Funeral service will be held in the Thomson Funeral Chapel, Broadway at Furby, Thursday afternoon, August 27th, 1936, at 2:30 o'clock. Interment in the family plot in Elmwood Cemetery."

FYFE, PIONEER OF PROVINCE - Funeral of Mrs. James Fyfe, 162 Berry street, who died Monday at her residence, was held Thursday from Thomson's funeral parlors to Elmwood cemetery. Elders of Norwood Presbyterian church acted as pallbearers. There was a large attendance of friends and relatives at the services. She was born in Usborne, Huron county, Ont., in 1850. On July 6, 1869 she married James Fyfe. In 1887 the couple came west with their young family and settled in the Snowflake, Man., district. In 1919 they removed to Winnipeg where they had resided since. Mrs. Fyfe was a member of the Norwood Presbyterian church and honorary president of the Ladies Aid of that church. Last month Mr. and Mrs. Fyfe celebrated their 67th wedding anniversary. Mrs. Fyfe's death was the first break in the family in 67 years. She is survived by her husband; 11 children,

Mrs. A. W. Soare. Saskatoon; Mrs. P. H. Reynolds, Moose Jaw; Mrs. J. C. Milne, Chesley. Ont.; Mrs. H. H. Dolmage, Chicago; Mrs. W. G. Handford and Phyllis Fyfe, Winnipeg; Gordon, Crystal City, Man; John, Islay, Alta; Kenneth, Ottna, Sask; Maurice, Australia; and Colin, Vancouver. Thirty-six grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild also survive. James Moir, of Snowflake, Man. is a brother."

span of life, died at his residence Wednesday morning after a few weeks illness. The family home is at 162 Berry Street, Norwood. Mr. Fyfe was born in Govan, Scotland in 1847 and he came to the district of Snowflake, Man. 35 years ago where he farmed successfully for 15 years, when he removed to this city to live and had been residing in Norwood ever since. Manitoba Free Press (21 Jun 1917): "Son of Snowflake Pioneers is Missing - Mr. and Mrs. James Fyfe of Snowflake, Man, have been unofficially informed that their son, Pte. P. M. Fyfe (No 709), of the Australian Imperial forces, has been missing since April 11. A letter has been received by the parents from the chaplain of the battalion informing them of the fact. Pte. Fyfe was last seen in a German trench which the infantry was attacking and is possibly a prisoner in Germany. A brother, with a

railway construction corps, got two days' leave of absence to try to locate him but without result. Pte. Fyfe is 32 years of age. He was only 18 months old when his

parents came to Manitoba from Exeter, Ont.. and settled at Snowfiake where they have lived for 30 years. He enlisted in Australia and took part in the Gallipoli campaign, being on one at the boats which was swept bv Turkish gunfire at Gaba Tepe."

Mr. Soare joined the RNWMP in Regina in 1886 and served with the force for five years in Manitoba and Saskatchewan. His last post was at Battleford, Sask. Following his resignation form the police force in 1891, Mr. Soare farmed at Birsay, Sask. until he moved to Saskatoon in 1916. suddenly April 7 at St. Boniface Hospital, aged 90 years. Funeral service was held Saturday at the A. B. Gardiner Funeral Home, Winnipeg, Rev. David Conly officiating. Interment was in Brookdale Cemetery. The deceased was a member of Greenwood United Church. Born in Exeter County, Ont., Mr. Fyfe came to Manitoba at an early age and farmed south of Crystal City until his retirement in 1944 to move to Winnipeg. chrysanthemums and asters in autumn shades formed the background for the marriage Saturday, Oct. 4, at 3:30 o'clock, of Margaret Irene, second daughter of Mr. and Mrs. A. G. Fyfe, Crystal City, Man., to Mr. George Edward Biglow, son of Mrs. E. J. Biglow and the late Mr. Biglow, Holland, Man. The ceremony was performed by Rev. Frank W. Samis. Miss Lois Fyfe, sister of the bride, played the wedding music. The bride wore a frock of airway blue moss crepe. The long Basque bodice with high scalloped neckline was shirred to a front panel. The skirt was full and the three-quarter length sleeves featured inner arm shirring. The bride's matching felt hat was an off-the-face model with wide corded silk bow and a shoulder length veil. Her corsage was of Briercliffe roses. After a reception at the home of the bride's parents, Mr. and Mrs. Biglow left by motor for the east. Upon their return they will reside in Holland. Obituary: "Margaret Irene Bigelow - Peacefully on Thursday, March 30, 1995 at

Rock Lake Personal Care Home, aged 82 years. Irene was born on May 17, 1912 near Crystal City and was the daughter of Andrew Gordon Fyfe and Margaret Beaton Sutherland. She received her early education at Crystal City and completed her Grade 12 at Wesley College in Winnipeg. In 1932 she graduated from Manitou Normal School with her Teacher's Certificate and subsequently taught at three rural Manitoba schools, Dunrea, Eton and Holland. On October 4, 1941 she married George Edward Bigelow of Holland. They farmed at Holland until 1945 when they purchased the Fyfe family farm and moved to Crystal City. Here they farmed until 1975 when they retired into the village. Irene was pianist at Rosebud United Church for many years and was co-founder of the Rosebud Junior Choir. She was an active member of the United Church Women and a lifelong member of the United Church. Irene was a gentle and loving person, and her family was the centre of her life.

Irene was predeceased by her beloved husband, George in 1991. She will be lovingly

remembered by two sons, Brian (Beth) of Flin Flon and Jim (Chris) of Crystal City; three daughters, Janice Wardell (Gary) of Winnipeg, Barbara Martin (Jim) of Crystal City and Anne Bigelow (Larry Phillips) of Winnipeg; 15 grandchildren, Tom, Alisha, Tim and Brianne Bigelow of Flin Flon, Russ and Patti Wardell of Winnipeg, Jeff, Steven, Eric and Jill Martin of Crystal City, John and Michelle Bigelow of Crystal City, and Mark, Todd and Paul Phillips of Winnipeg; one great-grandson, Bryton Bigelow of Flin Flon; and two sisters Marion Riley of Winnipeg and Lois Totton of Toronto. She was predeceased by brothers James, Roy and Harold and by sisters, Ann Worobec, Phyllis Baker and Jean McRae. Funeral service was conducted by Rev. Marie Goodyear in the Crystal City United Church on Monday, April 3 at 2:00 pm. The pallbearers were her grandsons. . ."

The son of Elias John Bigelow and Elsie Jane Gates, George was born on January 1, 1911 near Holland, Man. where he was also raised. He received his early education at Centreville and Holland schools, and then attended the University of Manitoba where he graduated in 1932 with a Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical Engineering. Graduating at the height of the Depression, he worked at various jobs, including bookkeeper at Island Lake Gold Mine and salesman across Canada for Proctor & Gamble, until deciding to begin farming at Holland in 1938.

On October 4, 1941, he married Margaret Irene Fyfe of Crystal City. Purchasing the

Fyfe family farm, they moved to Crystal City in 1945 where they farmed until retiring into the village in 1975. George was always active in community affairs, serving as school trustee for Rosebud School and later Pembina Valley School Division, where he was Chairman for several years. He was a member of the Masonic Lodge and held the position of Deputy Grand Master for Manitoba in 1964. . . He was a lifelong member of the United Church. . . Besides his beloved wife, Irene, he leaves to cherish his memory and mourn his passing two sons, Brian (Beth Leeder) & children, Tom, Tim, Brianne, Alisha and great-grandson Bryton, of Flin Flon; Jim (Chris Johnston) & children John and Michelle of Crystal City; three daughters, Janice (Gary Wardell) & children Russ and Patti of Winnipeg; Barbara (Jim Martin) & children Jeff, Steve, Eric and Jill of Crystal City; Anne (Larry Phillips) & children, Mark, Todd and Paul of Winnipeg; and one brother, James of Toronto. Marion was born on July 27, 1917 near Crystal City, Man. She was the daughter of Andrew Gordon Fyfe and Margaret Beaton Sutherland. Marion received her early schooling in Crystal City and attended the School of Nursing at the St. Boniface Hospital, graduating in May 1941 as a Registered Nurse. On November 8, 1941 she married Ken Riley of Winnipeg, first living in Kenora, Ont. where Ken worked with the Royal Bank of Canada. They moved with the Royal Bank to several towns in Manitoba, where Marion raised her family and continued to work as a Registered Nurse. Her sons, Rick and Jack, were born in Russell and son Pat in Boissevain.

In 1966 Marion moved to Winnipeg where she worked as an R.N. at the Villa Rosa

Home for unwed mothers. He retired from Villa Rosa in 1986 remaining in Winnipeg for her retirement years. Marion was a life-long member of the United Church of Canada and attended Westminster United Church where she was an active member of the U.C.W. Marion was predeceased by two sons, Rick and Pat; granddaughter Laura, brothers, James, Roy and Harold; sisters, Ann Worobec, Phyllis Baker, Jean McRae and Irene Bigelow. Obituary: "Stuart Alexander Milne of Edmonton passed away on Monday, April 17,

1989, at the age of 69 years. Stuart was born on the 7th Concession of Elderslie Township on January 15, 1920. He joined the Perth Regiment, Company D, shortly after World War II was declared in 1939. He arrived home in June 1945 and shortly after worked on the railroad. Later he was employed at Fort McMurray and owing to ill health, retired to live in Edmonton. He leaves to mourn a sister, Jessie in Florida and a niece and nephew in Ontario, as well as many friends in Edmonton. Mr. Milne was a member of the Royal Canadian Legion Montgomery Branch 24. Funeral services for the late Stuart Milne were held in The Prairie Lily Chapel on Friday, April 21, 1989 at 3 pm with Reverend W. E. Burgess officiating. Interment in the Field of Honour Beechmont Cemetery. Serving as pallbearers were members of Montgomery Branch 24 of the Royal Canadian Legion."

esteemed citizens of this area of the province, John Thomas Fyfe, passed away at the family home at Islay late Monday evening, following a short illness. He was 74 years of age. For forty-two and one-half years he served as postmaster at Islay and during that time he became well and favorably known by a very wide circle of friends and acquaintances. Mr. Fyfe came west 45 years ago from Exeter, Ontario, settling at Islay in 1907. From that year until 1949 he served as postmaster when he voluntarily retired but he and Mrs. Fyfe continued to make their home in the village. Just this fall they moved out to the farm home of their daughter, Mrs. Chas. Robertson and family, a short distance west of Islay.

Mr. Fyfe was an adherent of the United Church. He was a faithful member of the lodges of the

Masonic Order, including Vermilion Lodge AF & AM, the Royal Arch Masons, and the Order of the Eastern Star. He is survived by his sorrowing widow and one daughter, Mrs. Chas. Robertson at Islay. There are two grandchildren. Four brothers and six sisters reside in Eastern Canada. Funeral services are being held under Masonic auspices at the Islay United church on Thursday afternoon Sept. 25th at 2:00 o'clock. Interment will follow at the Islay cemetery. The Rev. C. K. Vogel will conduct the services."

The following day Mrs, Dolmago presented her husband with a baby boy. Each is well known in Winnipeg. Mrs. Dolmage's parents reside at 30 Berry street, Norwood. She was formerly Miss Edith Fyfe. Mr. Dolmage's mother and those of the family at home, reside at Ste. L, Amulet apartments, Westminster avenue, The couple were married at Moose Jaw some years ago. They met while Mr. Dolmage was proving up on his homestead near Lancer, Saskatchewan. Jerry was predeceased by his parents, Clyde and Nellie Maxwell; brothers, Lloyd, Boyd, Stan, Elmer and grandson RichardTemsland. He was born in Snowflake, Man. on April 27, 1922. He moved to Woodbay, Man. in January of 1946. He worked as a labourer until 1947, then

started with the CPR until his retirement in 1985. He married Alice Munro on June 18, 1949. They lived in Woodbay until 1975. The family then moved to Pilot Mound

and he has resided there until his death. Family and friends will each have their own special memories of Jerry. Funeral services were conducted by Rev Roger Lowe of Cartwright at the Pilot Mound United Church on September 1 and interment was in Greenwood Cemetery, Pilot Mound. Donations are apprecated in Jerry's memory to the Pilot Mound United Church."

Oaks Hospital, Sunday, August 13, 1989. Elsie: Obituary: "Elsie Barbara Moir was born in a house by the side of the road on NE 13-1-11 on

July 3, 1907. Her parents were Oliver and Mary (Calder) Taylor, originally from Scotland. She was married to Albert Moir on March 15, 1929 by Rev. John Linton in the United Church Parsonage at Snowflake. They lived on the Adams farm for four years, then moved to what is known as the Albert Siemens farm. In the fall of 1943 they moved back home to her father's farm. They lived happily there for the next 37 years when they retired to Lariviere. In 1988 they moved to Prairie View Lodge in Pilot Mound. Due to failing health, Elsie moved ot the Personal Care Section in November of last year. On May 25, Elsie fell and broke her hip. Her health continued to fail and she passed away on July 7.

She leaves to mourn her passing, Albert, her loving husband of 66 years; children Gerry of

Toronto, Bert and wife Kay of Snowflake; ten grandchildren and three great-grandchildren; a sister, Molly (Chas) Howell of Calgary, a brother Bert (Joan) Taylor of Crystal City, two step-sisters, Mae (Clarence) Semple of London, Ontario and Irene (Wally) McAmmond of Stonewall;

She will be remembered forever by her work in publishing "Echoes of the Past" and "Chronicles of our Heritage." The funeral service was held at Snowflake United Church on July 11, 1995 with Reverend Abe Reimer officiating. . . The ushers were Glen Wheeler and Kim Taylor. Pallbearers were David Headrick, Clifford Conner, Rick Moir, Garry Moir, Robert Moir and Sean Moir. Interment was in Snowflake Cemetery."
