FROM THE OFFICE

Money Collecting 2019 As a result of audit requirements by the DoE, all money needs to be handed in at the Administration Office.

The procedure is as follows: All money sent to the school, is to be brought to the Administration Office and placed into the letterbox slot that is on the front wall near the counter. This will allow payments to be placed securely, even when the office is not open. Please do not leave money on the counter. We ask that the envelope be marked with your child’s name, class, and what the payment is for, to allow the payment to be processed. The office staff will administer all money and a receipt will be issued to the family, which will go to the student’s class teacher to send home. These changes will ensure better handling of all monies, and reduce disruption to teachers and students. We provide a variety of ways to make payments within the school, to make it easier for families and alleviate some students bringing large amounts of money to school. EFTPOS payments may be processed at the Administration Office, or over the phone for those families who choose to use this facility. The DoE preferred method for all money coming into the school is the Payment On-Line facility (POP), through the school’s website. This procedure allows payments to be made 24 hours a day and provides an immediate receipt to your email. Families will need to go to the school’s website: [email protected]. On the home page toolbar Make a Payment, follow the prompts to make your payment. Further instructions can be found via a link on our website: Parent/Carer Instructions for Parent Online Payments. If a POP payment is made before 6pm, your payment will be processed on the next day’s school statement. If it is made after 6pm, the school will be notified two days later. Please ensure that, on your child’s permission note, you fill in the section for POP which will require the receipt number. At the bottom of every note that requires payment, there will be a section for cash, cheque, and Payment On Line, for your convenience. If you have any concerns please don’t hesitate to contact the Administration Office on 4340 1885.

WOOLWORTHS EARN AND LEARN

Woolworths “Earn and Learn’ is back again.

It's simple to participate. Until Tuesday 25th June 2019, people who shop at

Woolworths can collect Woolworths Earn & Learn Stickers from the checkout

operator. There will be one Woolworths Earn & Learn Sticker for every $10 spent.

Stickers can be placed in the green Woolworths box, located in the school office

foyer or in the Woolworths collection box, at the front of the checkouts at the

Gosford Woolworth’s store. Once collected and redeemed, these stickers earn

points, which are used to purchase valuable educational resources for our school.

Need to Update your Details? It is very important that the school has current contact details for your child. If there are any changes to your contact details, phone number, address, emergency contacts or medical information, it is extremely important that we are advised so we can update their details.

If there are changes, please come into the office to fill out our Student Record Update Form, or give us a call and we will send a form home for you.

This should then be returned to the Administration Office, so that we can ensure our information is current and we can therefore contact you in case of an emergency.

Please note: we are unable to release your child to another adult, unless they are provided as an emergency contact on the student’s details.

Thank you for your support in this important matter.

OFFICE HOURS Just a reminder that our office hours are 8.30am until 3.15pm.

UNIFORM SHOP The Uniform Shop is now operating between the hours of 8:15am and 9:00am on Tuesday and Wednesday mornings. The Uniform Shop no longer operates on Monday afternoons. If you are unable to attend the Uniform Shop on Tuesday or Wednesday mornings, you may still order through the school office and make payment by cash, EFTPOS or Parent Online Payment (POP) through the school Website. From Term 3 2019, there will be a position for a uniform coordinator at Kariong Public School. If you are interested in this position, please send your CV to Leanne Bailey [email protected] or telephone Leanne on 0413 737 478.

Debating – Round 1 On Wednesday 22 May, eight students from Stage 3 were sent to Gosford PS to debate. We were separated into two groups: a Year 5 team and a Year 6 team. The Year 5’s were given the topic of ‘Homework Should be Banned in Schools’. We were the affirmative team. Unfortunately, being that it was a difficult battle, we didn’t win. The Year 6 team was given the topic ‘Every Classroom Should Have a Dog or a Cat as a Pet’. Once again, they were the affirmative team and were defeated – but only just! Everyone had a special time, learned so much and are really excited for our next challenge. Written by Tamsen E (Year 5 debating team) Congratulations to our two debating teams who represented our school with pride and confidence during Round 1 of the Premier’s Debating Challenge. Thank you again to those parents who assisted with transporting students to and from the venue. Mrs Buckton & Miss Farrugia - Coordinators
