I. Permanent Housing Need for Fiscal Year 2012

FamiliesIn Fiscal Year 2012, D HS expects approximately 50,000 du plicated applicatio ns for familyshelter services. Approximately 32% o f duplicated families applying will remain intemporary housing as eligible shelter entrants.

In FY2012, DHS will assist all families exit shelter as quickly as possible. Families will beassisted in accessing employment services and o ther financial and social supports to preparefor independen t living. Wh en available, appropriate families will be referred to NYNY IIIand Housing Preservation and Development (HPD) housing. Families may independentlyap ply for New York Cit)' Housing Authority (NYCHA) housing, if available.

Single AdultsIn Fiscal Year 2012, DHS expects to place at least 8,500 single adults into pcnnancmhousing. Approximately 80% of th ose individuals will be placed in private hou sing or will bere-housed with family. DHS plans to relocate 1,700 (20% approximately) single adults'intopermanent supportive housing in Fiscal Year 2012.

II . Transitional Housing for Fiscal Year 2012

FamiljesDHS is projected to have a maximum of 10,500 units for families in transitional hou sing inFiscal Year 2012. DHS estima tes that 10,000 units \\;]1 be needed during the peak month ofFiscal Year 2012.

Single AdultsDHS is projected to have a total o f 9,800 units available for single adults in the peak monthof Fiscal Year 2012. D HS estimates that 9,400 beds will be needed during the same month.
