AboutWheelSizes:Smaller casters with a 2 1/2” diameter were used starting with the shorter versions of self-contained system in the later 1990s. December 1, 2006, the Triton series units began using larger 3” casters. The Classic Series systems began using the 3” casters in June of 2007.

AboutCasterPlateSizes:The caster plates for the 2 1/2” size used a smaller mounting plate of 1” x 1”. The 3” casters changed to a larger mounting plate size of 1 5/8” x 2”. The Ergo V’s system used the small mounting plate for all shipments.

AboutASIHolders

We provide numerous size and types of holders in order to accommodate the various air & electric instruments used. These holders are designed to fit ASI’s 12-sided holder bar.

Auto–This holder automatically allows the handpiece or instrument to be used when pressing the foot control. There is a small ball in back of the base of the holder that pops out when the instrument is removed. There is also a lever on the right side of the holder used for locking out the handpiece if desired.

Standard– Used to secure instruments that are hand operated only (ie: air water syringe).

universal–Used for standard air handpiece connections and other instruments that utilize that same shape.

Custom– Specially machined holders accommodate the exact fit of various instruments such as electric motors. Please refer to the part number to locate the correct holder for your replacement application.

Color– Standard color is beige. Add a “W” to the very end of the part number to order White holders.

Standard connectionThe pneumatic connections in ASI delivery units are a standard connection which accommodate handpieces made in accordance with ISO standards. The connection provides the following functions:

• Drive Air – This air travels up the tubing to operate/drive the turbine in high speed handpieces or the air motor in air low speed handpieces.

• Exhaust Air – As the drive air leaves the turbine or air motor, it exhausts down this tubing and exits through the oil mist recovery jar.

• Chip Air – An air stream which blows onto the cutting bur; assists in removing debris and aids in visibility and cutting while using a highspeed handpiece. Also used to atomize coolant spray, generating a fog mist. Not all air driven high speed handpieces are ported for chip air; verify this option for the brand of handpiece being used.

• Coolant Spray – Allows water to flow up to high speed handpieces and to be sprayed onto the bur.

• Blank Hole or Fiber Optic Connection – This hole is non-operative, but is intended to still allow the use of a fiber optic handpiece in the standard non-fiber optic connection. If the tubing is fiber optic, it will either have a bulb in this location for 5-Hole connections or two electrical sockets for 6-Pin style fiber optic handpiece connections.
