INTRODUCTION:- Clothing is a primary and fundamental

need of mankind. Clothing gives a feeling of self

confidence and comfort, and the wearer feels physically, psychologically and socially at ease.

Textiles are mainly used to cover and protect body.

Technical textiles are defined as `Textile materials and products manufactured primarily for their technical performance and functional properties rather than their aesthetic or decorative characteristics.

A non-exhaustive list of end-uses includes aerospace, industrial, military, safety, transport textiles and geotextiles.

From this definition, one can conclude that all the textile materials used in protective equipment may be considered as technical textiles.

Here, we are going to discuss about ‘Defensive Textiles’, which are mainly used in many fields like:- At Fire Places, At Hospitals, At Cool Regions, At Military Camps, At Borders, etc.

These type of textiles defenses human body in different ways.

Particular textiles are used in particular places..

TOPIC 1: DEFENSIVE CLOTHES Nowadays safety and Defensive/Protective

textile have become an integral part in one or other form. Safety and protective textile refer to garment and other fabric related items designed to protect the wearer from harsh environmental effects that may result in injury or death.

Defensive/Protective textiles are a part of technical textiles that are defined as comprising all those textile-based products which are used principally for their performance or functional characteristics rather than their aesthetic or decorative characteristics.

CLASSIFICATION OF DEFENSIVE CLOTHING Classifying personal defensive textiles

or clothing is complicated because no single classification can clearly summarize all kinds of protection. Overlap of the definitions is common since there are so many occupations and applications that even the same class of protective clothing often has different requirements in technique and protection.
