Community Conservation Partnerships Program Grants
November 2012
The DCNR Community Conservation Partnerships Program grants for 2012 make an investment of $26.5
million in 198 projects to revitalize communities, create new recreational opportunities, and conserve
natural resources throughout Pennsylvania.
The DCNR grant program combines several funding sources into one. Funding comes from:
Keystone Recreation, Park and Conservation Fund (Key 93)
Environmental Stewardship Fund (ESF)
Land and Water Conservation Fund (LWCF) – federal monies
Pennsylvania Recreational Trails (PRT) – federal monies
Snowmobile/ATV Fund
Statewide/Regional Grants
Allegheny Ridge Corporation, $200,000 from ESF, to implement the Kiski Valley Outdoor Connections
Plan to include installing way-finding signage and interpretive kiosks in host communities; provide
technical assistance to partner organizations on community development initiatives; develop tools for
outreach and communication; and facilitate the activities of the Main Line Canal Greenway Alliance
including the development of boating access areas in Mount Union and Mapleton boroughs, Huntingdon

Appalachian Trail Conservancy, $160,000 from ESF, to coordinate the South Mountain Conservation
Landscape Initiative; implement the South Mountain Conservation Plan; develop the South Mountain

Lincoln Highway Heritage Corridor, $100,000 from ESF, to further develop the Lincoln Highway

Conduct outreach meetings to strengthen the Lumber Heritage Region Civilian Conservation Corps

National Road Heritage Corridor, $138,000 from ESF, to coordinate and manage the construction of the
Sheepskin Trail; assist in the implementation of the Laurel Highlands Interpretive Plan; implement
recommendations of the “Structural Analysis, Design Guide and Marketing Prospectus” in Brownsville’s
historic commercial district; research and identify vacant parcels along the National Road corridor for
possible acquisition; and pilot a cooperative purchasing program focused on supplying sustainable and

Enthusiasts (SCORE) program curriculum with state of the art technology to present ATV safety training,
