Friends, most of the issues in our daily life are due to a feeling, 'people don't understand me'. A very scientific and realistic solution to this problem is put forth which shall help make our lives much better and hassle free.

Besides, we all are aware that a 'Gnani' is bestowed with supreme virtues and all these traits and qualities are truly unique. Amongst many such wonderful traits is their amazing awareness, that none is hurt even in the slightest manner and if that happens, how to correct that. This facet along with 'Gnanis' remarkable humility is unfolded in an instance that took place in US.

We have tried to share a few of the many unique virtues of 'Gnanis', through various articles put together in this issue. Hope these shall act as milestones in our journey to be a better human.

Friends, most of the issues in our daily life are due to a feeling, 'people don't understand me'. A very scientific and realistic solution to this problem is put forth which shall help make our lives much better and hassle free.

Besides, we all are aware that a 'Gnani' is bestowed with supreme virtues and all these traits and qualities are truly unique. Amongst many such wonderful traits is their amazing awareness, that none is hurt even in the slightest manner and if that happens, how to correct that. This facet along with 'Gnanis' remarkable humility is unfolded in an instance that took place in US.

We have tried to share a few of the many unique virtues of 'Gnanis', through various articles put together in this issue. Hope these shall act as milestones in our journey to be a better human.

Questioner: Whenever we enter into arguments or have any difference of opinion with parents, we always feel that we are 110% right.Niruma: Does that happen with you?Questioner: Yes, once it happened with me. And then my dad said, “Do whatever you want to.” What should I do in such a situation?Niruma: Did he say that willingly or out of irritation?Questioner: He was furious when he said so.Niruma: It means, he said so out of disappointment. What else would he say with you pestering him? He must be tired with your arguments and thus he must have given up and said so. Questioner: But then why do we have different viewpoints?Niruma: Let's put it this way, you must be aware that in a circle there are 360 degrees. Similarly we all are at a certain degree individually. Now each one is 'stuck

Golden rays of the setting sun were slowly making their withdrawal causing darkness to descend over the city, drawing curtains to yet another day. The citizens were busy making their way back home, engrossed in their thoughts about their plans for the rest of the evening. In complete contrast to the hustle and bustle of the evening, a tired and old grandmother waited outside the operation theatre in the surgical ward of Netrajyoti Hospital, as she eagerly awaited the fate of her one and only grandson. Manish, a teenager had injured his eyes while playing and had been admitted to the hospital in a state of emergency. In spite of the best efforts by the team of experts attending him, his condition was deteriorating. The doctors thus concluded that a surgery, although very risky was the only option left. Already having faced the trauma of losing her son and daughter-in- law in a car accident a few years back, she was now mentally preparing herself for the fresh challenge that was knocking at her door once again. “What's the fate of my grandson, doctor?” she inquired eagerly the moment the surgeon walked out of the operation theater. The surgeon quietly

took the wrinkled palms of grandma in his hands, looked at her compassionate eyes and unwillingly shared the news saying, “Please forgive us. We have lost our battle against the will of nature. We couldn't save his eye-sight!!” Although trying her best to accept the fate she just couldn't control the tears from rolling down her eyes. Regaining her composure shortly, she thanked the doctor and replied, “May be that is his fate! You have tried your level best but after all we all have to suffer whatever is due in our account. When can I see my son?” “After an hour, you shall have to wait till the effects of anesthesia subside”, replied the doctor as he walked away to attend to another patient carrying with him very healthy regards for the old lady. With thoughts of the dark future enveloping her mind she couldn't suppress her anger and murmured in complaint, “Oh God, what harm have I caused you? Why am I punished ?” Next day Manish was to be

discharged from the hospital. Grandma sat beside him trying to provide the much needed strength. “Ba, they have removed the bandage, haven't they?” inquired Manish. Trying to postpone the inevitable as much as possible she tried to console him. Taking his hands lovingly in her shivering palms she replied, “Yes my son. But you will have to get used to staying darkness till the time your vision is restored.” “Okay” replied Manish, already lost in thoughts while contemplating his future. “Don't worry my son. Till then I shall be with you all through the day and we shall see the world together through my eyes. I will not let you down in any way” said Grandma offering her support to Manish. On reaching home, Grandma shifted her couch to Manish's room in order to attend to all his daily needs. All the other things like the television, books and video games had become completely worthless for Manish. He tried to pass his time by listening to filmi songs but soon got bored with it. The feeling of having to live in complete darkness sent a chill down his spine. As days passed he realized that he had lost his vision forever and for the first time in his life experienced an intense feeling of helplessness and despondency. “There is a nice cool breeze blowing outside. Let's walk over to the park and enjoy the pleasant evening!” said Grandma taking Manish's hands in hers very lovingly. “As you say Grandma”, Manish

replied cheerfully trying to mask his feelings of grief and anger. Grandma helped him up and guided him slowly towards the park. Both of them were in intense grief but neither of them wanted to hurt the other by expressing it. They sat on a bench overlooking the pond. Grandma gently asked Manish, “Do you remember son, we used to come here quite often when you were kid? After playing around we used to feed popcorn to the fish. I have taken along some popcorn today also. Would you like to feed them?” A picture of those lively, fun filled days flashed across his mind. Memories of his childhood, his days at school and his moments of glory were all reduced to mere darkness.

Completely distressed and unable to come to terms with reality he laid his head in her lap and started weeping. Soon he broke down completely. “Ba, I have never thought negatively for anyone nor have I tried to hurt anyone. Then why did this happen to me? Why am I being punished?”

Grandma was speechless. She had no answer!

Gnani's Scientific SolutionQuestioner: What kind of k a r m a b r i n g s a b o u t t h e sufferings in the body?Dadashri : You see these handicapped people? How did that happen? It's such that if we misuse ears, then they will get affected. So is the case with the eyes, nose, tongue, brains etc. If we misuse our hands; it shall result in them getting injured. One will have to bear the fruits of his misdeeds here itself.QUESTIONER: Is this all linked to past life?DADASHRI: Yes. It is simply the science of cause & effect. Both cannot take place together in the same life. There is a factor of time which plays a crucial role in it. A period of time is needed for causes to be converted into effect. For e.g. a mango tree will not bear mangoes immediately on sowing of seeds. It will take some time. Later the tree will bear fruits but then too they shall be in raw form. Again it will need more time for the fruits to ripen. If we want mangoes to ripen the very next day, will that happen? Likewise whatever karmas we charge or cause to charge takes a few years, sometime even a century or more to give effect and show results.In the past life, those karmas were in the form of a design,

just like a plan projected on paper. The execution part comes in the next life. We call it 'prarabdh' (destined to happen). There may be a gap of 50 or even 100 years for the cause to materialize.

“Result is inevitable”

QUESTIONER: Is it that we are affected mainly by our own karmas?DADASHRI: Who else is responsible for them? There are no outside forces as such mingling with them. If your wife is very, wise at present and suddenly loses her wits and becomes mental after few years, then how did that happen? It is the result of our own karmas. So we have to understand that it is my pending account that I need to settle.The net effect or the resultant act is something one has to go through. One simply cannot avoid it. Even 'We' have to bear it. Lord Mahavira too had to suffer on that account. In case of the Lord, it was the celestial deities who were harassing Him and inflicting pain through various means. But the Lord was aware that those deities were not responsible for casting trouble on him, but was only instrumental and it was His own 'karmas' that were bearing fruit. He knew that this was destined to happen.

Whew! What a week. Started off with a small question by a young cousin and led to the unraveling of the mysteries of life cycle. But more on that later, first would like to know how are you all doing my dear friends? Hope that the solutions and understanding provided by Dadashri might be helping you resolve your queries. Would really appreciate if any of you would like to share their experience on this platform. Well, I was playing a tutor to a cousin assisting him in science, when out of curiosity he started asking me questions about our universe, then about our galaxy. One thing led to another and our discussion led to the topic of life cycle on our planet. This is where I was found wanting and asked him to take a break while I did my research. Both of us were pleased by this arrangement as he desperately wanted to go out and I needed some peace to help me look for answers to those questions which were now bugging me. I would first like to share the facts that I gathered and found them to be quite helpful…This entire cycle is called as food chain. We get energy by eating food and our body is maintained by the energy we get from the food. Just look at the amazing human body's mechanism which grows, maintains, deteriorates and perishes. So we can see that from billions of years life takes its forms in various bodies, lives life and finally dies. Soul is permanent, it is never born and is immortal, it never dies… It's like this, when conceived the three batteries, mind – speech - body, become effective right in the womb itself. These batteries last till the effects are over and done with, that is till all the (karmic) accounts are settled and once those are fulfilled they get exhausted, this is called the death or the passing away…. but by then the new batteries would have got charged 'within' for the next lifetime. Death makes the body inert and inanimate which means that the 'jeev' (life) from within has left and moved on…the body is dead, we ourselves have lit it on the funeral pyre… so now the question arises, who is reborn? We can conclude that due to the presence of soul rebirth was possible. Now the soul is not the only element which leaves the body, all the 'karmas', causal body and electrical body too leave along with it. The electrical body remains in each and every being till empirical existence (till the time the life cycle is in existence). The intake of food, making of blood, the movement of blood, all of these are possible due to electrical body. In fact even the sight in eyes, the emotions of anger, pride, deceit and greed are all due to the electrical body. All of these won't be able to function in the absence of electrical body. They can function only due to the presence of electrical body and the soul. These are collective causes…. All these sensory organs shall get exhausted and done with, they shall die. So these sensory organs shall not go along with. Only anger, pride, deceit and greed, making up the causal body shall go along with.

I am really surprised to know the immense importance of activities like inhaling; exhaling, eating, digesting and excreting which otherwise seem so trivial hold such significance. I am in complete awe of the working of Mother Nature. Today the tutor learned a lot…..

Whew! What a week. Started off with a small question by a young cousin and led to the unraveling of the mysteries of life cycle. But more on that later, first would like to know how are you all doing my dear friends? Hope that the solutions and understanding provided by Dadashri might be helping you resolve your queries. Would really appreciate if any of you would like to share their experience on this platform. Well, I was playing a tutor to a cousin assisting him in science, when out of curiosity he started asking me questions about our universe, then about our galaxy. One thing led to another and our discussion led to the topic of life cycle on our planet. This is where I was found wanting and asked him to take a break while I did my research. Both of us were pleased by this arrangement as he desperately wanted to go out and I needed some peace to help me look for answers to those questions which were now bugging me. I would first like to share the facts that I gathered and found them to be quite helpful…This entire cycle is called as food chain. We get energy by eating food and our body is maintained by the energy we get from the food. Just look at the amazing human body's mechanism which grows, maintains, deteriorates and perishes. So we can see that from billions of years life takes its forms in various bodies, lives life and finally dies. back. He looked at the strong wind

went out looking for him. When she

found him, he was jumping up off a

fence over and over to see how far the

wind would carry him. He had gotten

thinking about how strong the wind

was, and forgot completely about

everything else.

During his London years Newton

enjoyed power and worldly success. His

position at the Mint assured a

comfortable social and economic

status, and he was an active and able

administrator. After the death of Hooke

in 1703, Newton was elected president

of the Royal Society and was annually

reelected until his death. In 1704 he

published his second major work, the

Opticks, based largely on work

completed decades before. He was

knighted in 1705.In his later life, when asked for an

assessment of his achievements, he

replied, "I do not know what I may

appear to the world; but to myself I

seem to have been only like a boy

playing on the seashore, and diverting

myself now and then in finding a

smoother pebble or prettier shell than

ordinary, while the great ocean of truth

lay all undiscovered before me."Newton's final gesture before death

was to refuse the sacrament, a decision

This awe inspiring instance took place when Dadashri was in Los Angeles in America. During those days many seekers were keen to take 'Gnan', but the date of 'Gnan – vidhi' was not getting confirmed due to Dadashri's failing health. A lady staying about 60 miles away used to frequently travel to seek Dadashri's blessings. During each of her visits she would inquire about the date of 'gnan vidhi' as she was very keen to take 'gnan'. Finally as Dadashri's health improved, she was informed the date of 'Gnan – vidhi'. Feeling elated she got both her and her husband's name enlisted. The couple along with many other seekers took 'gnan' on that day. All these 'mahatmas' were asked to come back the next morning for Dadashri's 'darshan' and 'vidhi' as was the custom in those days. 'Mahatmas' from all over started coming in as early as 6:30 in the morning. Already very frail due to ill –health and the exertion of 'gnan –vidhi' performed the previous evening soon took its toll on Dadashri. Feeling tired, Dadashri suggested taking a break of a few minutes, from 'darshan' as he wanted to lie down and relax. While Dadashri took a break, the lady along with her husband and other 'mahatmas' were asked to wait. Now it so happened that while relaxing Dadashri fell into deep sleep, which was a rarity and woke up only after an hour and a half. No sooner had the 'darshan' resumed, the lady feeling sad started crying

uncontrollably. She approached Dadashri and said, “Dada, I had a tough time convincing my husband to come for 'darshan' and by the time we reached we were informed about your health and were to told that 'darshan' would resume in a few minutes. He waited for all 90 minutes and finally lost his patience. He left just a few minutes back feeling very furious for having to wait so long. I am really worried as to what shall happen to his 'Gnan' as he has not completed the process of 'darshan' and 'vidhi'. As it is he attended the 'gnan – vidhi' very unwillingly and now he has missed this vital follow up too.” To this Dadashri consoled her saying, “Don't worry. Try to convince him and bring him here somehow.” But the lady was confident he would never ever agree to that. So Dadashri asked Niruma to write a note, on His behalf. 'Bhai, please do come again. I have erred. I was taking rest when you had come and could not see you. It was a mistake on my part. Please forgive me. Please come again for darshan.' Dadashri personally signed it, placed it in an envelope, sealed it and gave it to the lady. Almost fifteen days had passed but there was no response from the gentleman. One fine evening at about 9.30 p.m. the lady suddenly turned up to seek Dadashri's blessings. Dadashri promptly asked, “Why have you come alone? Go and bring your husband!” Hearing this she was shocked. She wondered how Dada had come to know of her husband waiting downstairs in the car! She then replied that he was not willing to come. Finally Niruma went down and spoke to him, “Whether you believe it or not, Dadashri knows that you are here. He is calling you upstairs. He is waiting for you.” On hearing this, the man immediately got out of the car and went to meet Dadashri.

On seeing him Dadashri said in a very compassionate and concerned tone, “You have come! I was waiting for you since a longtime. It was a grave mistake on my part that you had to wait for long and still could not meet me. Actually I just fell into deep sleep and could not keep track of time. How could this happen in spite of being a 'Gnani'? By all means it was a grave mistake on my part.” The gentleman was completely dumbfounded. He replied, “No no Dada, it is not so. I have not felt bad at all and hold no negative feelings towards you.” Yet Dadashri went on asking for forgiveness with utmost humility and said, “Please put both your hands on my head and say that you forgive me.” Seeing this extremely humble and compassion filled gesture, all those present in the room were filled with emotions and had tears in their eyes. Then Dadashri himself very lovingly took hold of his hands, placed them on his head and requested, “Please say, Dada I forgive you.” With tears rolling down his cheeks the man said, “Dada I forgive you!!” Then he went on to add, “Dada I had never harboured any negative feelings for you, neither have I thought on those lines. Whatever it was was due to my opinions about my wife's attitude.” From that moment onwards he became an ardent and dedicated devotee and started attending 'satsang' regularly. What an amazing humility and compassion. Dadashri was very much aware of even the slightest lapse. He apologized for his mistakes with ease and equanimity and avoided charging of fresh karmas or claims

Dadashri : This belief of, “I am Chandulal,” is ahankar (ego). To impose 'I' where 'I' does not belong is ahankar (ego). Ego is when you do not know who you are and you identify yourself with that which you are not. “I am Chandulal,” is for a dramatic (for playing your role in the worldly interactions) purpose only. There is no harm in saying, “I am Chandulal,” but the belief, “I am Chandulal,” should not be ingrained within you.

ONE IS A STRANGER TO HIS REAL SELF

This is an effort on one's part to remain hidden from his own Self for endless lives. Is it not strange that for infinite lives, one has remained hidden from his Real Self and yet he knows everything that is related to the non-self? How long do you think he will remain hidden from his Real Self? This life is meant for the realization of one's Real Self. The h u m a n l i f e i s m e a n t s o l e l y f o r t h e investigation of one's true identity. Otherwise one will wander aimlessly. Do you not think it is imperative to know the answer to the question, “Who am I?” Will you not need toinquire about who you really are?

SEPARATE 'I' AND 'MY’At the moment, do you identify with the 'My'?

Is the 'I' alone, or is it with 'My'?Questioner: 'My' is always there. My home and all the things inside my home.Dadashri : Then you will say “My head, my body, my feet, my ears, my eyes.” All these parts of your body fall under 'My'. But then who is the person that is saying this word “My”? Who is the one that says, “All these things are mine.”? Have you ever thought about that? When you say “My name is Chandulal,” and then you turn around and say, “I am Chandulal” do you not think there is a contradiction in this? You are 'Chandulal' right now. In this 'Chandulal' there is both 'I' and 'My'. They are like the two railway lines of 'I' and 'My'; they always run together yet they are always separate. They are always parallel and never become one. Despite this you believe them to be one. Having understood this, separate the 'My'. Keep all that comes under 'My' to one side. If you want material things then you will have to keep the 'My' but if you want to become liberated then you will need to r e l i n q u i s h o w n e r s h i p o r s u r r e n d e r (surrender by means of understanding only) everything that falls under the category of 'My'. Surrender all that is 'mine' or 'My' to the Gnani Purush and you will be left with only the 'I'. The state of belief of, “I am, and all this is mine,” is defined as jivatmadasha. The belief, “I Am, and all of this is not mine,” (an inherent understanding that comes about as a result of Self- Realization) is the state of Parmatmadasha. Everything associated with 'My' are obstacles on the path of liberation. Once 'My' becomes detached from the 'I', everything becomes clear. The realizationof, “Who Am I?” is spontaneously associated with the loss or detachment of 'My'.

ONLY THE GNANI SHOWS YOU THE REAL 'I' It is here in this world that you can know your Real Self. This is the science of

understanding, “Who am I?” Come to me and I will make you realize your true Self.

GOD'S CORRECT ADDRESS

Then these scientists asked me where God lives. I told them to write this statementdown, “God is in every creature whether, visible or invisible. Not in creation.” This record player is a manmade creation. God does not reside in any manmade things. God is present in all things that are naturally created.

THE ONLY GOAL WORTH HAVING

Questioner: What goal must a human being have?Dadashri: Liberation should be the only goal. You do want liberation don't you? For how much longer do you want to keep on wandering aimlessly? You have done just this for infinite lives. You have not left any place to wander. You have wandered aimlessly between different gatis: janwar gati (animal kingdom), manushya gati (human form) and devagati (celestial form). Why did you have to suffer such endless wanderings? Because you have not known your true identity; you have not known the answer to, “Who Am I?” Should you not know your Real Self? Despite your extensive wanderings of countless lives, you do not even know who you really are. Is making money your only goal in life? Should you not be making a little attempt toward liberation? Is there not a need then to become independent? How long can you be in such bondage?

Answer: One cannot understand the difference between necessity and desire by mere words. What you need to do is simply ask for permission from your well wishers like your parents, siblings, friends and teachers for whatever that you need or would like to do. And if they permit, you can proceed. In case they raise any objection then you should understand that what you need is merely a desire and should forget it. It's always advisable to convince them instead of forcing your views on them. If you win their confidence, it shall help fulfill all your appropriate needs, those around you won't feel hurt and at the same time you will earn their love and respect. Besides earning the blessings of your parents, this attitude and virtue of taking adjustments shall be rewarded in due course.

A year after getting associated with Dadashri's

science, I came to know that I was suffering from

cancer but I never felt that I was suffering from

such a severe ailment.

Whenever there has been a need of surgery to

be done on my body, indeed there has been a lot

of pain, but by reminiscing about Dadashri,

Niruma and Pujyashri, my pain always subsided.

There was a constant feeling of complete

detachment from the body. There was a spiritual

awareness that I am pure soul (shudhatma) and

Durgesh is suffering from illness. Dadashri is

always with me and will cure me of my illness,

there's no need to worry.

I have two groups of friends; one of relatives

while the other is of fellow disciples (satsangi).

During these troubled times I got a lot of support

and help from the group of disciples. Now I feel as

if I belong to this group and they are my true

family. I have gained a lot from this group.
