1 Recommendations Unexpected link flapping may occur when optical cabling is used to connect Dell servers to switches.

To resolve this issue, consider using direct attach copper cables.

The VMware vCloud Director Client integration plug-in is no longer bundled with the VMware vCloud

Director Server installation. To support the upload and download of features such as OVF, OVA, and

media files to the vCloud Director Catalog, this client integration plugin need to be downloaded from

the VMware site.

Verify that the UTC time zone setting is assigned to the vCloud NFV.

HCL-DB alarm pop up on vCenter for cluster Time out

VCNFV-837 As mentioned in VMware KB article https://kb.vmware.com/s/article/2109870, the latest file needs to be downloaded from http://partnerweb.vmware.com/service/vsan/all.json Update this file as often, as recommended by VMware.

VSAN HCL alarm appears since VMware Compatibility Guide Checks are not done against the HCL on the VMware website but rather against a copy stored on the vCenter Server which is outdated

vROps critical alarm - Logical router does not have an uplink interface configured

VCNFV-873 This alarm can be ignored The NSX-DLR is used for internal connections only

On Physical switch, the OSPF routing configuration is missing

VCNFV-1009 Router-id matches the vlan <600> (ip for external network); It also must match the NSX external subnet and VDS configured for the external vlan

ESXi where the VDP datastore is located.

2. Map Ubuntu16.iso with iDRAC Virtual CD-DVD drive.

Note: Make note of the VDP datastore disks naa-ID as it is required in the following step. 3. Boot server with 1st

option of Ubuntu installation menu Try Ubuntu without installing.

4. Once Ubuntu is started, Open the disks utility (partition utility) from UI

5. Check which partitions have VMFS file system

6. Select hard drives which vmfs file system exist and delete.

Note: Do not format or delete VMFS on SD card as the ESXi server resides on it. 7. Unmount the Ubuntu

disk from iDRAC. 8. Reboot server ESXi will

boot with clean disks.

Unsupported guest OS-browser combination message appears in Google Chrome browser when the VMware vCenter Web Client is accessed

VCNFV-1003 The browser/OS combination is not supported and some features might not work correctly. A minimum of Internet Explorer 10, Firefox 30, or Chrome 35 are required for systems running Microsoft Windows. Firefox 30 or Google Chrome 35 are required for systems running MAC OS X. VMware did not document a supported browser version for Linux systems and only refers to the Windows and Mac OS X operating systems. The latest stable version of Google Chrome, version 65.x, is greater than the minimum supported browser version on Windows (Chrome - 39) we can ignore the message. Tried to deploy VM on vCenter using IP instead of a FQDN and received a certificate error while selecting resource

VCNFV-1001 Login to vCenter using FQDN instead of IPs.

Since self-sign certificate is being used, use FQDN instead of IPs

Interfaces of automation VM should be configured with static IPs

VCNFV-994 N/A N/A

On ESXi servers SSH is disabled and cannot be re-enabled using CLI or GUI.

VCNFV-991 Cycle Power ESXi host In ESXi workflow, after installation of ESXi, SSH service is enabled. So it may be the case that SSH service was not enabled after ESXi installation.

Ensure SD cards on servers are clean before attempting a deployment

VCNFV-990 Format the SD card before use

As part of the requirement for the automation deployment, SD cards used to install ESXi on the servers should be formatted. Failure to do this may fail the pre-deployment workflow.

S4048T TOR Switch got crashed during ESXi deployment

VCNFV-985 Need to reboot the switch using the reload command. From the Warning screen, enter Y or Yes to reboot switch

Intermittent pop-up error: "vSphere Web Client session is no longer authenticated Click OK to login again"

VCNFV-982 Click OK to reload the page. vCenter comes back online.

Session expires if not used

VROPS master failed to recover

VCNFV-974 If the environment requires more nodes, add new nodes instead. When a new node is

VMware recommends that nodes not be re-added to vRealize Operations Manager that were already removed

while shutting down VM

added to a vROps cluster, restart the vROps cluster so that node gets added successfully. See https://docs.vmware.com/en/vRealize-Operations-Manager/6.5/com.vmware.vcom.core.doc/GUID-50034A62-ED1B-43A5-86B4-471ECFFC86C4.html

Post-deployment resource-cluster vCenter may randomly exhibit “Registration/Un-registration of a VASA vendor provider has failed” warning message in one of the hosts

VCNFV-967 See https://kb.vmware.com/s/article/2079087

Under certain conditions, vSAN storage providers might not be created automatically after enabling vSAN on a cluster. This issue occurs due to an expired certificate used by the Storage Monitoring Server within the VMware Virtual Center Management Web Services component. See https://kb.vmware.com/s/article/2079087 and https://cormachogan.com/2014/07/14/heads-up-vasa-storage-providers-disconnected-vsan-capabilities-missing/

Unable to login to vCenter using flash option after fresh deployment “Registration/unregistration of a VASA vendor provider has failed”.

VCNFV-966 See https://kb.vmware.com/s/article/2079087 1. Log in to the vCenter

using the vSphere web-client (html) partial functionality

2. Logout 3. In a new tab or new

browser instance, log in with vSphere web-client (flash)

Post-deployment, the vCenter HA under VM settings shows that VM settings are not available because it was manually deployed using vCenter HA advanced configuration

VCNFV-960 N/A There are two deployment options for vCenter HA:

Basic Configuration

Advanced configuration Output for both configurations are the same. Because the resource vCenter is on a management cluster, basic HA configuration cannot be performed in that location. This requires the use of the advanced option to configure resource vCenter HA which does not

display the VCSA HA setting details for resource VCSA which is expected. Reference Link: https://blogs.vmware.com/vsphere/2016/12/new-walkthroughs-vcenter-high-availability

vSAN disk balance alarm raised on cluster

VCNFV-940 N/A This alarm occurs when disks are unbalanced because of the disk usage. There is no risk or impact on product as it is a cosmetic issue and can be safely ignored. Reference Link: https://kb.vmware.com/s/article/2148484

"Critical alarms" visible in VROPS GUI VTEP VMK, NSX hardening guide, NSX Logical Router alarms

VCNFV-924 If user needs to disable SSH for NSX manager, it can be deleted manually by logging into NSX manager GUI post deployment.

SSH needs to be enabled for automation tasks. Also nsx manager administrator needs ssh connection enabled for debugging. Since SSH is enabled, VROPS shows NSX hardening alarm, which can be ignored.

VSAN performance service warning alarm raised in both clusters

VCNFV-916 To enable vSAN performance service 4. Navigate to the vSAN

cluster in the vSphere Web Client navigator.

5. Click Edit to edit the performance service settings.

6. Select the Turn On vSAN performance service check box to turn off the VSAN performance service.

vSAN performance service was disabled on cluster. Resolution: Enabled vSAN performance service on cluster. This is VMWare specific issue. Reference Link: https://kb.vmware.com/s/article/2151692

Link flaps/disconnects on Z9100 switch

VCNFV-905 Use DAC cables with appropriate length (1m, 3m, 5m)

Link flapping

When connected to vCenter using Mozilla browser

VCNFV-904 Use Chrome browser Unknown

input boxes are unable to take input from Keyboard; hence fields can’t be modified.

Post-Validation test: ESXi host randomly loses connection to the vSAN

VCNFV-899 Clear the all browser data including cookies, history and cache, then restart the browser

Issue related to all the browser. Due to cache

Log file time changes during NFV deployment

VCNFV-888 N/A As designed, the Automation VM synchronizes time with the deployed AD/NTP server. Automation VM time was running late than deployed AD time. So Automation VM time was updated after it got synched with deployed AD/NTP server.

Post-deployment vROps alarm raised for VSAN instance

VCNFV-875 N/A This issue occurs because, by design the object status should always be Collecting for user objects when the user is logged on. When the user is logged off, vRealize Operations Manager reports the objects as not receiving data. Reference Link: https://kb.vmware.com/s/article/2149137

Critical alarm- VTEP VMK alarms seen in VROPS

VCNFV-872 N/A VTEP VMK alarms are in the management pod and since the VxLAN in management pod is not enabled, the alarm is expected

Post-deployment occasionally gets an error stack

VCNFV-870 Click Yes from the pop-up and the page returns to the login screen. Enter the SSO credentials again to complete the login.

This issue occurs due to cached object IDs on vSphere Web Client for the logged in user. For example, when a user logs in and accesses a virtual machine, the user data is cached in the corresponding user profile. The cached user details continue to exist even after you delete the user object. Reference Link: https://kb.vmware.com/s/article/2089949

vSAN Configuration Assist shows a failure to “all hosts have a VSAN vmknic configured"

VCNFV-868 Enable VSAN on all the ESXI servers vmkernel nic: 1. Log in to VCSA using

the web client. 2. Navigate to the ESXi

host that exhibits the issue.

3. Click the Configure tab. 4. Under Networking, click

on VMkernel adapters. 5. Click vmk1 then click

Edit. 6. Select vSAN under Port

Properties. 7. Click OK.

VSAN was disabled on one of the ESXI servers vmkernel nic. This is because on that host the VSAN is disabled for vmk1

Post-Deployment, error message pops up when accessing VCSA

VCNFV-867 Create a separate VM for NTP and sync all the ESXi servers and VM’s with that NTP VM

Reference states that if there is time difference of more than 60s in PSC and VCSA, a time sync issue occurs. Unable to reproduce error after Linux NTP. Reference Link: https://vlenzker.net/2016/05/a-server-error-occured-400-or-vcenter-server-once-upon-a-time/

Post-deployment shows SAML authentication

VCNFV-855 To configure vCloud Director to use vCenter Single Sign On, see https://pubs.vmware.com/vcd-820/index.jsp?topic=%2Fcom.vmware.vcloud.admin.doc%2FGUID-67F52905-87CC-4EF2-94E1-9512A681025A.html

Post-deployment, found the Resource cluster vSAN is only using 8 of the 12 installed drives on each host

VCNFV-846 N/A As designed, VMware-vSAN capacity disk group takes a max of seven disks and one disk (SSD) for cache tier. Reference Link: https://docs.vmware.com/en/VMware-vSphere/6.5/com.vmware.vsphere.virtualsan.doc/GUID-07EFD36A-F844-4E7D-830D-3863E4AA617C.html

Post-deployment, NSX ESG controllers and router are not integrated with VRLI

VCNFV-876 N/A This issue occurs because no APIs were found for integration of NSX ESG, controller and router with VRLI. So it is not showing in vROps.

VMware tools are outdate on OMNM, VDP, OME VM’s

VCNFV-963 User must manually install VMware tools on OMNM, VDP and OME

OMNM, VDP and OME VMs cannot be customized therefore the VMware tools are not upgraded

VXLAN ping test does not work from UI

VCNFV- 886 Host are able to ping each other from CLI

Host are able to ping each other from UI before adding the LS to the NSX-DLR but after adding the LS to the DLR they cannot longer ping from UI

An error message pops up on the management cluster when any VM is clicked “Issue information is not available at this time"

VCNFV- 962 Do the manual post-deployment configuration of SRM

This is because SRM is not configured after deployment
