Important terms

✘Domain name is the URL of the website

✘IP address is the location of the website on the internet

✘A top level domain is the part of the URL after the period

DNS stands for domain name system.

What is DNS?An unordered labeling system that renders host names to ip

addresses.

*host name = determines a computer on a network or a domain on the internet

1. Submit domain name registration request to a registrar

2. Registrar will send all info to the registry

3. Registry files the contact information for the Whois
