DEPARTMENT OF ELECTRICAL AND ELECTRONICS ENGINEERING

The department was established in the year 1999. Initially it offered under graduate course with the

strength of 60 and successfully increased to 120 during the academic year 2004-2005 and 180 in the

year 2011. It also offers post graduate course in M.Tech-Power Electronics and Drives from the year

2011 with an approved intake of 18.

The Department of Electrical and Electron-

ics Engineering offers under graduate

course in Electrical and Electronics Engi-

neering and Post Graduate course in

M.Tech-Power Electronics and Drives with

industry required syllabus. It offers Profes-

sional and need based continuing education

to conduct training Programmes in frontier

areas of Electrical Engineering on par with

consultancy and technical services to the

industry.

The Department stands as a unique centre for

promotion of excellence in Electrical Engineering and has been successful in fulfilling its role in this

end of rocketing technologies. The faculty members have the tireless effort in contributing research pa-

pers to International journals like IEEE, Elseveir and Springer etc.

Electrical and Electronics Engineering is multi-disciplinary by nature, representing a veritable syn-

ergy of different technologies. To meet the challenges of the new millennium, we train our students in

the areas of artificial neural networks, fuzzy logic, finite element analysis, computer aided design of

electrical machines, micro-controllers and digital signal processing, generation, transmission and distri-

bution of power, Power system operation and control, Electrical Machines, Power Electronics and their

control using computer methods etc.

To be a stimulating place to learn and practice technology and to become a leading college of

engineering nationally and internationally recognized for its outstanding education research

and outreach programs.

SMART INDIA HACKATHON -2019

Our second year EEE students R. Dhanush Varmaa, P. Prasath, S. Inbarasan, V. S.

CAPACIT-2019

Our III year Students S.Vengadesh, M.Hariharan & K.Selvakumaran and

R.Dhanushvarma & S.Shylesh Pre final year & second year students presented the meritorious work on “Intensify method for characterization of ultra-capacitors by uniform current

charging” and “Performance analysis on graphene Based composite structure of electrode in

ultra-capacitor” in 9th international conference on CAPACIT ‟19 held on 14th and 15th of Febru-ary, 2019 at New Delhi. They honoured with memento by the Technical Committee Chairman

Dr.R.Venkatesh of TDK electronics AG in Germany and Session Chairman Dr. R L Sharma Man-

aging Director, CTO in SPEL Supercapacitor. Under the Guidance of Mr.K.Arun, Assistant Pro-fessor & Mr.C.Adrien perianayagam, Assistant Professor , Department of EEE.

ISTE NATIONAL AWARD 2019

Our Third year EEE students Ms. S. ILAKKIYA, Ms. S. MADHUMITHA have received PUNJAB TECHNICAL UNIVERSITY AWARD FOR YOUNG ENGINEER INNOVA-TORS and also received FIRST PRIZE along with cash prize of Rs.5000/- and certificate on the Topic “SHOE BASED AMBULATORY PREVENTION OF DIABETIC FOOT ULCERS” from Prof. PRATAPSINH KAKASO DESAI, President of ISTE, New Delhi and Prof. VIJAY D.VAIDYA, Executive Secretary of ISTE, New Delhi on 28th January 2019.

TATA CRUCIBLE HACKATHON 2019

Our Third year students P.Sriram, G.Sundarkiran , A. Gowtham, V.Seenuvasanm of EEE department had presented their project titled “ Oil Mist filter in operation for coolant mist extrac-tion” under the Guidance of Mr.R.Ragupathy , Assistant professor , EEE, which held in New Delhi on 30th March 2019.

SWARM DRONE COMPETITION-19

Our EEE students S.Yuvankumar, P.Santhoshkumar , S.Deva , E.Rajkumar from IIIrd year had successfully participated in the PHASE 1 of the IAF “SWARM DRONE COMPETI-TION” held from 18 December 2018 to 23 December 2018 at Air Force auditorium, New Delhi. They have presented the idea on 22 December 2018 and got appreciation from the jury members. They have also received presentation certificate from Mr.Naval Jagota, GP capt, DAWSC, Air HQ(VB).

JAGRUTI „19

Our students L.R.Ravindranath and Vinod Chikkala of third year and K.Senthamarai Kannan and D.Vasanth kumar of second year from Electrical and Electronics Engineering had won third place with cash prize of Rs. 10, 000/- on the Topic “Ionic Movement Based Desali-nator” and “AGRI IOT” respectively in „Jagruti‟19‟- 3rd National Youth Conference held on 12th& 13th January 2019 at JN TATA AUDITORIUM, IISC, Bengaluru which was inaugurated by Padmashri.Anna Hazare.

INTECHO‟19

Our EEE students V.Barrath,V.Anirudh of second year secured first place in the event ROBO WAR at the annual National level inter-college technical symposium INTECHO‟19 orga-nized by the Department of Instrumentation Engineering, Madras Institute of Technology, Chennai held on January 25 and 26, 2019. Eventually the winners were felicitated by the Director cum Principal Dr.V.S.K Venkatachalapathy , Head of the Department Dr.S.Anbumalar.

SCHMIT 2K19

PRAGHADEESWARAN.M, LOKESH.L, MOHAMED AZARUDEEN.S.A, pre final year students from the Department of Electrical and Electronics Engineering, won the 1st prize in the National Level Project Expo with a cash prize of Rs.12,500 titled “Safety Bangles” for the event “SCHMIT 2K19” conducted by SRI MANAKULA VINAYAGAR INSTITUTE OF TECHNOLOGY,Puducherry.

MITILENCE 2K19

Our EEE students Nallam Ramalakshmi and D.Jarin Sarah Lourdes from IIIrd year have won the FIRST PRIZE in the ROBOTICS EVENT conducted by MVIT, Puducherry (MITILENCE-2K19) on 07 thFebruary 2019.

TECHNOVANZA 2018

LOKESH.L, III year student from the Department of Electrical and Electronics Engineer-ing, won the 1st prize in the National Level Project Expo with a cash prize of Rs.30, 000/- titled “Safety Bangles” for the event “MAKERS SQUARE” in the biggest techno-managerial fest was held on 28th, 29th and 30th December 2018 in Mumbai.

IT OLYMPIAD 2018

Our students S.Shylesh of second year and C.Rakesh @ Sooriyaprakash of final year from Dept. of Electrical and Electronics Engineering were selected to work on the meritorious work on “Storing solar energy in the compressed gas for future purpose” and “Astute technique for road monitoring” respectively in College of Engineering, Pune (COEP) in “Integrated Tech-nology” Olympiad 2018.

Value added courses were conducted for our II year and III year students in the areas of C,C++ & Java Programming in order to enhance the programming skills of our students by Chakrika solutions , Puducherry.

In-house Training programs were conducted for II year & III year students on MATLAB and Multisim softwares on Saturdays to enhance the students Tech-nical skills.
