We are pleased to announce this year’s American Cancer Society Denim and Diamonds Gala will be held Saturday, February 25, 2012 at the High Country

Conference Center. The 2012 event promises to be a spectacular night for the American Cancer Society. Every year the Denim and Diamonds tradition grows. This year our guests will be treated to exciting entertainment, sumptuous fine foods, amazing auctions, and much more. All the while they will know funds are being raised to provide support for those battling cancer and the continued research that will one

day lead to the elimination of cancer. We are optimistic about the future, but still have a great deal to do before we reach our goal of prevention and a

cure in our lifetime.

For nearly a century, the American Cancer Society has fought for every birthday threatened by every cancer in every community. By taking what we’ve learned through research and turning it into what we do, we have contributed to a 15 percent decrease in the overall cancer death rate between the early 1990s and 2005. That means that we helped avoid about 650,000 cancer deaths and created the potential for more birthday celebrations. Overall, 11 million cancer survivors in America will celebrate a birthday this year.

Our progress against cancer is no mere coincidence. We have made advances by setting goals and focusing on priorities that allow the Society to have the greatest impact. This is why the Society is committed to providing the highest quality information to cancer

patients and caregivers, supporting innovative cancer research, improving the quality of life for patients with cancer, increasing the prevention and early detection of cancer, and eliminating

disparities in cancer care.

This year will mark the 20th year of the Denim and Diamonds Gala. Please join other area business leaders as they celebrate the lifesaving work that happens each and every day at the American Cancer Society in the fight against cancer. Denim and Diamonds Gala would like to directly help children whose lives have been touched be cancer. We do this by offering a special opportunity to make a direct, tax-deductible contribution to send children to Arizona Camp Sunrise. At the American Cancer Society’s Arizona Camp Sunrise kids get a chance to spend a week in the wilderness of Payson.

Camp Sunrise is a medically supervised week long camp. Children living with cancer can – through a week of outrageously fun camping activities – have happy childhood experience that have been missed due to time spent dealing with cancer, and its treatment. In many ways, it is a typically summer camp, offering a wide variety of supervised activities: from swimming, fishing, arts, crafts, and outdoor games of all kinds - there is never a dull moment in Camp Sunrise.

The 78 acres of wilderness is located at the RC Boy Scout Ranch just outside of Payson, Arizona. Kids are able to be free of their worries and have a great time with their friends. At the end of their week long retreat, they pack many dirty socks, wet shoes, handmade crafts and the priceless memories that will last a lifetime.

The American Cancer Society Arizona Camp Sunrise is a place where kids can kids, not the kids with cancer. Each $1,000 donated will go towards sending one child to camp. Your company will be listed on signage and in the program book as “An Arizona Camp Sunrise Sponsor”. You are welcome to sponsor more than one child.
