Non-GAAP Financial Measures

This presentation contains certain non-GAAP financial measures, including core revenue before the effect of foreign exchange, organic core revenue growth, operating income and diluted earnings per share before non-core gains and charges, and free cash flow.

 We define core revenue as total revenue less the revenue of divested businesses. We analyze core revenue growth before the effect of foreign exchange. We also separate and analyze core revenue growth before the effect of foreign exchange among two components, organic core revenue growth and core revenue growth from acquisitions. We define non-core gains and charges as restructuring charges (whether recurring or non-recurring) and certain other items we consider do not reflect our underlying business performance. We define free cash flow as net cash provided by operating activities minus capital expenditures and additions to computer software and other intangibles. We believe these measures are useful because they reflect how we manage and evaluate the performance of our business, they provide an important insight into the underlying health of our business and they are the primary indicators management uses as a basis for the planning and forecasting of future periods and for compensation purposes.
