The beginning…
• First things first, I choose a picture I took last winter of a tree on Strawberry Hill and turned it black and white. My friends and I hang out here often, so I thought it’d be a good choice.
…(two)
• I went to Durham Park and set the picture in the water. I thought some of the ink would wash away, but that didn’t happen..
…(three)
• After putting the sheet of paper in the dryer, my friend folded the picture into a little finger puppet thing.. (I’m not sure what else to call it)
…(four)
• I dripped red candle wax all over the photo
… (five)• I decided to somewhat recreate the picture by adding
small sticks, blades of grass, and flowers into the photo. My goal was for it to have an autumn feel.
…(six)
Next– I peeled off the red wax from the paper and wrote out the word ‘fire’ and bordered it with torn pieces from the photo.
…(seven)
Almost to the end. . . I decided to put the wax, paper, sticks, and grass into a bowl and catch the materials on fire.
…(eight)
... I collected the ashes and with them made a new form of a tree
…(nine)And for the end. . . I uploaded the photo in to Photoshop and did some editing. Although the tree created from ash has a different form, I wanted to bring it back to the original black and white style.
