Assessment Targets/ Measurable Outcomes/ObjectivesData compiled by UNCP Police & Public
Safety will be primarily used, particulary
data collected for the 2014and 2015
calendar year. Additionally, Department
of Education statistics collected from
colleges and universities that fall under
Clery reportable guidelines can be used
to show successes of the program
campus police has implemented here to
compare against other universities.
As Clery reporting guidelines mandate calendar year reporting (January 1 -
December 31), our data for determining our assessment targets and objectives
will not be fully known until at least 1-31-16. This is a specific variable to be
compared to the prior known year's total number of Clery reportable burglaries.
It is anticipated that by implementing the strategies described, that the number of
burglaries will be reduced by the percentage target of 20% due to educating the
UNCP population.

1. During Freshman Seminar sessions provided at the
beginning of the Fall 2014 semester, provide safe practices
information on the importance of situational awareness as it
applies to burglary prevention. To begin September 1, 2014
through October 31, 2014 2. Revive the "gotcha" campaign
initiative during particular hours of the school day where all
residence halls are checked for the prevalence of unlocked
doors to student's rooms. To begin August 20, 2014 until last
day of classes Fall 2014. 3. Disseminate information concerning
unsolved break-ins using alternative media (i.e. Pine Needle,
ABP Newsletter, UNCP-TV, and University radio. This is an
ongoing strategy to be used when break-ins arise within the
campus community. 4. Equip patrol cars to maintain an
effective reach and frequency advertising campaign through
the use of a scrolling marquee LED message sign that provides
reminders of individuals to lock and secure not only their
residence hall rooms but also their automobiles parked on
campus. Researhc to begin August 1, 2014 to find an
appropriate product, and installed by October 31, 2014. 5.
Complete a security survey for each residence hall to a
distance perimeter of 100 ft. of the actual structure for
improvements in lighting, visibility, and surveillance; and study
accessible entry points to see if any improvements can be
made. TO begin August 1, 2014 and extends throughout the
school year. 6. Find appropriate training through RCC or NCJA
for burglary and theft prevention to assist campus police in
this initiative. To begin August 1, 2014 and extends
throughout the calendar year. 7. Provide in-depth
investigation from the initial report of a burglary by using
solvability factors in an attempt to discover patterns of
"cluster burglaries" to prevent continuous, repeat burglaries
occurring over a short time frame with the same modus
operandi. This is a perpetual strategy, to be initiated August
31, 2014. It should be stated that only strategy 1 and 5 can
be given a timeframe for completion. The others will be done
on a continuous basis for the full calendar year. Strategy 1
