PARISH NEWS:

Fr. Greg initiated a Madonna del Sasso

Development Council to help steward the time,

talent, and treasure of the Parish by the laity.

The Parish is so large that our priests are being

torn between pastoral care for the parishioners

and administrative duties.

The Development Council will help alleviate the

administration and work to foster treasure in the

form of endowments and special gifts to help off

set our current deficit spending. We just are not

receiving enough money in the weekly collection

to cover the cost of running the parish.

The Development Council is comprised of six

committees: Stewardship; Annual Mission Ap-

peal; Major Gifts; Memorials; Endowments and

Planned Giving.

You will be hearing and reading more about each

of these committees in the future.

Bishop Danny Garcia will offer a blessing for census

staff and volunteers at the Census 2020 Kickoff on

Tuesday, March 17

, at 3:00 P.M. in Closter Park

(401 Towt Street, Salinas). The event will include your

elected officials from all levels of government, as well

as information booths and volunteers to help people

with census questions. Join us to encourage participation

by motivating families and defeating fear. The census

Consejo de Desarrollo para ayudar a

administrar el tiempo, el talento y el tesoro de la

parroquia por los laicos.

La parroquia es tan grande que nuestros

sacerdotes están divididos entre la pastoral para

los feligreses y los deberes administrativos.

El Consejo de Desarrollo ayudará a aliviar la

administración y trabajará para fomentar el

tesoro en forma de donaciones y regalos

especiales para ayudar a compensar nuestro

gasto deficitario actual. Simplemente no estamos

recibiendo suficiente dinero en la colecta semanal

para cubrir el costo de administrar la parroquia.

The 2020 Census begins April 1

. It is crucial that

EVERYONE be counted, because government investments and

services are based on census counts. Hospitals and clinics,

homeless shelters, road projects, legal services for vulnerable

people, food programs and more all depend on census numbers.

When people are not counted, there is a gap between what the

government funds and what the real need is in our community.

The Church does its best to fill that gap, but we can’t do it all.

The smaller the gap, the better it is for everyone. Be sure to

STAND UP AND BE COUNTED, and urge all your friends to

do it, too!
