About the ConferenceDemonetisation is the act of stripping a currency unit of its status as a legal tender and is necessary whenever there is a change of national currency. Demonetisation being the buzz word in the Indian economy has been used by the government as a measure to remove the functioning of parallel economy.

To curb the flow of black money and fake currency in the economy, thon 8 Nov 2016, government took an initiative to remove the old Rs.

500 and Rs. 1000 notes and demonetised these currencies from the Indian market. Many questions have been raised by various people regarding the validity & correctness of this rather extreme step taken by the government. Many pros & cons have come up and a wide array of views, opinions & explanations have come to the fore by various people from all walks of life.

Therefore, in order to understand & examine this step of the government in true light & to clear the confusion prevailing over it, and ultimately to understand the likely impact of demonetization on the Indian Economy across the whole gamut of sectors which make up the fabric of modern India, this International Conference on “Demonetisation: Is It The End or A New Beginning” is being organised. The conference also aims to aid in giving a platform to academicians, young scholars and researchers, policy makers, practitioners & the business fraternity, to participate and express their view points from different perspectives.

OBJECTIVE OF THE CONFERENCE: The objective of this conference is to bring academicians, researchers, managers, bus inessmen, government representatives, students and other stakeholders to a common platform to present, discuss and debate on the implementation of demonetisation & its actual & anticipated impacts on the various sectors of the economy & industries.
