DEPARTMENT OF PHYSICS
Prof. R.L.N. Sai Prasad,
Head, Dept. of Physics,
NIT Warangal.

Since its inception in 1959, the Department of Physics has kept pace with
developments in advanced areas in the discipline, the introduction of a three year M.Sc.
(Tech.) in Photonics and Electronics Technologies in Engineering Physics course with
specializations reflecting that mindset. Such courses aim to develop professionals who are
versatile and conversant with the needs of the industry. Admissions to the course are made
through an All India Entrance Test - Joint Admission Test for M.Sc. (JAM) . Apart from its
regular coursework, the course includes Industrial Training of eight weeks and six
months of Project Work/Dissertation in various reputed R&D Organizations and industries.
The Department strives to provide a balanced blend of both Science and Engineering
curriculum and hands-on training for students. The course curriculum is upgraded regularly in
keeping with the ever changing needs and demands of the industry.
ELECTRONICS SPECIALIZATION
M.Sc. (Tech.) in Electronics strives to provide
cutting edge knowledge and exposure to modern
technological innovations and requirements of the
industries with special emphasis on Electronics and
Communication.
The Department has dedicated and experienced
faculty members providing high quality education,
which is on a par with industrial requirements.
PHOTONICS SPECIALIZATION
Recent advances in Photonics in the fields of
communication, imaging, health care and Medicine,
Defence, Optics and Electronics have all contributed to
spectacular new applications in every sphere of our
lives. This course helps in the creation of professionals to
cater for the needs of various R&D Organizations,
Defence labs and Industries. Photonics lab has
sophisticated equipment to address student needs.
