DegreeWorks FGCU Presentation Page 1 of 7 What is DegreeWorks? Computerized, web-based degree audit, academic advising tool, student academic planner, reporting, and enrollment management software package offered by Sungard. Designed to enhance academic advising, but is not intended to replace face-to-face advising sessions. What could DegreeWorks do? Provide accurate and timely degree advice for students, advisors and faculty in reviewing the student’s progress toward graduation. Compare degree requirements and course work completed to produce an easy-to-read worksheet that helps students, advisors, and faculty view the degree requirements by categories. (See sample degree audits – pages 2 and 3) Examples: o Checkboxes and color coding exist within each requirements block to outline what courses and requirements are complete, are in progress and need to be completed. o Students have direct access through hyperlinks to view course descriptions, prerequisites, co-requisites, and class schedule for courses by clicking on the requirements within their degree audit. Support more timely degree certification by reducing paperwork and manual degree certification checklists. Provide the ability for students, advisors and faculty to request and make degree requirement substitutions electronically. Enable students, advisors, and faculty to easily document advising notes. Provide students, advisors, and faculty a single screen view of progress towards degree completion changes if the student changes majors or adds a minor. Provide three different GPA calculators: o Graduation Calculator helps determine the grades students have to earn to reach the desired GPA upon graduating. o Term Calculator helps students set specific goals for the classes in the current term. o Advice Calculator helps determine how many credits of a specific grade average is needed to reach a desired GPA. Provide an Athletics Eligibility auxiliary audit. (See sample Athletic Eligibility Audit – page 4) Provide a Financial Aid auxiliary audit. (See sample Financial Aid Audit – page 4) Provide a Student Educational Planner (SEP) component that dynamically shows how degree progress is affected by future planned courses. (See sample SEP – page 5) Generate reports with Curriculum Planning Assistant (CPA) component based on students’ degree audit information to include, but not limited to: academic history and progress when approaching graduation; determine demand for courses by discipline, department and other variables (See sample curriculum planning reports – pages 6 and 7)
