Tim Paine-led Australia climbed over India to claim the top spot, while the Virat Kohli-led side slipped to the 3rd position with New Zealand taking the 2nd spot. But former India batsman Gautam Gambhir is not convinced by the ICC Rankings. Shraddha Kapoor is one of Bollywood's most versatile actresses. She has adapted to various characters in very distinctive movies and does not only restrict her talent to acting but also sings and dances stunningly well. The audience can observe from her filmography that she has performed varied roles elegantly. In the musical romantic drama film Aashique 2, she astounded the viewers with her enticing voice and proved that she can sing as well. In ABCD 2, Shraddha literally moved the audience of the Indian film industry with her groovy moves, proving that she is an awe-striking dancer as well. We take a look at Shraddha's role in Stree as a ghost which had an essential mysterious vibe to it. She had an enchanting aura about herself in the movie which grabbed hold of the audience fairly well. Shraddha's empowering role in the action- fueled movie 'Saaho' set the screens on fire. Her role was of an agent in a manhunt task force. As for Chhichhore, the actress played two roles: one of a student and one of a mother which she did exceedingly well, giving out an important message of having the right spirit of competitiveness. Shraddha is always on the rise and with her recently released film Baaghi 3, she gave the viewers quite the kick of awesome enter tainment. We can see that her sagas don't just restrict themselves to one particular genre. She has time and again proven to the audience her versatility! Shraddha Kapoor has set quite an ex- ample of being a multi-faceted package of entertainment and perpetuating the quality of her awe-inspiring acting at the same time. The terrific brother-sister duo are back. This time with a romantic, rain song after the gigantic success of 'Oh Humsafar' that had gathered over 800+ million views across YouTube. Yes, we are talking about Neha Kakkar and Tony Kakkar who are all set to astound you with Bhushan Kumar's 'Bheegi Bheegi', which promises to be another chartbuster from the hit machine siblings. Neha Kakkar and Tony Kakkar have delivered some of their biggest hits under the T-Series umbrella including Coca Cola, which received over 512.5 million views and Dheeme Dheeme, which crossed 89.2 million views across YouTube. 'Bheegi Bheegi' is a love ballad, composed by the multi-talented Tony Kakkar. The composer has also penned the catchy lyrics along with Prince Dubey for this soulful melody. Making 'Bheegi Bheegi' was an exciting challenge for Tony, who coordinated with his flautist Naveen, music arranger Aditya Dev and co-writer Prince Dubey over a series of video calls and messages. Says composer-singer Tony Kakkar, `Thankfully, I have a home studio so it was not a big problem but it's definitely not the same as working under normal circumstances.` Legendary Wasim Akram believes the someone like Jasprit Bumrah shouldn’t exhaust himself by playing in the English county as he is already playing three formats of international cricket. It must be noted that Bumrah till date has not played county cricket as he is one of the biggest draws of Indian Premier League, which has a gruelling schedule. “Cricket has become too much today. A guy like Bumrah being a top bowler, India no.1, I would have suggested him to relax and not run after county cricket. Young players need to play more first class cricket from there they will learn bowling,” Akram said. However Test cricket remains the ultimate format for the ‘Sultan of Swing’. “T20 is amazing, good entertainment; there’s plenty of money involved and I’m all in for the impor tance of money in a sport and the players,” Akram, regarded as one of the greatest left-arm pacers the game has ever produced told Aakash Chopra on his YouTube channel. “They won’t learn bowling from T20. I don’t judge a player by T20 performance, I judge them from their perfor mances in longer version of cricket.”Akram also recalled his initial days as a Pakistan cricketer and said he absolutely had no clue about his talent.”When I came in the team as a youngster I used to listen to Imran (Khan) bhai, Javed (Miandad) bhai, Mudassar Nazar that this kid has talent but that time I didn’t understand what they were trying to say.”Then I asked Imran Khan and he said your pace is deceptive and swing the ball and then I started to work on those areas. “Nothing comes easy was one advise which I learnt from all this three players all though their ways were different. As a bowler our job is to create doubts in the minds of the batsmen. I enjoyed the tag that I am talented,” said Akram. ‘THEY HAVE BEEN ABSOLUTELY PATHETIC AWAY FROM HOME’: GAUTAM GAMBHIR QUESTIONS AUSTRALIA’S NO. 1 TEST RANKING

At that time, TOH?camein like a perfect set-up. That it didn’t work is a different thing alto-gether. Now, we’re dealing with something like corona. So, from an extreme high to an extreme low, I’ve experi-enced both these aspects closely quite early on, and hon-estly, I feel that they’re equally impor tant.”

Be it celebrating when the bowler takes a wicket or just excite-ment of winning a match, Indian skipper Virat Kohli is known tobe vocal and over the top. While it may have calmed down over the years, there are memo-ries of him sledging the oppositions to just prove them.Talking about the same is the Indian captain's rival since theirU19 days - Rubel Hossain.Rubel Hossain and Virat Kohli’s rivalry goes back to their U-19days and has continued even in World Cups. Kohli even had aheated discussion with Rubel during the opening match of the2011 ODI World Cup.Rubel, during a Facebook Live session with teammates TamimIqbal and Taskin Ahmed acknowledged the rivalry. He said that itall started in the U-19 tri-nation series in South Africa in 2008.“I have played against Virat Kohli since our U-19 days. So I havehad things going on with him from our U-19 days. During the U-19days, he used to sledge a lot. Now it may not be that much,”Rubel said as quoted by BDCririctime.Rubel also revealed that Kohli had abused hos team's batsmenduring a match in that tri-nation series. “I had an altercation withhim and the umpire had to intervene,” he added. The duo played against each other in the 2008 U-19 World Cup inKuala Lumpur in which Kohli led India to victory. The two met during the 2019 World Cup as well and India hadbeaten Bangladesh by 28 runs. Rubel had taken the catch todismiss Kohli for 26 off Mustafizur Rahman.

With the likes of Sachin Tendulkar, Virender Sehwag, VVS Laxman, RahulDravid, and more, India was a force to reckon with. The team per formed against every opposition and in almost every condi-tion. They even had that extra spark when they were up against the bestteam of their generation – Australia.Talking about the same, former India all-rounder Ir fan Pathan and bats-man Suresh Raina, narrated how the Australians feared Harbhajan Singh.Irfan Pathan while talking to Suresh Raina in an Instagram live sessionstarted discussing the off -spinner’s impact.“Bhajju paa was one of the legends of the game, name me a betteroffspinner than him in world cricket, communication should’ve been bet-ter with him too. He’s a legend, played 100 test matches,” said Irfan.“He’s (Harbhajan) a fighter, won us matches in Australia. Australiansalways used to say stay away from Harbhajan Singh,” Raina added“They used to hold their ears upon hearing Harbhajan Singh’s name,”

quipped Ir fan. The Turbanator last played for India in a T20I in 2016 and isstill the country’s highest wicket-taker among active cricketers in Testmatches with 417 wickets in 103 Tests. The two-time World Cup winner – 2007 T20 World Cup and 2011 ODIWorld Cup – had a brilliant record against Australia. Af ter playing 18 Testsagainst the Aussies, Harbhajan took 95 wickets at an average of 29.95.He was India's first to claim a Test hat-trick in the second Test againstAustralia in 2001 at the Eden Gardens Kolkata. In that three-match series, which India won 2-1, Harbhajan picked up 32 wickets. The bowler too had spoken on the same lines with Rohit Sharma in anInstagram live session recently. He said, "I think Ricky Ponting used to get out just by looking at my face.I didn’t even need to bowl at him. When he came to play for MumbaiIndians, I thought he would improve after playing me in the nets. But eventhere I got him out 5-6 times”.

'Me and Yuvraj made our names throughfielding': Mohammad Kaif on India

    missing a ‘complete package’ fielder

The Indian cricket team has produced many greats when it comesto batter and bowlers, however, when it comes to fielder, thereare very few names that comes to mind. Name like MohammadKaif, Yuvraj Singh and in the cur rent lot namely Ravindra Jadeja, these players have made sure to help India restrict the oppo-nents from getting away with runs. Talking about the fieldingaspect of the Indian team, former India batsman Kaif in an inter-view with Youtube channel Spor ts Screen said that India hasimproved a lot in fielding over the years. He, however, feels thatthe side is missing a “complete package” in fielding at the mo-ment. “A great batsman is a complete package. He can play cut, hook, pull, inswing delivery, a bouncer, hit a six... it is same withfielding. Similarly, a fielder is a complete package when youknow how to slide, when you throw directly at the wickets, whenyou can run fast, when your hands make a proper shape to holdthe ball - if you do all these things right, then you become acomplete fielder,” Kaif said. “Me and Yuvraj made our namesthrough our fielding. You can find several good fielders in theIndian cricket team now. They have improved a lot.

'Don’t judge bowlers on the basis of their T20 performance': Wasim AkramT20 cricket is no criteria to judge a bowler or his performance, says formerPakistan captain Wasim Akram.Akram reckons that even though T20 cricket has its advantages, young bowlersneed to play more of the longer format.“The amount of cricket happening has changed everything. T20 cricket doesnot make bowlers. Back when we used to play, it was six months playing forthe national team and another six months for the country team. Youngstersneed to play more First-Class cricket to learn bowling,” Akram told AakashChopra on his YouTube Channel.“T20 is amazing, good enter tainment; there’s plenty of money involved andI’m all in for the impor tance of money in a spor t and the players. But I don’tjudge bowlers on the basis of their T20 performance. I do on the basis ofseeing how they fare in the longer format.”Akram also recalled his initial days as a Pakistan cricketer. He said he hadabsolutely no clue about the talent he had as a 17-year-old.Akram revealed how he would overhear idols Imran Khan and Javed Miandadtalk about him.“When I was new into the team, I used to listen to Imran Khan, Javed Miandadtalking among themselves that ‘this boy is a special talent’. So when I askedthem what is so special about me? They said things like ‘my pace is decep-tive, and I swing the ball’. So then I began working on those aspects. When Iwent on the first tour and got 10 wickets, I realised how amazing it was -playing with your idols, for the country, getting paid and I thought this shouldgo on for 20 years,” Akram added.Akram explained the impor tance of youngsters to think out of the box.“Very few left-arm pacers used to bowl round the wicket when I star ted. As ayoungster, I thought if I bowl from this side, a different angle will generate andbatsmen will find it tough. Those were the things I learned on my own. Ipicked up the old ball in the nets and tried out things like hiding myself behindthe umpire during my run-up. The point is to create doubt in the mind ofbatsmen and that’s what I wanted to do,” Akram pointed out.“I see so many fast bowlers these days, running in the entire day, bowlingwith the same run-up, same pace, without variations. That won’t make abatsman think. A have to keep them guessing what he’s coming up with next. There are so many little things that a bowler can do to trouble a batsman.”

'He got into my head': Kesrick Williams recalls ViratKohli's warning and story behind 'notebook celebration'

IPL 2020 IN UAE? EMIRATES CRICKET BOARD OFFERS TO HOST SUSPENDED EDITION

When it comes to India vs West Indies clash, the one thing that wewill remain fresh in the minds of fans is the banter between Indiacaptain Virat Kohli and Windies fast bowler Kesrick Williams duringthe T20I series last year.It all star ted in 2017 when Williams picked Kohli’s wicket and did his'notebook celebration'.Last year, in the T20I series, when Williams came to India, In the firstclash, Kohli hammered him for a six and then imitated the bowler’s'notebook celebration'. The moment became viral on social mediaand grabbed the attention of all.In the 2nd T20I, Williams picked up Kohli’s wicket, and then put hisfingers on his lips to celebrate the wicket. The banter between the twocricketers became the topic of discussion in the series. Now in an interview with International Cricket Network 360, Williamsrecalled the entire episode in detail.“Virat Kohli is the first person I did that notebook celebration on inJamaica. When I did the notebook celebration, I did it because I likedit and I did it for my fans. But Kohli didn’t see it that way.“After the game finished, I went to shake his hands, Kohli said goodbowling but the celebration eeeh and he walked off. He didn’t walk offrudely. But it was the end of our greeting. ‘I felt good playing againstyou’, he’s the best player in the world, whatever, whatever. We wentour separate ways.“Last year in India, as soon as Mr Virat Kohli walked into bat, hewalks straight at me and says, ‘the notebook celebration thing is notgoing to work here tonight. I’m going to make sure it won’t work’.”“And I was like, ‘Seriously! the episode is back from 2017’. Every ballI bowled he said something but, honest to god, the only thing I said tohim was, ‘mate, just bat and shut up. Really, you sound like a child.’That’s all I said to Kohli.“But all he really heard was just, ‘can you just bat and shut up’, thepar t about child and whatever he didn’t hear because I was walkingback. That’s all I said but he kept talking,” he said.“He didn’t say anything rude, he didn’t say anything disrespectful. Allhe said was ‘this celebration will not work here tonight, I’m gonnamake sure it didn’t work’.“In the match, he beat me really bad, I got confused because he got

into my head honestly and I kept thinking its alright, he got into myhead and that’s why he beat me badly.“Next day, I’m all over India newspapers, I’m being honest I felt bad.But I like a challenge, I love a challenge and I love fame. So at thatmoment I told myself, Kohli you’re the best player in the world butyou’ve just met the most determined player of the world. Who doesn’t giveup, who doesn’t say no and who always grind to come up on top. That’s the playeryou’ve met. And when things get bad, that’s when I shine,” “Next day, I’mall over India newspapers, I’m being honest I felt bad. But I like achallenge, I love a challenge and I love fame.“The next game, we are on our way to Thiruvananthapuram. We areon the plane, and he looks at me and goes like (shaking hand ges-

tures). And I am like, man, I am going to own him in the next game.”“In the match, Kohli is getting ready to bat, sitting in the boundary. Iwas fielding at fine-leg, every time I look at him, he’s shaking hishead. In my mind, I kept thinking, I want you to bat, hurry up, andcome.” “What happened next was I tied him down for two overs andthe only six that he could hit in the two overs was because I failed to execute thedelivery (slow delivery wide off the stump). “After hitting one six Kohli celebrated, while I thought one six and he reacted that way, I wish we had a full game.” “At theend of the day, we didn’t have any bad energy, we shook each other ’s hands, we goour separate ways. He is not disrespectful, he is very professional. Whenwe have problems off the field, we don’t carry it off the field. So, meand Kohli are good. But I can’t wait for a full game.”

This is KL Rahul's favourite cricketing memory with MS DhoniWicketkeeper-batsman KL Rahul recently revealed his favouritememory with former Team India skipper Mahendra Singh Dhoni.Rahul on Sunday made sure to answer as many questions from fansas he did an 'Ask Rahul' session over on Twitter. The versatile batsman was asked by a fan to share his favouritememory with Dhoni.Responding to this, KL wrote: "I think our par tnership in the game vsthe West Indies in Miami."As far as cricket is concerned, all spor ting events have been sus-pended due to the coronavirus pandemic.Rahul was in phenomenal form with the bat in the limited-overs se-ries against Australia and New Zealand. He has scored one century and four fifty-plus scores in his last teninnings in ODIs and T20Is combined.Rahul was also made the captain of KXIP and would have to lead theside in the 13th edition of the IPL if it had commenced from March 29.However, the tournament has been suspended indefinitely due to thecoronavirus pandemic.

After Sri Lanka Cricket (SLC), the Emirates Cricket Board has offered to host the Indian Premier League (IPL)2020 in the United Arab Emirates (UAE).This will not be the first time the UAE is hosting the IPL. They had arranged 20 matches in 2014 to avoid dateclashes with the general elections in India. However, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has not yet decided on this offer.“The UAE has offered to host the IPL if we want them to. But right now when there is no international travel, there is no question of taking a call on that,” BCCI treasurer Arun Dhumal said, Hindustan Times reported. The BCCI hasn’t given up hope of rescheduling the IPL and is keeping an eye on India's fight againstcoronavirus. When asked if BCCI is open to moving the IPL to a foreign land as they had done in 2009 (South Africa) andin 2014? Dhumal said, "The health and security of players and all par ticipants is our priority. At the moment,

the entire world travel has come to a standstill, so there is nothing we can decide at this stage”.Hosting the IPL abroad has been discussed with franchises over informal channels and if the cash-richevent is to be played in India, it will be behind the closed door. Also, with social distancing guidelines, regardless of the venue, maximum leverage for sponsors (likeplayer meet-and-greets) are unlikely. As for IPL being held either in Sri Lanka or UAE, the two countries are geographically close to India, and TVtimings would not be an issue. As for Sri Lanka cricket board, it is struggling financially, with no takers for its media rights tender. The staging fees of the IPL and renewed broadcaster interest could have helped them. “We have discussedamongst our committee members the proposal to host the IPL in Sri Lanka. We are in lockdown till May 11.Any fur ther decision will be taken af ter that,” said SLC secretary Mohan de Silva.

No player makes a debut at the age of 30, BCCI doesn't entertain such players: Irfan PathanFormer Team India cricketer Ir fan Pathan has hit out at Team India selectors for dropping himwhen he was merely 30 years old.Pathan also expressed his frustration over how neither the Board of Control for Cricket in India(BCCI) nor the selectors provided him with any information before sidelining him too."Mindset in India is different from England and Australia. I remember Michael Hussey made hisinternational debut at the age of 29, he became one of the greats for Australia when he finishedhis career, he’s remembered as Mr. cricket." Ir fan said."But, in India, no player makes a debut at the age of 30, selectors will not enter tain suchplayers," he added.Pathan's statement came during an Instagram Live session with Suresh Raina.Pathan also expressed his thoughts on how BCCI should also allow its players to par ticipate inforeign T20 leagues."Some BCCI official came to Baroda Cricket Association and said that I am not in top 30 players, why am I being selected for Baroda team. According to me, the players who are above 30 years, who are not in BCCI radar should get a chance to play two overseas leagues," Pathan said.

"Selectors made me ‘buddha’ at the age of 30. There’s no communication from the board and selectors." "Ifthey say ‘Ir fan, you give your best for one year, and you can be available for Team India’, I will obviously givemy best by leaving everything aside, but there’s no one to communicate at all," he added.

Canada’s priciest housing markets saw sales in free-fall and pricesunder pressure in the first full month of anti-coronavirus lockdownmeasures. The Toronto Regional Real Estate Board (TRREB) repor tshome sales in the Greater Toronto Area plunged 67 per cent in April asthe economic effects of the COVID-19 pandemic put a chill on thehousing market. TRREB says there were 2,975 residential transac-tions in the GTA in April compared with 9,005 transactions in April2019. The average sales price in the City of Toronto fell fell 2.5 percent, to $881,424 in April 2020 from $904,199 a year earlier. On aseasonally-adjusted basis, TRREB said April home prices in the GTAfell 11.8 per cent from March.Meanwhile, the Real Estate Board of Greater Vancouver (REBGV) re-ported sales dropped nearly 40 per cent in April, compared to thesame month a year earlier ? already a weak month for sales. The 1,109 proper ties that changed hands marked the lowest Aprilsales number for Greater Vancouver since 1982.Despite a large drop in newly-listed homes, the ratio of listings tosales suggests Vancouver ’s market is just inside “buyer ’s market”territory. Nonetheless, prices are still u. The benchmark price of adetached home was up 2.7 per cent from a year earlier, at $1.46million. The benchmark condo price was up 2.7 per cent in a year, to

$685,000. Toronto condo rentals were down on a year-over-year ba-sis in April, falling 57.9 per cent for one-bedroom units and 54.4 percent for two-bedroom units, TRREB repor ted.Prices for renters were also down for the month, with the averageone-bedroom rent falling 2.7 per cent to $2,107, and the average two-bedroom rent falling 4.1 per cent to $2,705.

Unifor has painted a very vivid picture of GM Canada’s safety mea-sures and production plan for its CAMI plant in Ingersoll, Ont. It in-cludes costly ventilation and a slow return to capacity.General Motors is scheduled to resume Nor th American vehicle as-sembly May 18 — a day later in Canada because of the Victoria Dayholiday. CAMI, which builds the popular Chevrolet Equinox, will beginwith a skeleton crew on the day shift, consisting of workers in thefactory’s paint, stamping and welding depar tments, according to theunion. Week 2 will feature full production, but only during one shift. Two shifts will work during the third week of ramp-up. It’s not clearwhen the factory will return to three shifts.One-hour gaps will be scheduled between shif ts in an effor t to limitemployee interaction.“This is absolutely necessary to keep our people safe when theycome in and out of the plant,” Van Boekel says in the video.Unifor said GM will modify all general ventilation air houses at CAMIto run with 100-per-cent fresh-air intake “effectively quadrupling ourfresh-air intake running with zero recirculation.”

LONDON: Men's blood has higher levels than women's of a key en-zyme used by the new coronavirus to infect cells, the results of a bigEuropean study showed on Monday — a finding which may helpexplain why men are more vulnerable to infection with COVID-19.Angiotensin-conver ting enzyme 2 (ACE2) is found in the hear t, kid-neys and other organs. In COVID-19, the respiratory disease causedby the novel coronavirus, it is thought to play a role in how the infec-tion progresses into the lungs. The study, published in the European Heart Journal, also found thatwidely-prescribed drugs called ACE inhibitors or angiotensin recep-tor blockers (ARBs) did not lead to higher ACE2 concentrations andshould therefore not increase the COVID-19 risk for people takingthem. ACE inhibitors and ARBs are widely prescribed to patients withcongestive hear t failure, diabetes or kidney disease. The drugs ac-count for billions of dollars in prescription sales worldwide."Our findings do not suppor t the discontinuation of these drugs in COVID-19patients," said Adriaan Voors, a professor of cardiology at the University MedicalCenter (UMC) Groningen in The Netherlands, who co-led the study.

DOES RISK OF OSTEOPOROSIS INCREASEWITH AGE IN MENOPAUSAL WOMEN?

Osteoporosis is a condition in which the bones weaken, increasing the risk of sudden and unexpected fractures. The term‘osteoporosis’ means porous bones and the condition results in significant loss of bone mass and strength. There is a directcorrelation between the development of osteoporosis and the lack of estrogen during menopause. Estrogen is the hormonewhich plays a crucial role in overall health, and it declines following menopause. The post-menopausal period is character-ized by the resorption or breakdown of existing bones and formation of new ones. Therefore, low levels of estrogen duringmenopause can cause loss of bone mass. “Since menopausal women above the age of 50 years are more prone toosteoporosis, it is important for them to understand the onset, warning signs, diagnosis and management of the disease,”says Dr Vineesh Mathur, director – division of spine, Institute of Musculoskeletal Disorders and Orthopaedics, Medanta, TheMedicity, Gurgaon.WHAT CAUSES OSTEOPOROSIS?The exact cause of osteoporosis is unknown. Our bones are made of living and growing issues with an outer shell of densebones wrapping a sponge-like bone. When osteoporosis strikes, the holes inside the sponge par t of the tissue increase in sizeand number, weakening the interiors of the bone. “Till the age of 30 years, our body builds more bones than it loses but thisprocess starts reversing post the age of 35 years leading to a loss in bone mass. When the bone loss aggravates it causesosteoporosis,” he adds.Warning signsOsteoporosis is commonly known as the ‘silent disease’ because the symptoms cannot be easily detected. A person maybe aware of the disease only when a sudden bump or fall causes a fracture due to weak bones. The symptoms include:1. A collapsed vertebrae2. Sloping shoulders3. Back pain4. Spinal deformities such as hunched posture5. Curve in the backRISK FACTORS:1. Age: This is a significant risk factor as the bone strength and density naturally declines as one grows older.2. Gender: Women above the age of 50 years are more prone to risk as compared to men. Factors such as having lighter andthinner bones and menopause increase risk.3. Body weight and structure of bones: Women who are thin and petite are at a greater risk of developing osteoporosis because

they have lesser bones as compared to women with more body weight.4. Family history: A family history of osteoporosis among parents or grandparents increases the riskPREVENTIVE MEASURES:1. Exercise and engage in physical activities regularly. This helps make the bones and muscles stronger, thereby preventingbone loss apart from helping you stay active. The best method of preventing osteoporosis to do weight-bearing exercises likewalking, jogging, dancing and playing tennis three to four times a week. Strength and balance exercises are also recom-mended. 2. Consuming calcium-rich foods such as milk and dairy products, seafood, canned fish like salmon and sardines, dark green leafy vegetables, such as kale, collards and broccoli and breads made with calcium-fortified flour is recom-mended as calcium helps in increasing bone strength3. For those who are lactose-intolerant, consuming lactose-free foods that are high in calcium, such as leafy green vegetables, salmon, and broccoli and lactose-free dairy products is recommended4. Our body uses vitamin D to absorb calcium and increasing access to the same is beneficial. Exposure to the sun by beingoutdoor for 20 minutes daily and consuming vitamin D rich foods such as eggs, fatty fish like salmon, cereal and milk for tifiedwith vitamin D can help.

Feeling dizzy? This could be the reason

Dizziness is one of the most common symptoms physiciansget queries for in clinical practice, and probably the most diffi-cult one to treat as well, says Dr Kavita Barhate, consultantneurologist, For tis Hospital, Kalyan. “It is the chief presentingsymptom in about 3 per cent of primary care visits for patients25 years and older, and in nearly 3 per cent of all emergencyadmissions. It is said that most astute clinicians can also feela bit dizzy trying to solve the problem of dizziness in theirpatients,” she adds. The confusion, she says, stems from the fact that patients areoften not clear by what they mean when they say they are‘feeling dizzy’, as it could mean different things to differentpeople, or even to the same person in different situations. It isfur ther complicated as the causes of dizziness ranges frombenign to life-threatening disorders, and features that distin-guish these, may be very subtle.A detailed history can usually classify dizziness into one offour categories:1. Vertigo (usually described as false sense of motion or spin-ning sensation)2. Disequilibrium (usually results in off-balance or wobbly feeling)3. Presyncope (generally described as blackouts or feeling oflosing consciousness)4. Light-headedness (consists of vague feelings of being dis-connected with the environment)All these types of dizziness can be a sign of several underlyingillnesses. That’s why detailed history and examination withappropriate investigations are mandatory before suggesting that thesymptom of dizziness is functional or psychosomatic in origin.Successful treatment of dizziness is totally dependent on theexact diagnosis of the cause and there is no ‘one size fits all’solution available. That’s why recurrent or persistent dizzi-ness should never be ignored.

    HOW TO CONTROL THE MIND

    BY K. SIVA PRASAD

Arjuna compares the mind to the wind and wants to know as to how to control it, so that itmaintains balance. Krishna says that it's cer tainly difficult, but it can be achieved through thepractice of _Vairagya_ .The mind is evolved to judge inputs brought in by the senses into safe and unsafe and usesmemory while doing so. This ability helped us survive and prosper during evolution. The same ability of the mind can be used for internal judging, which is called awareness. We can feedour own thoughts and feelings back to the judging mind to improve the quality of judging. Similarfeedback mechanisms are used to enhance machine learning as well as to stabilize electronic sys-tems. Lord Krishna is hinting at developing this faculty through practice as this doesn't come naturally. In terms of neuroscience, it's like building new neural networks. It's easier to understand _Vairagya_ by understanding its polar opposite _Raag_ . _Raag_ is broadlya chase for pleasures in the manifested world like physical beauty, careers and material possessions. As per the principle of polarity, every _raag_ ends in _vairagya_ but our attention is always on _raag_and we tend to overlook _vairaagya_ .Some philosophies like Stoicism advocate the use of death, which is the peak of _Vairagya_ . It'scalled 'Memento Mori', i.e. constantly revisiting death. In this they keep something(memento) asa reminder of death at a prominent location in the work place or at home so that they constantlyrevisit it. Indian philosophy refers to this as _Shamshan_ _Vairagya_ .Krishna says that if you put _Vairagya_ into practice, it will stabilize the mind at the centre. These lockdown periods gave us glimpses of_vairagya_ moments. A small steak of _vairagya_ generated can help us to attain a balanced mind for peace and joy.

Children face greater risk from COVID-19 than previously thought: StudyNEW YORK: Children, teens, and young adults are at greater risk for severe complications from COVID-19 than previously thought, according to a study which says those with underlying health conditions are at even greater risk.“The idea that COVID-19 is sparing of young people is just false,” said study co-author Lawrence Kleinman from Rutgers University inthe US. According to the study, published in JAMA Pediatrics, children are more likely to get very sick if they have other chronicconditions like obesity. “It is also impor tant to note that children without chronic illness are also at risk. Parents need to continue to takethe virus seriously,” Kleinman cautioned. The study, published in JAMA Pediatrics, is the first to describe the characteristics of seriouslyill paediatric COVID-19 patients in Nor th America. In the research, the scientists assessed 48 children and young adults—from new-borns to 21 years old—who were admitted to paediatric intensive care units (PICUs) in the US and Canada for COVID-19 in March andApril. The study noted that more than 80 per cent of the children had chronic underlying conditions, such as immune suppression, obesity, diabetes, seizures, or chronic lung disease.Of these children, 40 per cent depended on technological suppor t due to developmental delays or genetic anomalies, the researcherssaid. More than 20 per cent experienced failure of two or more organ systems due to COVID-19, they said, adding that nearly 40 per centrequired a breathing tube and ventilator. At the end of the follow-up period, about 33 percent of the children were still hospitalised due to COVID-19, the scientists repor ted in thestudy. Three of the children still required ventilator suppor t and one of them was still on life suppor t.The study also noted that two of the children admitted during the three-week study period died.“This study provides a baseline understanding of the early disease burden of COVID-19 in paediatric patients,” said Hariprem Rajasekhar,a paediatric intensivist involved in conducting the study at Rober t Wood Johnson Medical School’s Depar tment of Pediatrics.
