Welcome to the latest edition of the Derbyshire Scout Activity Directory. Following the success of previous booklets, we have produced an updated electronic version containing all of the latest information for Activity contacts and events in Derbyshire.

As Derbyshire Scouting continues to grow and thrive, we are excited to see our Active Support Units doing the same. Over the past few years we have seen several new Activity Support Units to add to our existing portfolio of Teams.

We hope that this information will inspire you to make use of the wealth of activities and support on your doorstep as we prepare young people with skills for life.

Activity Permits

Duke of Edinburgh Award

Everyone who leads a nights away event for young people within Scouting is required to hold a Nights Away Permit for the type of event they are running. There are 4 types of Nights Away Permit with each type issued based on an individual’s skills and experience:

• Indoor • Campsite • Greenfield • Lightweight Expedition

The Nights Away Permit Scheme shows that all those leading nights away events for young people within Scouting have the skills, experience and personal suitability to take young people away safely. It is designed so that it can be tailored to be as flexible as possible, while at the same time providing a robust checking process for leaders of nights away events. The permit should be seen as an enabling device to show a persons competence and provide reassurance to parents of the young people, while at the same time encouraging adults to acquire and improve the skills required to provide residential experiences. For further advice please contact our County Supporter of Nights Away Permit Scheme (NAPS) is Mark Rushworth who can be contacted via [email protected]
