Introduction

Who we are

The DAO was set up in 2014 as a Defence asset providing accreditation opportunities across the MOD and are based within the Defence Academy of the United Kingdom, Shrivenham.

What we do

The Defence Awarding Organisation (DAO) is Ofqual approved and offers a cost effective alternative to the mainstream commercial awarding organisations.

To award work-based qualifications to Armed Forces Personnel (Regular and Reserve), MOD Civil Servants and promote the Defence Brand through the exploitation of accreditation opportunities across the Defence Industry.

For many years Defence has relied on commercial awarding bodies to accredit its training. DAO offers a supportive professional service. Its not about accreditation for accreditation sake.
