RESEARCH INTERESTS Currently assessing the impact of summer time learning and out of school programming on the
empowerment of socially and economically disadvantaged youth and families; examining empowerment
models and evidence-based programs using peer mentorship and leadership development strategies; and
investigating mechanisms to address recidivism and truancy among juvenile offenders who populate
diversion alternatives programs.

• Design, develop, direct, and evaluate Youth Enrichment Services Program for Socially and Economically
disadvantaged young people ages 5-13 Multidisciplinary six-week summer program. Designed to

two President Bush, “points of light” Service awards for West Virginia.
