My School in My Pocket IT IS EXCITING, IT IS MODERN, IT IS COMING!!!!!

I am pleased to announce that the school will be adopting yet another way to communicate to our community all the activities/events and learning experiences/opportunities in which your children are able to participate. We will be launching our own school app for all smart phones. On this will be our calendar of events, permission notes for you to download, photographs and the newsletter. All events scheduled will have a reminder sent to you two days before and on the day of events. We will be having a special launch of this new communication tool soon! You will be given a user number and password to access it and shown all of its capabilities. So stay tuned and watch this spot for the day, date and time of this wonderful addition to our school. Thank you to the P&C for purchasing this program app for us all to stay informed. We can now stay in touch wherever we are.

Where - The school library Time 2.15pm - 3.00pm

We will have a representative from the program to answer any questions you may have after our presentation. Please bring your smart phones with you. This app is suitable for apple and android users. On the day you will be given a username and a password to access the app. You will be shown how to tailor make the app so you can just receive information related to the grade/s your child/children are in, or you can just choose to have whole school information sent to you.

There are many advantages to this app.....its VERY exciting. Look for the flyer in your child’s bag!

Walk Safely to School day is an annual national event when all Primary School children are encouraged to walk and commute safely to school. It is a Community Event seeking to promote Road Safety, Health, Public Transport and the Environment. It was held throughout Australia on Friday 23rd May 2014.

ASTRONOMY NIGHT Saturday, 7 June (7pm – 9pm) WHAT YOU CAN DO WITH A RADIO DISH OR TWO Radio astronomy involves looking at light from the weakest part of the electromagnetic spectrum, which has such little energy that giant radio dishes are needed to collect it. We'll look at what you can do with a dish or two (or a few thousand), including historic discoveries, the space program, pulsars, radio dishes in space, future massive radio telescopes, and so on. The night will also include a 3D astronomy movie that will run for 15-20 minutes, a tour of the dome area and stargazing through various computerised telescopes. Our program will run regardless of the weather. Cost: $15 adult, $10 child/concession and $40 family. There will be a shopping trip to various warehouses on

Saturday 19 July 2014.

Tickets will be $30.00 each.

Bring or buy your lunch on the day.

Bus leaves from the school at 7.00am and returns at

approximately 6.00pm. (Mount Druitt Public School).

This is a child-free shopping day please do not buy

tickets for children under 16 years as they will not be allowed to board the bus.

If you would like to purchase tickets please write your name and all others you are paying for on

the reply slip and place in an envelope, enclose the money for each and return to the office by

27 June 2014 (the last school day of term 2).
