Therefore, since we are surrounded by such a great cloud of witnesses, let us throw off everything that hinders and the sin that so easily entangles. And let us run with perseverance the race marked out for us, 7ixing our eyes on Jesus, the pioneer and perfecter of faith. For the joy set before him he endured the cross, scorning its shame, and sat down at the right hand of the throne of God. Consider him who endured such opposition from sinners, so that you will not grow weary and lose heart. Hebrews 12:1–3 NIV De#ining Moments in the Face of Life’s Uncertainties For everything that was written in the past was written to teach us, so that through endurance and the encouragement of the Scriptures we might have hope. Romans 15:4 The Bible is by far the most powerful and life-changing book on earth. It has answers for every problem we face today. It contains incredible stories that have fascinated and inspired people for generations. It highlights the mystery of the ages—God's plan to save mankind through the death and Resurrection of Jesus Christ. Jesus is our Savior for all we face in life these days! What most unnerves people is often the unknown. God gives His people the ability to adapt and overcome to the unexpected. We will be de#ined by how we ful#ill God’s will during this trial. We are destined to be a beacon of hope, in our families, our workplace, in our neighborhoods and in our fellowship together. We should recognize the de#ining moments of our life are the divine moments of our life. As we rise to these moments we discover the destiny God has for us one moment at a time. Keep Calm and Carry On “For God has not given us a spirit of fear, but of power and of love and of a sound mind.” 2 Timothy 1:7 The Call to Endurance Therefore, do not throw away your con@idence, which has a great reward. For you have need of endurance, so that when you have done the will of God, you may receive what was promised. For yet in a very little while, He who is coming will come, and will not delay. Hebrews 10:35-37 (Psalm 112:7) Spiritual endurance is the characteristic of a person who is not swerved from their deliberate purpose and retains their faith and devotion through even the greatest trials and sufferings. It means to keep continuing forward with an attitude of hope and a smile on the face even when confronted with unpleasant circumstances and great distresses. The breakthroughs people experience in the Bible is accompanied by a spiritual tenacity of their faith in God. Understand your faith will be opposed. Fight the good Xight of faith. Learning the Power of Perseverance Learning the practice of perseverance is vital for lasting over the long haul. We have the greatest blessings of all people, but it requires the greatest patience and perseverance to receive all God has planned for us. Know your destiny - This is your #inest moment! I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me. Philippians 4:13 "Faith sees the invisible, believes the incredible and receives the impossible. Then, it accepts the impossible, does without the indispensable and bears the intolerable." ~ Martin Luther “I lift up my eyes to the mountains, from whence my help comes from.” Psalm 121:1. King David scanned the slopes of Mt. Zion and the crest of Mt. Moriah drawing inspiration from the primary symbols of His nations heritage and destiny. The process of lifting up our eyes, elevating our vision helps us focus on God’s promise and our destiny. The lesson the church is relearning is that we are a people greater than our buildings, our gatherings, our services…. We are a people God has called to be deXined by our great service to others in times like these. Church is more than great services, we are a people who serve greatly. “For whatever things were written before were written for our learning, that we through the patience and comfort of the Scriptures might have hope. Now may the God of patience and comfort grant you to be like-minded toward one another, according to Christ Jesus, that you may with one mind and one mouth glorify the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ.” (Romans 15:4–6 NKJV) Core Point: These are the kind of times that we as Christians are made for. We will look back on this as a de#ining moment in our lives, our church, and in our world. God’s Word is clear, He preserves, protects , provides and equips His people in every dif#iculty that comes. Core Statement: I am prepared for this place in time, it will be our #inest moment! We are destined to be a beacon of hope, in our families, our workplace, in our neighborhoods and in our fellowship together. With God all things are possible!
