It gives me immense pleasure to share newsletter of the Mechanical Engineering Department June 2019. Mechanical Engineering Department is the most happening department of the School of Technology. Newsletter gives an overview of the activities carried out by students, staff and faculties during the month. You may please share your feedback, comments & suggestions to the coordinators.

Industry 4.0 (the fourth Industrial revolution) encapsulates the future development trends to achieve more intelligent manufacturing. As we @ PDPU embark on this journey to towards Industry 4.0, I am Happy to Introduce the next issue of the Newsletter which not only share with all its readers the latest news and developments in the Department of Mechanical Engineering but would also be sensitizing all of us on the latest trends and developments in the Fourth Industrial Revolution.
The limitless power of technology to do good and the conviction of my faculty colleagues and students that the golden age is ahead of us - and not behind us – brings about the best in all of us which is reflected in their achievements.

Dr. Jay Vora delivered Faculty Seminar on 11th June 2019 followed by the
Departmental meeting. The meeting was then taken forward with vision presentation by newly joined
faculties—Dr. Vivek Kumar, Mr. Simr.anjeet Singh, Dr. Parnika Shrivastava, Dr. Biranchi Sahoo and Mr. Vipin Das.
Dr. Vishvesh Badheka jointly with support of mechanical lab staff conducted Skill
Development Program –III having participation of 20 students during the workshop from 3rd June to 7th June 2019. (Report 1)
Dr. Vishvesh Badheka coordinated with Indian Oil Corporation for celebration of
World Environment Day on 5th June at PDPU, followed by visit to various PDPU labs of IOCL officials. (Report 2)

Dr. Vishvesh Badheka delivered an invited talk on ‘’Laser for Additive Manufacturing &
Material processing’’ on 21st June 2019 during open house organised by Sahajanand Laser
Technology Ltd, Gandhinagar, followed by visit to technical facilities.
Dr. Pawan Sharma delivered an expert talk on " DOE application in 3D printing" in
TEQIP-III sponsored Two week Short Term Training Programme organized by Department
of Production Engineering, Birla Vishvakarma Mahavidyalaya, Vallabh Vidyanagar on
21st June 2019.
Dr. Vivek K Patel delivered expert talk at BVM-Vidyanagar on "Evolutionary optimization
algorithms" in TEQIP-III sponsored short term training program on "Design of experiments".

Dr. Vivek Kumar has completed B.E in Mechanical Engineering from C.R State College of Engineering, Murthal, Sonipat and M.Tech in Design of Mechanical Equipment/Machine Design from IIT Delhi. He submitted Ph.D. thesis in Department of Mechanical and Industrial Engineering from IIT Roorkee with specialization in “Study of Hydrostatic/Hybrid thrust pad bearings considering Non-Linear behaviour of Lubricants”. He joined Department of Mechanical Engineering on 3rd June 2019. He has contributed 06 publications and attended 03 Conferences.
Mr. Simranjeet Singh has completed B. Tech degree in Mechanical Engineering from Kurukshetra University, M.Tech in Machine Design from NIT Kurukshetra (Gold Medalist). He submitted his PhD thesis at IIT Roorkee with specialization in “ Static and dynamic analysis of sandwich Functionally graded material plates”. He joined Department of Mechanical Engineering on 3rd June 2019. He has contributed 07 publications and attended 03 Conferences.
Dr.. Parnika Shrivastava has completed B.Tech, M.Tech. and Ph.D., (Mechanical Engineering) from PDPM Indian Institute of Information Technology, Design and Manufacturing, Jabalpur with specialization in “Single Point Incremental Forming, Dieless Forming, Crytallographic Texture” has joined Department of Mechanical Engineering on 3rd June 2019. She has contributed 05 publications and attended 05 conferences.
Dr. Biranchi Sahoo has completed B.Tech. (Mechanical Engineering), Orissa School of Mining Engineering, Keonjhar), M. Tech. (Mechanical Engineering, National Institute of Technology, Rourkela). He has done Ph.D. (Mechanical Engineering, Indian Institute of Technology, Madras). with specialization in “Manufacturing Engineering, Metal Matrix Composite, Casting, Deformation Behaviour, Tribology ” has joined Department of Mechanical Engineering on 5th June 2019. He has contributed 07 publications and attended 02 conferences.
Mr. Vipindas K, has completed B.Tech., M.Tech.. He has submitted Ph.D. thesis with specialization in “Modelling and Experimental Investigation on Micro-End Milling of Ti-6Al-4V”. He has joined Department of Mechanical Engineering on 10th June 2019. He has published 04 International Journals , 01 is under review and presented and published at 11 international conferences.

Plantation during World Environment Day: 05th June 2019
5th June 2019 is celebrated as World Environment Day and on this occasion Department of
Mechanical Engineering, School of Technology, Pandit Deendayal Petroleum University (PDPU) jointly
with Indian Oil Corporation Limited (IOCL) took an initiative to plant trees within the campus of PDPU.
The saplings were received on 04th June 2019 from IOCL and Forest Department. A total of 25 saplings
were received to make PDPU campus more green and healthy.
The plantation was done near the Auditorium areas and the occasion was graced by Registrar sir and
Director SoT sir.
The members of School of Technology also planted saplings near E Block.
