3rd Inter School Athletic Meet at DPSG Meerut Road
The 3rd Inter School Athletic Meet was held at DPSG Meerut Road where our students brought
laurels to the school with their talent. Aditi Bhainsora of class XII won 2 silver medals in 100mts
race and long jump and Saanvi Choudhary also of class XII won 2 silver medals in 100 mts and
200 mts race. Ram Swami and Harshmeet Singh of class X also won a silver medal in high jump
and 100mts hurdles respectively.
Fest-O-Commerce 2017
Students participated in Fest-O-Commerce 2017 held at Uttam School for Girls and the theatre team of the school bagged the first
position in the GST Skit and the choir team bagged the 2nd position in the Qawali
Competition.
Delhi University MUN Conference
Ten students participated in the Delhi University
MUN Conference held at Delhi University North
Campus from 19-20th Aug, 2017. They were
assigned to the UNHR Committee with the agenda
‘Humanitarian Intervention and Its Reflection Upon
People trapped in Conflict Areas.’ It was a great
learning experience for the students as they
observed and learnt the nuances of public debate
and expressing their opinion.
Harit Diwali – Swasth Diwali - Ministry of Environment To spread the message of cracker less Diwali, Dr. Harsh Vardhan, Hon’ble Minister of
Environment, Forest and Climate Change launched an awareness campaign titled
“Harit Diwali- Swasth Diwali” on 17th August, 2017 at Ganga Auditorium, Indira
Paryavaran Bhawan, Jor Bagh, Delhi. 60 students along with teachers and principal,
Ms. Anita Sethi participated in all programs like Nukkad Natak, Model Presentation,
Power point Presentation, Mixed Media Presentation and Poster Making.
JHANSI KI RANI – A TRIBUTE TO MARTYRS
The school celebrated the 71st Independence Day with a tribute to martyrs with a dance drama
presentation of Jhansi ki Rani. Principal Anita Sethi hoisted the flag along with the co-ordinators,
and parent and student representatives. A dance to celebrate Janamashtami was presented by the
students followed by the dance drama Jhansi ki Rani which highlighted the freedom struggle of
1857. Scholar badges for class VIII students for session 2016-17 were also awarded.
CAREER COUNSELLING BY JITIN CHAWLA A Career Counselling Session by the renowned Career and Educational Counsellor Mr. Jitin Chawla was
organized for parents and students of classes IX -XII. During the session Mr. Chawla discussed in detail about the traditional as well as the upcoming career options and the importance of selecting a career based on one’s personality and aptitude. He updated the children and parents about the universities and colleges to pursue the
courses. The interactive session kept the audience engaged where Mr. Chawla encouraged the children to look for options beyond the popular ones like digital photography, physiotherapy, psychiatry, yoga experts etc. He
also talked about the courses available in foreign universities and career options with great pay package in
different countries. Psychometric test was also conducted for the students of classes IX-XI on 21st August, 2017 to evaluate the attitude, aptitude, personality and interest for choosing the appropriate career path. This was followed by personal counselling sessions for all students along with their parents to guide them in making
informed choices regarding their careers and streams.
PRIDE AND PROMISE
The students of class II – III presented their annual class presentation “Pride and Promise” depicting
inter-cultural bonding. They presented a theatre act based on historical facts highlighting
tolerance and respect for cultures. The chief guest for the occasion was Mrs. Sarita Chauhan,
Business Transformation Expert and Coach from Evoke Inspiring Lives. The program began with
the lighting of the lamp followed by the Sarvdharma Prarthana. The theater act was followed by
a session on parenting, child behavior and motivational guidance conducted by Mrs. Sarita
Chauhan who later conducted a session with class XI-XII on Entrepreneurship Skills.
CAREER COUNSELLING BY IMS GHAZIABAD
IMS, Ghaziabad conducted a career counseling session for Classes XI and XII Commerce and
Humanities students to bring them abreast of the latest education and career options available in
Management, Law, Hospitality, Management and Mass Communication. The counsellors
informed the students about the leading colleges in India and also gave them a notification
calendar regarding the last date for submission of the forms, date of examination and tips on
preparing for them. They also gave valuable tips as to how to remain calm and confident while
preparing and writing the papers.
Technovations at DPSG Vasundhara.
Our students participated in Technovations held at DPSG Vasundhara. The students participated
in Ad venture and E-Kriti events and won laurels for the school. Parth Aggarwal of class X bagged
the first prize in Ad Venture and Deepali Middha of class X and Yash Malik of class IX also bagged
the second place in E-Kriti. The school team was awarded the overall 1st position among 28 schools.
ISA DEBATE - Pen Is Mightier Than the Sword’
To foster curiosity in impressionable minds and to develop public speaking skills the school
regularly conducts debates and elocutions for students. An Inter Class Debate on ‘Pen Is Mightier
Than the Sword’ was conducted for classes IX -X. Two participants were selected from each class
to put forth their views on the topic. Suhani Singh of class X bagged the first position speaking ‘For’
the topic and Mrinal Tiwary of class IX secured the second place speaking ‘For’ the topic. Speaking
‘Against’ the motion Shreyash Dube of class IX and Srishti Tyagi of class X won the first and second
place respectively.
Beti Bachao Desh Bachao’ As a part of the Community Connect Program, the students took up the initiative to spread
awareness on need to empower the girl child through their ‘Beti Bachao Desh Bachao’ campaign.
The students conducted a rally cum survey at GH-7, Crossing Republik as a part of the
programme. They highlighted the importance of saving and promoting the girl child and the role
of society and family in doing so. The students’ efforts were appreciated and lauded by all the
onlookers.
Visit to Alliance Français French Culture Center To foster global citizenship respect and tolerance towards diverse cultures, the school arranged an
educational visit to Alliance Français French Culture Center - in association with French
Embassy. Students visited the Alliance Library and watched the movie Les concourse. A quiz was
also conducted by the Campus France. Later our students presented a song.
Swacha Bharat Mission’ and Senior Citizens Day A special assembly to celebrate Senior Citizens Day and create awareness for
‘Swacha Bharat Mission’ was organized by the senior students of Satluj House where students
spoke on the importance of elders in the family and society and how we can learn form their
experience. The students also highlighted the need for citizen partnership in the ‘Swacha Bharat
Mission’ and administered a oath to the students to pledge to work for cleanliness in the society
and controll littering. Keeping in view the upcoming examinations senior students also shared tips
on how to prepare for examinations.
SURVEY ON EDUCATION
We take pride in equipping our students in educational as well as social skills. As a part of the
Community Connect Program, the students took up an issue which is very close to their heart - to
check the people’s awareness of the Educational facilities in Ghaziabad. The students conducted
a survey at Gaur Mall (RDC), Ghaziabad as a part of the programme. They questioned parents on
the education system in of Ghaziabad and recorded their feedback and suggestions.
Inter House Sway Presentation Competition An Inter House Sway Presentation Competition was held for the students of class 6 to 8. Students
made beautiful Sway presentations on the theme My India My Pride. The first position was bagged
by Tanmay Agarwal and Anwesha Sharma of Ganga House. The second position was secured by
Aditri Narula and Aryan Tyagi of Satlej House while Chaitanya Tyagi and Siddhi Gupta of
Yamuna House secured the third position.
Celebrating Independence Day
Independence Day was in the Primary wing with activities of finger printing and dabbing, hand
printing flags, paper fireworks, tri-colour flower and dove making, etc. All students participated
in a special assembly and presented a patriotic song, and a quiz. A small talk on the significance of
this day was also presented.
‘Veer Ras’ ‘Veer Ras’ – a Hindi poem recitation competition was also conducted for classes 1 to 3.
Students presented poems and were assessed on intonation, voice modulation,
presentation and X factor. It was aimed to develop presentation skills among the
students.
Celebrating Janmashtami
Janmashtami was celebrated in the pre-primary and primary wing with the tiny tots
coming dressed as Radha and Krishna. A decorated swing was placed along with
decorated pots and students were invited swing Bal Krishna. They later enjoyed videos
and learnt about Lord Krishna and the significance of celebrating Janmashtami.
RAKSHABANDHAN CELEBRATIONS
A Rakhi making competition was organized for students of classes I -III to celebrate
Rakshabandhan. Students brought materials and made them into beautiful rakhis. It
was a fun filled activity and students participated with lots of enthusiasm as they
shared and learnt from each other.
Inter House Patriotic Solo Song Competition
An Inter House solo song competition on ‘Patriotism’ was organized for students of classes VI-XII.
The competition was held in two categories -category I for classes VI-VIII and Category II for IX –
XII. In 1st category the 1st position was bagged by Soumika Agarwal of Satlej House, 2nd position
was a tied between Vedant Gupta of Satlej House and Tanmay Parashar of Ganga House and the
3rd position was bagged by Ikjot Singh of Ganga House. In 2nd category the 1st position was won by
Nandita Ayyar of Yamuna House, 2nd position by Tarun Parashar of Cauvery House and the 3rd
position by Aravya Arya of Satlej House.
Journey from research to reflection….
Class 4 students were engaged in an inquiry based learning session on personal and past histories.
Students focussed on personal journeys through the lenses of change and reflection. They shared
their past histories by using their personal artefacts and had many experiences and perspectives
to share. They did comparative study of explorers through Graphic organizer, web chart and role
play and travel brochure of Venice. Going further they did a survey on travelling period of
explorers and made bar graph. Finally students reflected the characteristics of past civilizations
and societies through collage and PPT on Egyptian Civilization.
Web Presentation A reflection activity on different landforms was taken in class II through a Web presentation.
Children enthusiastically participated, shared their learning, and enjoyed the activity.
SOCIAL SCIENCE WEEK 22nd to 25th of August marked the Social Science week in school’s calendar. All through the
week children were engaged various inter house and inter class activities. Children from classes
IV to XII took up various activities like: Freedom Fighters Pageant, Logo designing for the School
Enterprise Challenge, an Inter House Quiz on Know Your Rights and an Inter class debate on
Should there be reservations? The social science week was an informative and educative week
which helped the students in developing general awareness and vigilance.

Class IV Lotus conducted the morning assembly on the theme - Unity is Strength. The Sarvadharm
Prarthana and English prayer were followed by the vocabulary word of the day -UNITY. This was
followed by thought for the day and a poem titled ‘Unity in Harmony’. The students were updated
with latest happenings around the world. A story was narrated to enlighten the students about the
importance of being united.
MATHS IS FUN
Students of grade 3 discovered facts about multiplication tables on the basis of the logic behind it
and also put their leaning to test. They were provided ice cream sticks and asked to create tables
on their own. They created tables of 2, 3, 4, 5 and 6. The activity was aimed to show the students to
make them curious enough to find their own methods of learning.
HERITAGE QUIZ
With an aim to raise awareness among the students about the conservation and preservation of the
country’s heritage and to sensitize them to the rich cultural diversity of India, an Inter House quiz
competition was conducted for the classes IV and V. After many mind-boggling rounds Cauvery
house was declared the winner.
Club Activities Students in the Home Science club learnt to make pop up rainbow flower using pastel sheets of colors of a
rainbow and the students of Community Club learnt various safety measures to be kept in mind during and after
an earthquake. They also prepared evacuation plan for their school campus. In the Green Brigade Club the
students made pamphlets on Go Green through which they learnt about various aspects of Go Green, renewable
energy and sustainable development. In the Debate Club the students today revised and studied the structure
of a debate and effective oration. In the Science club the children made working models of lungs using plastic
bottle, straws and balloons.
Assembly on Empathy and Swaranjali
Students of IV Daisy participated in an assembly on Empathy where they shared ways
to reflect on how their actions affect others. It also focused on bringing forward their own opinions, thoughts, reflections and share with others.
This special assembly on Empathy was followed by an Intra-class Patriotic song
competition- “Swaranjali” for students of classes IV and V. Class IV Daisy and V Daisy
secured first position whereas Class IV Lotus and V Lotus bagged second position.
National Sports Day
To inculcate respect for the famous Indian sports personality - Dhyan Chand, an Olympian, World
Cup gold medalist, Arjun Awardee and a Former Hockey Captain, the students celebrated
National Sports Day on by participating in Intra Class Role play on National and International
sports personalities. They dressed as various prominent sports from various sports ranging from
hockey, cricket, football etc. Students presented a spectacular and lively show with full zeal and
enthusiasm.
Visit to Post Office
The school believes in enriching the knowledge of the students about different places and the
procedure of working. Students of Starz and Class I Daisy visited a Post office to learn about the
different services available at the Post Office. They were excited to see how the letters were
stamped, sorted and put into different boxes and shelves. They also got the opportunity to interact
with the Postman who was happy to answer their queries and explain how the letters were
collected and delivered to their destinations.
Green Colour Day Celebration Starz celebrated “Green Day” wherein all students came dressed in Green dresses. The day began
with show and tell activities in connection with the color. Students spoke about the color as they
named the vegetables, fruits and other green things and tried their hands at gardening by digging
mud, planting trees and watering them. A story narration of Ant and the Grasshopper was also
conducted after the little chefs made sandwiches in their kitchen activity with green vegetables
and shared it with teachers and their class mates.
Role Play
Students of Class 1 learnt about Community helpers through a role play which was in accordance
with their ongoing trans disciplinary theme ‘How we organize ourselves’. Through this activity, the
students researched their helpers, their uniform, their work and their importance, thus gaining a
better understanding.
PYP Session The school organized a session on IB PYP for the parents of STARZ and classes I to V. The
session was conducted by IB PYP, Coordinator Ms Malavika Yadav wherein she
brought the parents abreast of the nuances of the IB PYP curriculum transaction and
implementation process in the classes. They were made aware of the Learner’s Profile and attitudes that the students are expected to develop.
