The Forest Protection Program includes activities on protection of 36, 121

hectares untenured forest lands, monitoring of entry points and strengthening of

Multi-Sectoral Forest Protection Committee (MFPC). Other activities of the Sector

are the following: scaling of 22.12 cu.m. and re-scaling of 59.56 cu.m. from

lumberyards of lumber dealers, furnitures and fixtures and old stock lumber

materials requesting for transport to its final destinations.

The Forest Development Program accounted 100% accomplishments on all its

targets such as technical assistance to LGUs, schools in the maintenance of mini-

forests, roadside plantations and maintenance of established plantations. The

Catanduanes Parole and Probation Office is regularly conducting its quarterly tree

planting activities in compliance with Joint Memorandum Circular No. 201.

Significant accomplishments under the Land Management Services includes :

titling of school sites with draft proclamation drafted, reviewed and indorsed to

DENR V, Legaspi City, updating of Foreshore permits and licenses, processing of

foreshore applications and endorsed to DENR V, Legaspi City, resolution of land

disputes, claims and conflicts and gathering of data on climate change.

The Comprehensive Agrarian Reform Program (CARP) is focused on the

acceptance, processing and issuance of Free Patent. Other activities of the

Sector are the following : provision of technical assistance to LGUs and private

individuals on land matters and concerns, conduct of isolated survey at San

Miguel, Catanduanes, research and verify the status of lots covered by Free

Patent Applications.

The Protected Area and Wildlife

Section is in-charge with the

management of the proclaimed

Catanduanes Watershed Forest

Reserve (CWFR) which covers 8

municipalities with a total area

of 26, 010 hectares. It is being

managed by the Protected Area

Management Board (PAMB)

and regularly conducting its

quarterly meeting to discuss

matters pertaining to Protected

Area (PA)management.

Other activities of the Sector includes: patrolling of CWFR, conduct of special

events such as the International Year of Biodiversity, cave management,

protection and conservation program. The Luyang Cave in San Andres,

Catanduanes was the target site for the preparation of Cave Management Plan.

The Wildlife Conservation and Protection Program was able to tagged and

released six (6) marine turtles back to its habitat and conducted twelve (12)

wildlife inspections province wide.

Two sites (San Andres and Panganiban) in Catanduanes were recommended as

RAMSAR.

The Coastal and Marine Management Section had attained 100%

accomplishments an all targets set for the year which includes: resource

assessment of coastal and marine areas, rehabilitation of mangrove areas in

partnership with LGUs and other coastal stakeholders, maintenance and

protection of mangrove areas and provision of technical assistance on the

delineation of municipal waters.
