DEPARTMENT OFSOCIAL WORK

LIST OF SUPERVISORS

Research is a crucial component of social work education. Excellent social work education and social work professional practice must be informed by rigorous research endeavors. Therefore, contemporary social work theories have to be critically inspected, indigenized, and translated into eective practice for coping with emerging social conditions and social problems locally and globally. Against this background, the academics of the Department have been actively engaged in various research studies pursued along three major research streams: Mental Health and Wellbeing, Social Policy and Community Development, and Youth Studies.

Mental Health and Wellbeing research resonates with the challenges of mental health issues for various populations, investigates cutting-edge intervention strategies, and promotes mental health on micro, meso, and macro scales. The stream of Social Policy has been critically examining and reexamining various social policies to address pertinent social issues; whilst Community Development advocates vibrant advancement of the society by promoting community participation in the changing global and local contexts. The research areas of Youth Studies are multifaceted that cover youth work, youth development and empowerment, as well as youth policy.

As social scientists, the Department of Social Work embraces a wide spectrum of research areas and research methodologies. As such, we welcome all who have creative ideas, a strong aspiration to immerse in scholarly research, and contribute to the society, to join us.
