brozadora hasta que haya leido y comprendido completamente todas las instrucciones y reglas de seguridad contenidas en este manual, el no cumplir con todas estas indicaciones podrían provocar accidentes o serios daños personales.Guarde el manual de operacion y mantengalo a la mano para cuando lo necesite o necesite instruir a alguien más del como utilizar la he-rramienta.

PRECAUCIONES DE OPERACIÓN• Para una operación segura, lea y entienda todas las instrucciones antes de usar este pro-ducto. • Los gases emanados del escape contienen monóxido de carbono, un gas tóxico sin olor o color. La inhalación de monóxido de carbo-no puede causar lesiones cerebrales serias o la muerte. Nunca arranque ni accione el motor en un área cerrada o con poca ventilación.• Limpie el área de trabajo cada vez antes de usar la unidad. Retire todos los objetos tales como piedras, vidrios rotos, clavos, alambre o cuerdas que pudiesen resultar lanzados o en-redados en el hilo de corte o cuchilla, según sea el caso.• Para utlizar este producto utilice anteojos de seguridad o gafas protectoras marcados con el sello de cumplimiento de las normas de segu-ridad locales.• Use equipo de seguridad como pantalones largos de tela gruesa, botas y guantes. No use ropa holgada o pantalones cortos o ande des-calzo. No se utilice joyas de ninguna clase.• Mantenga alejadas a todas las personas, niños y animales a una distancia mínima de 15 metros (50 pies).• No use esta unidad cuando se encuentre fa-tigado, enfermo o bajo los efectos del alcohol, drogas o medicamentos.• No utilice la unidad en condiciones deficien-tes de iluminación.• Mantenga una postura firme y bien equili-brada. No trate de alcanzar objetos fuera de su alcance. Al tratar de hacerlo puede perder el equilibrio o exponerse al contacto con super-ficies calientes.• Mantenga todas las partes del cuerpo aleja-das de toda pieza en movimiento.

• Para evitar tocar superficies calientes, al utili-zar esta unidad nunca coloque la parte inferior de la misma arriba del nivel de la cintura.• No toque las áreas alrededor del silenciador o del cilindro de la unidad, estas partes se calien-tan durante el funcionamiento.• Siempre apague el motor y retire el tapón de la bujía antes de realizar cualquier ajuste o re-paraciones, excepto para los ajustes del carbu-rador.• Inspeccione cada vez la unidad antes de usar-la para ver si tiene tornillos flojos, fugas de combustible, etc. Reemplace toda pieza daña-da antes de utilizar la unidad.• El cabezal del hilo, gira durante los ajustes del carburador.

TOME EN CUENTA LO SIGUIENTE: Algunos informes médicos indican que, en algunas per-sonas, las vibraciones de las herramientas ma-nuales pueden contribuir a una afección mé-dica llamada síndrome de Raynaud. Entre los posibles síntomas está el hormigueo, el entu-mecimiento y la palidez de los dedos, sínto-mas presentes normalmente con la exposición al frío. Se cree que los factores hereditarios, la exposición al frío y a la humedad, la dieta, el fumar y las prácticas de trabajo contribuyen al desarrollo de estos síntomas. Actualmente se desconoce qué tipo de vibraciones o cuánto tiempo de exposición a las mismas, si tal es el caso, pueden contribuir a la mencionada afec-ción. Hay medidas de precaución que puede tomar el operador para reducir posiblemente los efectos de la vibración:a) Mantenga caliente el cuerpo en tiempo frío. Al utilizar la unidad use guantes para mante-ner calientes las manos y las muñecas. Los in-formes médicos indican que el clima frío es un factor importante que contribuye al síndrome de Raynaud.b) Después de cada período de operación de la unidad, haga ejercicio para aumentar la circu-lación de la sangre.c) Tome descansos frecuentes durante el traba-jo. Limite la cantidad de exposición al día.d) Mantenga la herramienta bien cuidada, con los elementos de sujeción debidamente apre-tados y siempre cambiando las piezas desgas-tadas. Si sufre alguno de los síntomas de esta afección médica, inmediatamente suspenda el

uso de la herramienta y consulte a su médico con respecto a estos síntomas.

PRECAUCIONES DE REABASTECIMIENTO Y MA-NEJO DE COMBUSTIBLE• La gasolina es altamente inflamable y puede ser explosiva bajo ciertas circunstancias, crean-do condiciones potenciales que produzcan quemaduras graves. Cuando vaya a reabaste-cer de combustible, realice mantenimiento, drenar la gasolina y/o cuando vaya a ajustar el carburador: Detenga el motor y permita que se enfríe antes de abastecer. NO fume cerca del área de reabastecimiento.• Asegúrese de que el área esté bien ventilada y no haya presencia de llamas o chispas, y que no haya ningún piloto encendido de ningún tipo de aparato.• NO sobrellene el depósito de combustible de manera que esté por encima del indicador de nivel máximo. Si sobrellena el depósito, el calor puede producir que el combustible se expanda y que se derrame a través de las ventilas que hay en el tapón del depósito de combustible. Limpie inmediatamente la gasolina derrama-da.• Los motores pueden calentarse extremada-mente durante su operación normal.Para evitar el peligro del incendio: Coloque el motor a una distancia mínima de 1 m (3 ,3 pies) de edificios, obstrucciones y otros objetos in-flamables.NO coloque objetos inflamables cerca del motor.NO exponga materiales inflamables cerca del escape del motor.• Para evitar choques eléctricos, NO toque las bujías, los tapones o los cables de las bujías du-rante la operación.• Para evitar quemaduras, NO toque el motor ni el escape que haya sido calentado. El motor se sobrecalienta durante su funcionamiento.

REGLAS DE SEGURIDAD ESPECÍFICAS PARA EL USO DE LA DESBROZADORA• Cambie el cabezal del hilo si está agrietado, desportillado o dañado de cualquier forma. Asegúrese de que el cabezal del hilo o cuchi-lla, según sea el caso, esté debidamente insta-lado y firmemente asegurado. El ignorar estas

advertencias pueden causar lesiones corpora-les serias.• Asegúrese de que todas las protecciones, co-rreas, manerales y guardas estén instalados de-bidamente y de manera segura.• En el cabezal de corte use únicamente hilo de repuesto recomendado por el distribuidor. No utilice accesorios de corte que no hayan sido recomendados por el distribuidor o fabricante.NOTA: La instalación de hilo de corte inade-cuado puede producir lesiones corporales se-rias.• Nunca utilice la unidad si la guarda deflecto-ra no está montada y en buenas condiciones de funcionamiento.• Al usar la desbrozadora , sujétela firmemen-te por ambos lados del maneral. Mantenga el cabezal del hilo por debajo del nivel de la cin-tura. Nunca corte con el cabezal del hilo a más de 76 cm (30 pulg.) del suelo.

ARMADOMONTAJE DEL MANGO TIPO “BICICLETA“1. El soporte del mango es fijo. Colóque la barra del mango en una posición cómoda.2. Coloque el tornillo y la tuerca de mariposa.3. Apriete firmemente.

MONTAJE DE LA GUARDA1. Monte el deflector de pasto en la parte inferior del eje, como se muestra.2. Introduzca los 4 torni-llos de cabeza hexagonal a través del deflector de pasto y del soporte del eje.

ARNÉS DE SEGURIDAD 1. Enganche el broche del arnés en el asa para la misma.2. Ajuste el arnés para dejarlo en una posición cómoda de trabajo.

INSTALANDO LA CUCHILLA DE CORTEInstale el soporte superior, la cuchilla de tres aspas, el soporte inferior y arande-la dentada en este orden, luego ajuste con el bulón. Alinee el eje del cabezal con el agujero del soporte superior e inserte la llave y luego posicione la tuerca final y ajuste. Asegúrese de que las par-tes están correctamente ajustadas e instaladas.

INSTRUCCIONES DE OPERACIÓNABASTECIMIENTO Y REABASTECIMIENTO DE COMBUSTIBLE

IMPORTANTE: La gasolina es altamente inflamable y puede ser explosiva bajo ciertas circunstancias. Cuando vaya a reabastecer de combustible, detenga el motor y permita que se enfríe. NO fume cerca del área de reabas-tecimiento.

Asegúrese de que el área esté bien ventilada y no haya presencia de llamas o chispas, y que no haya ningún piloto encendido de ningún tipo de aparato.ATENCIÓN: Si utiliza sólo gasolina hará que el motor se desviele. Use la mezcla apropiada de aceite y gasolina.

Los motores de 2 tiempos requieren una mez-cla de aceite y gasolina. La proporción de acei-te de motor y gasolina es de 50:1 (50 partes de gasolina por 1 parte de aceite para motores de 2 tiempos). Vierta aceite para motores de 2 tiem-pos y la gasolina en un contenedor apro-piado con las pro-porciones indicadas anteriormente, agi-telo bien para evitarque los componentes estén separados. Vierta la mezcla en el depósito de combustible.

IMPORTANTE: Mezcle únicamente la can-tidad de combustible necesaria para trabajar. Cada que vaya a reabastecer de combustible realice una mezcla nueva.El dejar una mezcla de combustible almacena-da por largos periodos de tiempo, provoca que el aceite se asiente. El usar este tipo de com-bustible puede dañar la máquina.

Tipo de combustible y octanajeUse gasolina limpia, nueva sin plomo con un contenido de etanol de no más del 10% y un octanaje igual o superior al indicado en la ta-bla de abajo.

ATENCIÓN: No use ningún combustible que contenga etanol u otros oxigenantes en canti-dad mayor a los especificados para el combus-tible* E10 en este motor. En caso de que utilice un combustible inadecuado, puede provocar que el motor y el sistema de combustible se de-teriore, o cause problemas en el arranque del motor y/o problemas del rendimiento.

ATENCIÓN: No use gasolina con plomo, ya que esto producirá averías en el convertidor catalí-tico (a excepción del DG953).

AJUSTE DEL CABLE DE ACELERACIÓNCuando vaya a ajustar algún componente de equipamiento en el motor (cortador de pasto, etc.), ajuste el cable del acelerador mediante el siguiente procedimiento.1. Retire el tapón del filtro de aire. Afloje la tuerca de fijación.2. Gire el tornillo de ajuste. Compruebe que el tornillo de marcha en vacío toque la placa reguladora en el pivote y de que la holgura del cable regulador sea aproximadamente de 2 mm.3. Apriete la palanca del regulador. Asegúrese que la placa reguladora toca el tope.4. Apriete la tuerca de fijación.

ENCENDIDO DEL MOTORCOMBUSTIBLEColoque el motor sobre una superficie nivela-da antes de añadir el combustible.• Abra la tapa del depósito del combustible y llene el depósito con una pre-mezcla de 50 par-tes de gasolina por 1 de aceite.• Vierta la mezcla lentamente para evitar que se derrame, y así permitir que el aire salga del depósito de combustible.• Cierre la tapa firmemente en dirección de las agujas del reloj.

IMPORTANTE: NO sobrellene el depósito de combustible de manera que esté por encima del indicador de nivel máximo. Si sobrellena el depósito, el calor puede producir que el com-bustible se expanda y que se derrame a través de las ventilas que hay en el tapón del depósito de combustible. Limpie inmediatamente la ga-solina derramada.

PUESTA EN MARCHA (Fig.1)• Gire el interruptor del mango en la posición “I” (puesta en marcha).• Presione el gatillo de aceleración a la posición de totalmente CERRADA (velocidad del motor en vacío).

• Presione el bombín cebador de 8 a 10 ve-ces o hasta que vea que el combustible pase por los tubos que alimentan al motor (Fig.2).NOTA: El motor ha sido diseñado de manera tal que el combustible que haya sido bombea-do mediante el bombín de cebado, regrese al depósito de combustible. No hay riesgo de que el motor se ahogue, así que puede oprimir la bomba de cebado las veces necesarias para arrancar el motor.

Ahogador tipo palanca de elevación (DG927, DG935 y DG945)Gire la palanca de elevación en dirección de las manecillas del reloj (Fig.3).NOTA: Si la palanca reguladora está apretada obloqueada en su posición media, el motor no se pondrá en funcionamiento. Compruebe que la palanca reguladora está en la posición de to-talmente cerrada.

Ahogador tipo palanca (DG953)• Mueva la palanca del ahogador a la posición “CLOSED“ de cerrado (Fig.4).• Presione el gatillo de aceleración para dejarlo en la posición media.

NOTA: Cuando el motor ya esté caliente, no es necesario manipular la palanca de elevación o la palanca del ahogador (Encendido en frío).

ArrancadorTire del arrancador rectráctil hasta que sienta un poco de tensión, luego tire del arrancador por com-pleto las veces que sean necesarias, hasta que encienda (Fig.5).

AVISO: Si libera la soga del arrancador brusca y repentinamente, puede que de un la-tigazo y cause lesiones o deteriore el mecanis-mo de arranque retráctil.Cuando arranque el motor, tome la empuña-dura del arrancador retráctil con firmeza; no lo sujete de la cuerda. Controle la cuerda cuando rebobina en el depósito de la soga.

Ahogador tipo palanca de elevación (DG927, DG935 y DG945) Fig.6Apriete el gatillo de aceleración para cambiar la palanca de elevación a la posición de “RUN-NING” (velocidad de motor vacío), suelte el acelerador a la posición de totalmente cerrada “CLOSED” (velocidad de motor en vacio).

Ahogador tipo palanca (DG953)• Después de poner en marcha el motor, mueva la palanca del ahogador poco a poco a la posición de abier-to “OPEN” (Fig.7). • Si el motor se pone en marcha brevemente e inmediatamente después se detiene, mueva la palanca del ahogador a la posición de abierto “OPEN”.• Intente jalar el arrancador hasta que el motor encienda.

CALENTAMIENTODespués de haber arrancado el motor, permita que funcione en vacío por varios minutos (pre-sionando el gatillo de aceleración en la posi-ción “CLOSED“ de cerrado).

IMPORTANTE: Deje que el motor se caliente lo suficiente para prevenir que se dañe el mo-tor y que funcione suavemente. El motor de-berá funcionar en vacío durante unos minutos para permitir que se caliente antes de empezar a operar. Esto permitirá que el aceite llegue a los compo-nentes del motor, y permitirá que la apertura del pistón se ajuste a las especificaciones de su diseño.

Velocidad en vacío• Si la cuchilla gira cuando el motor está en funcionamiento de velocidad en vacío, gire el tornillo de ajuste en dirección contraria a las agujas del reloj para reducir la velocidad de vacío del motor.• Si el motor no funciona en modo de velo-cidad de vacío, puede que se haya hecho de-masiado lento. En este caso gire la tuerca de ajuste en dirección a las agujas del reloj para incrementar la velocidad de motor vacío. La ve-locidad estable del motor en vacío es de 3000 rpm para DG927 y DG935, y 2800 rpm para DG945 y DG953.

Ajuste para el combustibleEl carburador ha sido ajustado desde la fábrica para que el suministro de combustible sea al óptimo. No intente reajustar el carburador.NOTA: Si fuera necesario ajustar el carburador lo deberá realizar su centro de servicio auto-rizado.

DETENIENDO EL MOTOR (Fig.10)• Mueva la palanca reguladora del mango a la posición de totalmente cerrada “CLOSED” y el motor en funcionamiento a velocidad de mo-tor en vacío.• Posicione el interruptor del motor a la posi-ción “O” (Parada).

IMPORTANTE: Nunca detenga el motor cuando esté funcionando a marcha completa, el motor se puede deteriorar prematuramente. Reduzca la velocidad del motor por 1 minuto a velocidad mínima de vacío antes de apagar.

CATALIZADOR (a excepción de la DG953)El sistema de escape de este pequeño motor está provisto de un catalizador a fin de redu-cir en gran medida las emisiones del escape. El catalizador convierte el monóxido de carbono y los hidrocarburos en dióxido de carbono y agua que no resultan tóxicos.

El catalizador requiere un cuidado especial: • Utilice únicamente gasolina sin plomo. No utilice nunca gasolina con plomo. La gasolina con plomo reduce de forma importante la ca-pacidad del catalizador.• No utilice aceite para motores de 2 tiempos que contenga fósforo (P), plomo (Pb) o azufre (S). Estos elementos reducirán la durabilidad y el rendimiento del catalizador.• Antes de detener el motor, déjelo un momen-to en ralentí.

IMPORTANTE: Nunca pare el motor cerran-do la palanca del cebador.• Nunca detenga el motor cuando esté funcio-nando a una velocidad superior al ralentí.· Detenga el motor y deje que se enfríe antes de transportar o guardar la desbrozadora.· Si el motor esta caliente, no coloque la má-quina sobre hierba seca o cerca de objetos in-flamables.

MANEJO DE LA DESBROZADORA ADVERTENCIA: Siempre coloque la unidad

a su lado derecho. Si utiliza la unidad colocán-

dola en el lado izquierdo del cuerpo, el usuario se expondrá a las superficies calientes y la sa-lida del escape, lo cual puede causar lesiones por quemaduras. Sujete la desbrozadora con la mano derecha en donde se encuentra en interruptor y coloque la mano izquierda en el otro extremo del maneral. Sujete firmemente la unidad con ambas manos durante la operación. Se recomienda sujetar la desbrozadora en una posición cómoda, con el mango trasero a la altura de la ca-dera. Siempre utilice la desbrozadora a la máxima aceleración. Corte la hierba alta desde la parte supe-rior hacia abajo. Esto evitará que la hierba se enrolle alrededor del alojamiento del eje y del cabezal del hilo que pudiese causar daño por calentamiento excesivo. Si la hierba se enrolla alrededor del cabezal del hilo, APAGUE EL MOTOR, desconecte el cable de la bujía y desprenda la hierba. El recorte prolongado con el acelerador par-cialmente abierto produce goteo de aceite en el silenciador.

PARA AVANZAR EL HILO DE CORTEEl avance del hilo se controla golpeando levemente el cabezal del hilo contra el pas-to mientras el motor funciona a la máxima aceleración.1. Haga funcionar el motor a la máxima ace-leración.2. Golpee el retén del carrete sobre el suelo para hacer avanzar el hilo. El hilo avanza cada vez que golpea el retén del carrete. No man-tenga el retén del carrete presionado sobre el suelo.NOTA: La cuchilla para cortar el hilo que se encuentra montada en el deflector de pasto, corta el hilo a la longitud correcta.NOTA: Si el hilo se gasta hasta quedar muy cor-to quizá no pueda avanzar el hilo tras golpear el cabezal contra el suelo. Si así fuera, apague el motor y avance manualmente el hilo.

RECOMENDACIONES DURANTE EL USO DE LA DESBROZADORA• Mantenga la desbrozadora inclinada hacia el área de corte; ésta es la mejor área de corte.• La desbrozadora corta cuando se pasa la uni-dad de derecha a izquierda. De esta manera se evita el lanzamiento de desechos hacia el ope-rador. Evite cortar en el área peligrosa la cual es la que se encuentra mas cerca de la guarda protectora.• Use la punta del hilo para efectuar el recorte; no fuerce el cabezal del hilo hacia la hierba sin cortar.• Las cercas de alambre y de estacas causan des-gaste adicional en el hilo, incluso la ruptura del mismo asi como los muros de piedra y de la-drillo, los cordones y la madera pueden gastar rápidamente el hilo.• Evite tocar árboles y arbustos. La corteza de los árboles, las molduras de madera, los reves-timientos de las paredes y los postes de las cercas pueden resultar dañados fácilmente por el hilo.

CUCHILLA DE CORTE DEL HILO DE LA GUARDAEsta desbrozadora está equipada con una cu-chilla de corte del hilo instalada en la guarda protectora. Para mejores resultados en el re-corte, avance el hilo hasta que la cuchilla lo corte a la longitud apropiada. NOTA: Avance el hilo siempre que escuche que el motor está funcionando más rápido de lo normal, o cuando disminuya la eficiencia del corte. Esto mantendrá un mejor desempeño y mantendrá el hilo a la suficiente longitud para avanzar apropiadamente.

MANTENIMIENTO IMPORTANTE: ANTES DE USAR LA MÁQUI-

NA, REALIZAR MANTENIMIENTO O CAMBIO DE ACCESORIO, LEA LA “TABLA DE MANTENI-MIENTO PERIÓDICO” EN LA PÁGINA 21.

ADVERTENCIA: Use únicamente piezas de repuesto, accesorios y aditamentos genui-nos del fabricante. El obviar esta advertencia puede causar posibles lesiones, un desempeño deficiente de la unidad y la anulación de la ga-rantía.

REEMPLAZO DEL CARRETE1. Gire la perilla retén en sentido contrario de las manecillas del reloj y retírela.2. Retire el carrete vacío del cabezal del hilo. Mantenga el resorte acoplado al carrete.3. Quite el nylon sobrante del soporte.4. Enganche uno de los extremos del nylon en el cabezal y enro-llelo, asegúrese de que coloque los dos hilos en las ranuras opuestas entre sí en el nuevo carrete. Asegúrese de que los extremos de cada hilo so-bresalgan aproximadamente 6 pulg. (152 mm) de cada ranura.5. Pase los hilos por los ojillos en el cabezal del hilo. Empuje cuidadosamente el carrete en el cabezal del hilo (tire levemente de los hilos ha-cia afuera si es necesario). Al colocar el carrete en el cabezal del hilo, sujete los hilos y tire de ellos con fuerza para desengancharlos de las ranuras en el carrete.6. Presione y gire a la izquierda el carrete hasta que tope. Sujete el carrete y gírelo levemente a la derecha. Suelte el carrete. El carrete debe es-tar asegurado en el cabezal del hilo. De lo con-trario, sujételo y gírelo hasta que enganche.7. Asegúrese de que el cabezal del hilo y el retén del carrete estén instalados en el eje de impulsión.8. Vuelva a tirar de los hilos para girar el carre-te a la posición de corte. Presione el retén del carrete a la vez que tira del hilo o hilos, para avanzar que avance manualmente y así verifi-car el ensamblaje correcto del cabezal de hilo.

MANTENIMIENTO DEL TAPÓN DEL DEPÓSITO DE COMBUSTIBLE (Fig.11)El tapón del depósito de combustible tiene incorporado una ventila de respiración. Si se obstruye el respirador, el combustible no po-drá fluir al carburador, siendo esto causa de problemas en el arranque o al hacer funcionar el motor. Al mismo tiempo, asegúrese de que la base del respirador/ventila se coloca firme-mente en la ranura que hay en el interior del tapón como se puede muestra en la ilustración.

MANTENIMIENTO DEL FILTRO DE AIRELimpie el filtro de aire cada 20 horas de uso.• Retire el tapón de la caja del filtro de aire. • Retire la esponja de la caja del filtro. • Lavelo con agua y detergente, séquelo cui-dadosamente.• Vuelva a colocar el filtro/esponja en la caja de filtro de aire y coloque la tapa. Apriete con el tornillo (Fig.12).NOTA: Una limpieza del filtro inapropiada puede causar daños en el motor. No utilice aire comprimido para limpiar o secar el filtro. Limpie siempre el filtro con un solvente cuyo punto de inflamabilidad sea alto. Nunca utilice gasolina. No haga funcionar nunca el motor sin el filtro.

SERVICIO DEL FILTRO DE COMBUSTIBLELimpie el filtro del tanque cada 20 horas.• Extraiga el filtro de combustible fuera del depósito.• Limpie el filtro de combustible en solvente adecuado (Fig.13).• Seque el filtro y vuelva a colocarlo en el depó-sito de combustible.

IMPORTANTE: Muchos solventes son alta-mente inflamables y pueden provocar serias quemaduras. Un uso inapropiado de solventes

FOR YOUR INFORMATION: It has been re-ported that vibrations from hand-held tools may contribute to a condition called Raynaud’s Syndrome in certain individuals. Symptoms may include tingling, numbness and blanch-ing of the fingers, usually apparent upon ex-posure to cold. Hereditary factors, exposure to cold and dampness, diet, smoking and work practices are all thought to contribute to the development of these symptoms. It is presently unknown what, if any, vibrations or extent of exposure may contribute to the condition. There are measures that can be taken by the operator to possibly reduce the effects of vi-bration:a) Keep your body warm in cold weather. When operating the unit wear gloves to keep the hands and wrists warm. It is reported that cold weather is a major factor contributing to Raynaud’s Syndrome.b) After each period of operation, exercise to increase blood circulation.c) Take frequent work breaks. Limit the amount of exposure per day.d) Keep the tool well maintained, fasteners tightened and worn parts replaced.If you experience any of the symptoms of this condition, immediately discontinue use and see your physician about these symptoms.

CAUTIONS FOR FUEL AND REFUEL HANDLING• Gasoline is extremely flammable and can be explosive under certain conditions, creating the potential for serious burns. When refuel-ing, servicing fuel system, draining gasoline and/or adjusting the carburetor:Stop engine and allow it to cool before refuel-ing. DO NOT smoke.• Make sure the area is well-ventilated and free from any source of flame or sparks, includ-ing the pilot light of any appliance.• DO NOT fill the tank so the fuel level rises into the filler neck or level surface of level gauge. If the tank is overfilled, heat may cause the fuel to expand and overflow through the vents in the tank cap. Wipe off any spilled gas-oline immediately.

INSTALLING THE CUTTING BLADEInstall the top bracket, three-bladed knife, the bottom bracket and toothed washer in this or-der, then tighten the bolt. Align the spindle axis with the hole in the top brack-et and insert the key and then the final position and tighten nut. Make sure the parts are properly adjusted and in-stalled.

OPERATION INSTRUCTIONSFUEL AND REFUELING

IMPORTANT: Gasoline is extremely flamma-ble and can be explosive under certain condi-tions, c reating the potential for serious burns.Turn the ignition switch to “OFF”. Do not smoke. Make sure the area is well-ventilated and f ree from any source of flame or sparks; this inc ludes any appliance with a pilot light.ATTENTION: Running on gasoline only will cause the engine to seize. Use gasoline-oil mix-ture.2-stroke Engines requires a gasoline-oil mix-ture. Gasoline and engine oil mixing ratio is 50:1 (Gasoline; 50, 2-stroke engine Oil; 1).Pour the 2-stroke en-gine oil and the gaso-line into an appropri-ate container with the ratio shown above, and shake it thor-oughly to avoid the separation of them. And then, pour it into the fuel tank.

IMPORTANT: Mix only the amount needed to work. Prepare a new mix every time you need to refuel the fuel tank. Leaving the mix-ture stored for long periods of time causes the oil to seize, this can cause serious damage to the components or the engine.

Fuel type and octane ratingUse clean, fresh unleaded gasoline with etha-nol volume content not more than 10% and an octane rating equal to or higher than that shown in the table.

ATTENTION: Do not use any fuel that contains more ethanol or other oxygenates than speci-fied for E10 fuel* in this engine. Damage to the engine and fuel system, or engine starting and/or performance problems may result from the use of improper fuel.* E10 means fuel containing up to 10% etha-nol as specified by European directive.

ATTENTION: Do not use leaded gasoline, as this will destroy the catalytic converter (except DG953).

ADJUSTMENT OF THROTTLE CABLEWhen setting the en-gine to equipments (bush cutter, etc.), ad-just the throttle cable in the following pro-cedures.1. Remove the air cleaner cap. Loose the lock nut.2. Turn the adjusting screw. Be sure that the idle screw touches throttle plate at the swivel and the play of the throttle cable is around 2mm.3. Squeeze the throttle lever. Be sure that throttle plate touches the stopper. 4. Tighten the lock nut

overfilled, heat may cause the fuel to expand and overflow through the vents in the tank cap. After refueling, make sure the fuel tank cap is closed securely. If gasoline is spilled on the fuel tank, wipe it off immediately.

STARTING (Fig.1)• Turn the engine switch on the engine or the equipment to the ‘T (sta rting) position.• Move the throttle lever on the equipment to the fully CLOSED (engine idle speed) position.

• Slowly push the priming pump several times until the fuel comes out of the over-flow tube (Fig.2).

NOTE: This engine is designed so that over-flowed fuel due to pushing a priming pump is to be returned to the fuel tank. There is no fear of flooding the engine, so push the priming pump enough times to get the engine started.

Lift up lever type (DG927, DG935 & DG945)Turn the lift up lever clockwise to switch to the “STARTING” position (Fig.3).NOTE: If the throttle lever is squeezed or locked at half position, the engine won’t start. Be sure the throttle lever is in the fully CLOSED position.

Choke lever type (DG953)• Move the choke lever to the “CLOSED” posi-tion (Fig.4).• Move the throttle lever to the half position.NOTE: When the engine is already warm up, no lift up lever or choke lever required.

StarterPull the recoil starter grip slowly to engage the starter, then give a short, quick pull

NOTICE: Releasing the starting rope sud-denly may allow the rope to whip around and cause injury and/or damage the recoil starting mechanism. When starting the engine, firmly grasp the recoil starter grip; do not grasp the starter rope itself. Always control the rope as it rewinds into the housing.

Lift up lever type (DG927, DG935 & DG945)Once squeeze the throttle lever to switch the lift up lever to the “RUNNING” (engine idle speed) position, and then release the throt-tle lever back to fu lly “CLOSED’ (engine idle speed) position (Fig.6).

Choke lever type (DG953)• After starting, move the choke lever to the “OPEN” posit ion gradually.• If the engine fires only briefly and stops, move the choke lever to the “OPEN” position (Fig.7).• Repeat the recoil start until the engine start.

WARMING UPAfter starting the engine, run the engine at the idling speed (throttle lever position is fully CLOSED) for a few minutes.

IMPORTANT: Allow sufficient warm-up time to prevent engine damage and run the engine smoothly. The engine should be run at idle speed for a few minutes to allow it to warm up before applying a load. This will allow oil to reach engine parts, and allow piston clearance to reach design specifi-cations.

Idling Speed• If the cutting blade move when the engine is running at the idle speed, turn the idle screw counterclockwise to decrease the engine idle speed.• If the engine does not run the idle speed, it may be changed too low, turn the idle screw clockwise to increase the engine idle speed.The stable idle speed for DG927 & DG935 it’s 3000 rpm. For DG945 & DG953 it’s 2800 rpm.

Fuel adjustmentThe carburetor has been adjusted to the opti-mum fuel supply at the factory. Don’t reset the carburetor setting.NOTE: If adjustment is needed, it should be performed by your authorized service center.

STOPPING (Fig.10)• Move the throttle lever on the equipment to the fully CLOSED (engine idle speed) position, and the engine running at idle speed.• Turn the engine switch to the “0” (stopping)position.

IMPORTANT: Suddenly stopping engine from highspeed operation can causeengine-damage. Reduce engine speed to idle speed for one minute before shutting engine off af-ter high-speed, full-load operation.

CATALYTIC CONVERTER (except DG953)This small engine is equipped with a catalytic converter in the exhaust system to signifi-cantly reduce exhaust emissions. The catalytic converter converts carbon monoxide and hy-drocarbons into harmless carbon dioxide and water.

The catalytic converter requires special care.• Use only unleaded gasoline. Never use leaded gasoline. Leaded gasoline significantly reduces the capability of the catalytic converter.• Do not use 2-stroke oil that contains Phos-phorus (P), Lead (Pb), or Sulfur (S). These ele-ments wil l reduce the life and performance ofthe catalytic converter. • Before shutting the engine off, allow it to idle for a short while.

IMPORTANT: Never stop the engine by clos-ing the choke lever.• Never stop the engine during operation while running above idle speed.· Shut off the engine and allow it to cool be-fore transporting or storing the unit.· Do not put the unit on dry grass or near any flammable object unless the engine is cold or cooled down.

OPERATING THE TRIMMER WARNING: Always place the motor head to

your right side. If you place the trimmer motor on your left side, you will be exposed to the motor heat and muffler outlet, this can cause posible serious injury.Hold the trimmer with the right hand on the rear handle and the left hand on the front “D“ handle. Keep a firm grip with both hands while in operation. Trimmer should be held at a com-fortable position with the rear handle about hip height.Always operate trim-mer at full throttle. Cut tall grass from the top down. This will prevent grass from wrapping around the driveshaft housing and string head which may cause damage from over-heating.

If grass becomes wrapped around the string head, stop the engine, disconnect the spark plug wire, and remove the grass. Prolonged cutting at partial throttle will result in oil drip-ping from the muffler.

ADVANCING THE STRINGString advance is con-trolled by tapping string head on grass while running engine at full throttle.1. Run engine at full throttle.2. Tap string head on ground to advance string. String advances each time the head is tapped.NOTE: Several taps may be required until string strikes the cut off blade.NOTE: If the string is worn too short you may not be able to advance the string by tapping it on the ground. If so, STOP THE ENGINE, and manually advance the string.

CUTTING TIPS• Keep the trimmer tilted toward the area be-ing cut; this is the best cutting area.• Do not cut in dangerous cutting area.• Use the tip of string to do the cutting; do not force string head into uncut grass.• Wire and picket fences cause extra string wear, even breakage. Stone and brick walls, curbs, and wood may wear string rapidly.• Avoid trees and shrubs. Tree bark, wood moldings, siding, and fence posts can easily be damaged by the string.

GRASS DEFLECTOR LINE TRIMMING CUT-OFF BLADEThis trimmer is equipped with a line trimming cut-off blade on the grass deflector. For best cutting, advance string until it is trimmed to length by the cut-off blade. NOTE: Advance string whenever you hear the engine running faster than normal.This will maintain best performance and keep string long enough to advance properly.

MAINTENANCE WARNING: Use only original manufacturer’s

replacement parts, accessories and attach-ments. Failure to do so can cause possible injury, poor performance and may void your warranty.

REPLACING THE NYLON THREAD1. Hold the string head and unscrew the spool retainer. Turn counterclock-wise.2. Remove the empty spool from the string head. Keep the spring attached to the spool.3. Remove the last of nylon threads.4. Cut and hook the nylon inside the spool, make sure the two strings are captured in the slots opposite each other on the spool. Make sure the ends of each string is extended ap-proximately 152 mm (6 in.) beyond each slot.5. Thread the strings into the eyelets in the string head. Carefully push the spool into the string head (gen-tly pull the strings to the outside if neces-sary). When the spool is positioned in the string head, grasp the strings and pull sharply to re-lease them from the slots in the spool.6. Push down and turn the spool counterclock-wise until it no longer turns. Hold the spool down and rotate clockwise a small amount. Release the spool. The spool should be locked down in the string head. If not, hold down and rotate until locked.7. Make sure the string head and the spool re-tainer are installed on the drive shaft by turn-ing the retainer clockwise to tighten.8. Pull the strings again to rotate the spool into cutting position. Push the spool retainer down while pulling on string(s) to manually advance the string and to check for proper assembly of the string head.

FUEL TANK CAP SERVICE (Fig.11)A breather passage is incorporated in the tank cap. If the breather passage is clogged, the fuel

will not flow into the carburetor, causing prob-lems with starting or nunning the engine.At the same time, make sure that the base of the breather assembly is fitted firmly into the groove inside the tank cap as shown below.

AIR CLEANER SERVICEClean the air cleaner element every 20 hours.• Remove the air cleaner cap from the air cleaner case by removing the air cleaner cap screw.• Remove the element from the air cleaner case.• Wash the element in detergent and water, and dry it thoroughly.• Reinstall the element in the air cleaner case and reinstall the air cleaner, and tighten the screw (Fig.12).NOTE: Improper element cleaning can result inengine damage. Do not use compressed air to clean or dry element. Always clean element with an approved high flash point solvent only. Never use gasoline. Do not operate engine with air fi Iter parts removed.

FUEL FILTER SERVICEEvery 20 hours of operation.• Pull the fuel filter out from the fuel tank.• Clean the fuel filter in a bath of high flash-point solvent (Fig.13).• Dry the fuel filter and reinstall it into the fueltank.

NOTE: If a fuel still does not flow well after the cleaning, replace the fuel filter with new one.

IMPORTANT: Many solvents are highly flam-mable and may cause serious burns. Improper use of solvents can result in fire or an explo-sion. Do not use gasoline or low flash-point solvents to clean the fuel filter. Clean only in a well-ventilated area away from sources of sparks or flame, including any appliances with a pilot light.

SPARK PLUG SERVICEEvery 50 hours of operation• Take the spark plug cap with fingers, and pullit up.• Remove the spark plug by using a suitable plug wrench.• Clean the electrodes by scraping or with a wire brush to remove carbon deposits and wetness.• Inspect for cracked porcelain or other wear and damage. Replace the spark plug with a new one if necessary.• Check the spark plug gap and reset it if neces-sary. The gap must be between 0.6 and 0. 7mm. To change the gap, bend only side-electrode, using a spark plug tool.• Install and tighten the spark plug to 14Nm (1.4kgfm).• Fit the spark plug cap on the spark plug se-curely.• Pull up the spark plug cap lightly to make sure of the installation of the spark plug cap.Recommended spark plug:

SPARK ARRESTER SERVICEEvery 50 hours of operation• Remove the spark arrester from the exhausthole of muffler.• Clean deposits from the spark arrester screenby brushing it.• Install the spark arrester.

CARBON REMOVAL OF ENGINE INTERNAL PARTSEvery 50 hours of operationThese rtems must be performed with proper tools. See your authorized service center for service and maintenance.
