DESCRIPTION

Presentation 1 – Amy Clarke and Klara Kozlov, CAF Advisory Team Defining impact When setting goals at the beginning of a business charity partnership, many tend to focus on the input and the immediate output. But partnerships should be looking at the consequential outcomes and impact which follows. It is easy to get lost between outcome and impact. Impact is the value associated with the outcome. With this in mind creating a partnership which delivers impact can become quite complex. Start simple and define what you want your impact to be, then work backwards using that definition to shape your project. The mirror effect In order to create a sustainable partnership which is driven by delivering impact, it is important to ensure each partner shares the same aims, objectives and appetite for the project. Furthermore, ideally where one partner has requirements the other should have the resources to fill these and vice versa. Create a shared value framework by going through the process of outlining aims, objectives etc together and methodically. Ensure that both organisational and societal needs are met by the partnership. Rules to consider  State what you are ‘hoping’ or intend to achieve but be honest if you don't achieve it  Maintain clear and open lines of communication with your partner  Be transparent about challenges, issues and where targets are not met  Keep all stakeholders within both organisations up to date with activity and progress  Discuss ways to improve and develop partnerships and don’t be afraid to change objectives or aims as the partnership progresses
