Did you know that the Missis-sippi and Louisiana Dental Labora-tory Associations have merged? Our new name is Dental Techni-cians Society. And with the new name comes a new format for our 33rd Annual Fun ‘N Sun Week-end- which is the Hottest Meeting in the Southeast in Biloxi, MS. To any new members or attendees, we invite you to experience learning in this beautiful, fun-filled environment. To all that are returning, we are sure that you will still be immensely pleased with course topics and hands-on table clinics while socializing the way that it can only be done in Biloxi!

We are pleased to once again be showcasing this event at the Beau Rivage Resort and Casino. The Beau is where you want to be for cutting edge industry technology for your CE credits during the day and casinos, sandy beaches, awesome pools, spas, mouth-dropping entertainment, and some of the finest dining choices available! Biloxi has it all and we are happy to offer it to you at our host hotel.

Regardless of your current role in the dental industry, we are certain that you will leave the Fun ‘N Sun weekend equipped with the knowledge and the tools to enable you to take your facility to the next level. Our weekend allows you to witness and experience first-hand products and educational seminars that will have you excited to return to work on Mon-day to begin or continue networking with all the people you will meet July 26-29!

Being with us in Biloxi will give you the opportunity to earn your required continuing education credits by attending our lectures, table clinics, etc. Swing by our Exhibit Hall with the hottest demos and displays being given by the bright-est names in the industry! And just when you thought you couldn’t handle anymore, you are given the opportunity to earn a little cool CA$H. Many of the exhibitors offer trade show specials for attendees. Labs often save enough money to offset the cost of their registration! Our exhibitors gener-ously help sponsor this Fun ‘N Sun meeting and are here for all of your dental laboratory needs. Make a list, check it twice, and bring it with you and save on your purchase here in Biloxi, where you could be the biggest winner of all!

Golf. Fishing. Cold hard cash. Beautiful beaches. A relaxing massage. Great food. Take a break from the bench in beautiful Biloxi, Mississippi at the Beau Rivage Resort and Casino July 26-29, 2018 at the 33rd Annual Fun ‘N Sun Weekend. Nowhere else this hot can be this cool!

Why should I stay at the host hotel?

In order to provide great rates to attendees and to keep the costs of the meeting down, FNS must agree to fulfill a certain number of sleeping rooms at the host hotel during the meeting dates. If meeting attendees book rooms at hotels other than the meeting hotel or outside the room block and the association is not able to fill a high percentage of the contracted sleeping rooms, penalties and special attrition charges for rooms not filled become the financial responsibility of the organization.

How does this affect me as an attendee?

If more meeting attendees choose to stay at alternative hotels or book rooms at rates that are outside the block, this forces FNS to book less sleeping rooms while utilizing the same amount of meeting space. This increases the costs of operating the event resulting in higher attendance fees. We’re working hard to keep the costs down and we appreciate your help!

Three choices for rooms: Run-of-House, 2 Doubles, 1 King. Run-of-house is default. If you request Doubles or King, you will be charged an additional $10 per night. Rates are single/double and do not include applicable taxes and resort fee.* Additional charges apply for third & fourth person per room. First night’s room may be charged to credit card when reservation is made. This deposit is non-refundable if a cancellation occurs within 48 hours of arrival.

The Beau Rivage requires a credit card to be presented at check in for incidentals, even if you prepay for your room charges. For your safety, the Beau Rivage requires a photo ID at check in. The hotel is no longer available to accept personal or company-issued checks at the front desk during the check in/out process. If group attendee is paying with a check, all checks must be received at least 20 days prior to arrival to assure processing of the payment before check in. This is for individual reservations, as well as groups and sub blocks.*Daily resort fee of $9.00 covers: daily newspaper, access to fitness facility, bottled water (2 per guest room), access to notary, unlimited local and 800 calls, printing of boarding passes, wireless Internet services, compli-mentary parking and pool access. Inclusions are subject to change without notice.

How CAD/CAM and Other Digital Technologies Impact the Dental LabJIMMY STEGALLFRIDAY 8:00 – 9:30 AM | LOCATION: MAGNOLIA E-F

Someone recently said “computers are like bikinis... they save people a lot of guesswork.” Digital technologies, all controlled by computers, have radically

changed the way we operate and produce restorations. Finding the best way to fit these tools into our labs can be challenging.

This program will attempt to help sort through this challenge by providing a review of the most significant advancements in both laboratory and clinical process and how to best utilize them to impact accuracy, productivity, and profitability. Topics will include:

The dental lab industry was built by talented people and equipment will never replace that. We will attempt to show the importance of how the modern digital technician can utilize technolo-gies to create quality restorations with more predictability, quality, and speed. When you leave this program, we hope you will feel as Steve Jobs did:

“Technology is nothing. What’s important is that you have a faith in people, that they’re basically good and smart, and if you give them tools, they’ll do wonderful things with them.”

With over 37 years of experience, Jimmy Stegall is a seasoned dental lab operations and management executive who has presented hundreds of programs to dental societies, study groups, and dental students in the US and Canada. He is a published author and has as-sisted in research projects with Dentists, universities, and manufacturers. After a successful 30+ year career helping build and lead a large dental lab in SC, Jimmy served as Division President of a 60 member dental lab group, and is now the National Accounts Manager for Dentsply Sirona Implants – Atlantis Division.

Missing the Point!JEREMIAH NAAS, CDT

FRIDAY 9:45 – 11:15 AM | LOCATION: MAGNOLIA E-FA lecture discussing how analog fabrication of RPD’s is still relevant in an ever

growing digital environment. Through the use of a few simple steps analog frame fabrication can achieve maximum satisfaction. Handmade is here to say, “Don’t miss the point!”

Jeremiah Naas CDT/DTG is a second generation dental lab professional and lab owner. With currently 17+ years of experience his focus remains on complex handmade high qual-ity removable devices. Born in Ft. Lauderdale, a native Floridian, Jeremiah currently lives in Citrus county and is the owner of Inverness Dental Arts. Jeremiah has three kids, one teen-age daughter and two little boys, that always come first in his life. Whether it’s walks to the bus-stop or family camping and fishing trips, quality time with the family is his highest priority. Growing up in the dental lab profession both his parents, dental technicians themselves, in-troduced him to the field of dental technology. Through years of hard work and dedication with the guidance of his parents he quickly fell in love with cast partial frameworks. He has been chasing excellence with his frameworks ever since. Jeremiah served on the Board of Direc-tors for the FDLA from 2013-2017, holding the position of Treasurer for the 2016-2107 year. Inverness Dental Arts is an IWC member of BEGO since 2006, with Jeremiah being trained in the company’s specific systems and procedures for framework fabrication. Being a bit dif-ferent and doing a bit different is Jeremiah’s goal with frameworks. From his smooth palatal designs, hidden clasp design, opaqued clasps and pre-setting of teeth prior to fabrication, he strives to elevate frameworks to the next level for the patient.

Cubic Containing Zirconia: Laboratory and Clinical ConsiderationEDWARD A. MCLAREN, DDS, MDCSATURDAY 8:45 – 11:00 AM | LOCATION: MAGNOLIA E-F

Recently, versions of Zirconia have been released that are much more translu-cent than the original Zirconia, with claims of esthetic potential to be used in mono-lithic form for incisors, and are also claimed to be as translucent as the translucent forms of well accepted lithium disilicates. This new zirconia material has an altered structure and increased amount of “dopant” that increases the amount of the cubic

form of crystal. This presentation will explore some of the available products of this newer trans-lucent Zirconia, compare it to older versions of zirconia, compare physical properties of different zirconia’s, discuss potential long term clinical situations related to physical properties, compare translucency differences from old and new materials, compare translucency to translucent forms of Lithium Disilicates, and Present and anterior monolithic and posterior molar case presentation with the newer translucent zirconia both gradient and painted versions for audience evaluation as to esthetic value. And will cover some of the customizing techniques the author uses with this new material.
