As we look forward to the upcoming year, let’s take a look back at the banner year we just completed. Our Fall Meeting was a huge success with many

young fresh faces. Founder’s Day at the Art Museum was outstanding; we initiated three special sisters to the Golden Circle Degree. 2015 will always hold a special place in our hearts as the year we celebrated the $2 mil-lion milestone for our local philanthropy endowment fund supporting Children’s Hospital Colorado Center for Cancer and Blood Disorders. Each event allowed us to come together for fellowship, to support a cause, and to hold rituals dear to all of us.

The year ahead is full of new beginnings for the Denver Alumnae Chapter. We are reaching out to Denver area Tri Deltas who haven’t been ac-tive in recent years to tell them about all of our exciting chapter activities. Whether you have a little time or a lot of time, there are opportunities to engage with other sisters. Our philanthropy committee is planning new ventures to support our Foundation, Children’s Hospital Colorado and St. Jude’s Research Hospital. We are strengthening our relationship with the DU Gamma Chi Chapter and our Programming Chairs and Young Alums Group have new and fun events planned for us this fall. Please join me in extending a special welcome to the 26 new alumnae members from Gamma Chi who were initiated to the Circle Degree at Pansy Brunch.

I hope you will attend an event this fall. Whether it’s been a few months or a few years, you will be received with warmth and enthusiasm.

Member Spotlight: Laura FlatleyName: Laura Flatley

DDD Member Since: 2008

University: University of Denver

Hometown: Milwaukee, Wisconsin

Occupation: Marketing Manager for Uber in CO

What would you do if you won the lottery? I would go to Disney World and bring all of my friends! And… be one of the Tri-Deltas that has a wing named after her at St. Jude’s Research Hospital. I would also arrange to meet One Direction, at Disney World.

What was your best online purchase ever? An inflatable baby pool that is in the shape of a giraffe. We blew it up in the park and it was used for photos and as a nice comfy bench.

When you take time off, where do you like to go? I like to go back to Wisconsin to visit my family. I also really like to travel inside the US to metropolitan cities. I love going to a new city and trying out new restaurants and museums.

What is your favorite DDD memory? At initiation, we went to Observatory Park with all the senior girls and they told us their favorite stories and that was when I realized the impact Tri-Delta could have on my life and that really brought it full circle for me.

What are you looking forward to in your new role? I am excited to work with the Gamma Chi chapter from an alumna’s perspective and try to bridge the gaps between collegians and alumnae. I really want to find a way to make us more accessible and relatable to the collegians.

Join us to celebrate the start of the 2015-16 year! We will be introducing the new officers and discussing the exciting events planned for Fall.

Date: Thursday, September 10th Time: 6:30-8:30 PM

TRI DELTA CHILDREN'S Hospital Colorado CANCER ENDOWMENT

“Over the years the Tri Deltas have been wonderful partners and supporters of Children’s Colorado. Their foresight in establishing The Tri Delta Children’s Cancer Endowment and continual focus on raising money for it has been amazing to watch. They truly exemplify how a group of volunteers dedicated to a cause can make a significant, immeasurable impact in the lives of children and families now and for generations to come.”

-Tony Troxell, Vice President of Finance and Administration, Children’s Hospital Foundation

THANK YOU ALL for 43 years of philanthropy support. Your donations helped our Children’s Cancer Endowment reach our goal of $2 Million Dollars! The Center for Cancer and Blood Disorders (CCBD) at Children’s Hospital Colorado will receive over $100,000 each year to support clinical care, research, and program development. We fund the CCBD Wellness Program, the Siblings Video, and the Patient/Family Support Fund. THANK YOU for serving as excellent philanthropy chairwomen and committee members! Each of you made a difference by providing event donations and services, and for attending our very special annual benefit for the cancer center. Our philanthropy events and donations have made a lasting imprint in the lives of children with cancer. THANK YOU from the children treated in Children’s Colorado CCBD. THANK YOU ALL for supporting children with cancer, both now and in the future. Please send your tax deductible donation (patron, memorial, or honor) payable to “Tri Delta Fund for Children’s Hospital”, and mail it to Genie Sherman, 7386 S. Ogden Way, Centennial, CO 80122,

Pansy Brunch and Mimi White Spirit of Sisterhood Award

Pansy BrunchPansy Brunch was held at the beautiful Mount Vernon Country Club in Golden, CO. We congratulate the 26 Gamma Chi seniors from the Univer-sity of Denver who experienced the Circle Degree. Welcome to a lifetime of memories, support and Delta Love as you become alumnae! We urge you to seek out alumnae chapters wherever your careers and lives take you, espe-cially if you remain in Denver.

Mimi White Spirit of Sisterhood AwardThe Mimi White Spirit of Sisterhood Award was presented at Pansy Brunch this year to Bunnie Nelson. Mimi White was a caring, outgoing, ener-getic and loving woman. Mimi’s enthusiasm was catching and no one was a stranger to her. Mimi White supported our philanthropy finan-cially and by attending many events. Mimi’s connection to the DU chap-ter was dear to her heart and she sought out  many of the younger mem-bers, always interested in their stories and able to make them feel at ease.

This year’s honoree Bunnie Nelson is a vivacious, spirited member who reaches out to younger members.  This year, she attended our Fall meeting and engaged the younger women who enjoyed her company.  Bunnie enjoys Lunch Bunch and supports our chapter with her presence and zeal.  Congratulations Bunnie!

Congratulations to Bunnie Nelson. She was awarded the Mimi White Spirit of Sisterhood award at Pansy Brunch.

Collegiate News

Recruitment is coming up September 25-28 at the University of Denver’s Gamma Chi chapter. The Denver Alumnae provide snacks and hopefully a dinner during pre-Recruitment and woman-power during the Recruitment parties. Keep your eye on the Facebook page and look for e-mail blasts about signing up.Andrea Cooper is stepping down as Collegiate-Alumnae Relations Chair, having enjoyed the time with the col-legians very much. The new Chairman is Laura Flatley.

Thanks to the wonderful alumnae who took snacks to Gamma Chi during the spring: Elise Archer, Maureen Elmaleh, Dee Russell, Shannon Pray, Annichen Kassel, Katie Byers, Bunnie Nelson, and Andrea Cooper.

The University of Wyoming’s Theta Eta Chapter is gearing up for recruitment Sept. 8-12th. The ladies would really appreciate any support and woman-power Alumnae can provide during this time, or during the Recruitment Preparation week August 24. The Theta Etas are planning a career day and would love Alumnae input. They are looking for women in many different fields to help provide a look at careers after graduation. Please contact Megan Mortimore at 307-921-0546 or at [email protected]. Stay up to date on Theta Eta by visiting the website

http://www.uwyo.tridelta.org/.

We Are Looking For A Few GReat deltas!

Want to get more involved in the Alumnae Chapter? There are lots of opportunities to get to know your sisters and contribute something meaningful to the chapter!

1. Fun Foodies - The Fun Foodies Chair hosts or organizes 1-2 events a year involving food. In the past, we have had a sum-mer pot luck BBQ and Winter Cookie Exchange. The potluck BBQ was a get together for family and friends. The Winter Cookie Exchange is a chance to see your sisters before the holidays and share cookies. This position has a lot of potential, and it can evolve with the interests of the new chair and the members.

2. Historian - The historian takes pictures at Tri Delta events and post on social media. They also keep a chronological calendar of events with photos via Shutterfly for an online photo calendar. You do not have to attend every event. If you are unable to at-tend an event, another member can snap a few photos for you.

3. Delta Shop Representative- This member is in charge of working with Delta Shop in getting a “Shop in a Box” set up at events, as well as communicating with Delta Shop to let them know what items are popular with our members.

If you have any questions about these positions, please contact Lisa Weatherbie ([email protected], 303-710-1190) , Chelsea Gauchman ([email protected], 727-641-9139), or Allison Lodovic ([email protected]).

Philanthropy CommitteeThank you to everyone who attended this year’s philanthropy event for Children’s Hospital Colorado Center for Cancer and Blood Disorders (CCBD). The Delta Derby Dash to $2 Million was a Kentucky Derby theme party held at Children’s Hospital Colorado. The event included live music, a silent auction, delicious dinner and drinks, and speak-ers including Woody Roseland, Child Ambassador, and Children’s Hospital staff. The event raised more than $17,000 for Children’s Hospital Colorado CCBD. Our efforts to support Children’s Hospital Colorado really make a difference in the lives of children and families facing a cancer diagnosis. The kick off meeting for next year’s philanthropy will be Tuesday, September 8th. Watch the e-blasts and Facebook page for meeting details. We hope to see you join the philanthropy committee!

In other philanthropy news, the St. Jude’s Give Thanks Walk will take place on Saturday, September 26th at Sports Authority Field at Mile High. This is much earlier than past years, so be sure to mark your calendars!

We are in need of a volunteer to run the Delta Shop in a Box. Please contact Stephanie Campbell ([email protected] ) or Danielle Foss ([email protected]) if you are interested in this volunteer opportunity.
