Department of Surgery
The honorary doctors play the key role in management of the admitted patients. Beds are distributed among the doctors and they give regular follow-ups and take the responsibility of the management of the respective patients. They are also concerned about all the admitted patients in the unit.
They attend the routine and emergency operations. Here the honorary doctors get ample scope to perform surgeries and thus have good hands-on-training under proper supervision.

Honorary doctors attending OTs
It is a well equipped and very spacious. Left wing of the theatre belongs to the Department of Surgery which is also shared by the orthopaedics department.
In this wing there are 3 operating rooms. In 2 of them facilities for major operations under general anaesthesia are present. The third OT is usually reserved for minor day cases under local anaeshesia.
Operation Theatre
Well-equipped OT Room-1
Hence two major operations are performed simultaneously along with some minor cases. Therefore the number of operations performed daily by a unit is far greater than in other hospitals in Dhaka. For this reason the trainees here get good opportunity to develop surgical skills.
Operation Theatre
In the theatre the anaeshesia machines are very modern. The instruments here are of very high quality and well maintained. Laparoscopic surgeries are routinely performed. All the latest surgical appliances are used in the theatre including high frequency diathermy machine, halogen light and harmonic scalpel.
