WELCOME HOME
The activity office welcomes eve-
ryone back. Each week we see
more and more of our residents
returning. We are happy to see
you home again, and looking for-
ward to your joining the activities.
I hope you all had a nice summer
with lots of fun adventures. I am
looking forward to getting back to
work, as is my granddaughter who
I so proud to report just found
work back home after what
seemed like an eternity of search-
ing! Everybody here at desert
shadows has been hard at work in
the off-season making improve-
ments and renovating the facili-
ties. Once you get settled in come
on down and take a look around at
all of the changes.
ACTIVITY OFFICE HOURS
The activity office hours has
changed a little. We will be open
from 9:00am to 3:00 pm. Tuesday,
Wednesday, Thursday, Friday and
Saturday and closed for lunch
from 12:00pm to 1:00pm each
day. We will be closed on Sunday
and Monday. If there are any other
changes in office hours they will
be posted on the door.
RESORT IMPROVEMENTS
There have been many improve-
ments made but keep watching as
more projects are completed. We
are proud to be able to continually
work to maintain Desert Shadows
at the highest level. We’ve re-
modeled the lobby and the rest-
rooms with new flooring, sinks,
faucets and countertops. The li-
brary and card room got a face lift
with new carpet and freshly
painted walls and ceiling. We
also added new furniture in the
lobby, and purchased new pads
for the chairs/lounges on the pat-
ios around the pool building. We
restriped the parking lot around
the main building. We repaired
many sections of the roads around
the Resort and are finishing up the
street signs project we began re-
placing last year. We are also
looking forward to the addition of
a new computer workstation in the
library this month.

time to do your fall cleaning and get those closets and
cupboards cleaned out of your unwanted items. And of
course we all go around to those sales and always find
something we think we can’t live without. Maybe we
should rename this day to, “Lets exchange stuff day.”
Regardless of what we call it, it’s fun to visit with eve-
ryone. Come on out!!!

Best Thanksgiving Poem
Thanksgiving is here, so our minds have turned
To what time has taught us, to what we've
learned:
We often focus all our thought
On shiny things we've shopped and bought;
We take our pleasure in material things
Forgetting the pleasure that friendship brings.
If a lot of our stuff just vanished today,
We'd see the foundation of each happy day
Is special relationships, constant and true,
And that's when our thoughts go directly to you. We wish you a Thanksgiving you'll never forget,
Full of love and joy—your best one yet!
By Joanna Fuchs
