DESCRIPTION
This workshop aims to demonstrate what has been a successful model for teacher leadership of the Digital Education Revolution in secondary schools. Through informal discussion and demonstration of specific software and Web 2.0 applications, participants will be introduced to a variety of strategies that have been used to overcome barriers to success that confront teachers. The aim of this presentation is to facilitate discussion and provide participants with a toolbox of strategies to bring about a 21st Century shift in pedagogy, learning styles and learning environments. Both presenters are leaders of DER within their schools and have collaborated on a number of inter-school projects promoting the innovative integration of technology into the 21st century classroom.TRANSCRIPT

were drilling things. Then she said: "Is this up on Edmodo?" "Oh," I replied. "That's a good idea. Do you want me to put it there?" "She said: "I hate it
when teachers don't put it on Edmodo, so we can access it to revise. In
English they always put things up there for us...." You are revolutionising us. Just think where we were this time
last year.......

The best thing about edmodo I found is for the seniors helping each other and being able to support them and them support each other particularly when assessments are due.
It is a great way to engage all the
learning styles and introverts into your lesson. Also a great
way to extend students with
stimulating extra stuff to support or extend their class
work. I love it and it is so fast- no
photocopying!

The positives of having a Netbook for school are: you don’t need to carry any books, all my work can be filed in folders, I can’t lose any worksheets as long as I save them and instant information on the internet.

‘Constructivism, in a nutshell, says that if you create the right learning environment then
students will build (or construct) knowledge and learning for themselves. Constructivism takes the focus off “teaching” and places it on “learning”. It sometimes means teachers have to take their hands off the controls, let go a little, and realise
that the best kind of learning happens when students work things out for themselves and not
always when they get “taught”.

What about eGATs?Extension and assessment activities can include ICT based activities including:

English Faculty ICT Statement
The English faculty of Lisarow High School values the role of ICT as another tool of learning and teaching.
These statements live within the framework of Stage Four and Five English. From 2010, year 9 and 10
students will have access to DER laptops, however, these statements also highlight the need to
prepare teachers and students of years 7 and 8, as years 9, 10, 11, 12 will all have DER laptops
by 2012.
We embrace the ability of ICT as a means of enhancing student communication and the composition of original pieces of creative and factual writing. Within every unit
of work, students and teachers can enhance their learning by employing various means of delivery.
