Overview of Kenya and Mambrui Kenya is regarded by many as the “jewel of East Africa” and
has some of the continent’s finest beaches, most magnificent
wildlife scenery and a well-established and sophisticated tourism
infrastructure. This beautiful country stretches in an incredible,
unfolding landscape from the coral reefs and white sand beaches
to the summit of Mount Kenya.
Between these two extremes lies the Savannah, one-tenth
of Kenya’s land with national parks and reserves, that cover all
habitats from desert to mountain forest. Kenya’s main wildlife reserves are
found in Amboseli, the Masai Mara, Samburu and Tsavo, where you can see
thousands of different species of animals. Then there are the agricultural
highlands, with massive coffee and tea plantations in the most spectacular
stretch of the Great Rift Valley.
Kenya has a fascinating population with more than 40 different tribes, all
with their own languages and cultures. Major tribes include the Kikuyu, the
Luyia and the Luo, but the most famous are the tall, proud, beautiful red-clad
Masai, who still lead a traditional semi-nomadic lifestyle of cattle-herding
along the southern border.
A Mixture of African and Asian
The unique Swahili culture can be found along the Balmy coast, where for centuries
it has become prosperous for the profits in commerce from the trade winds that carried
ocean-going dhows (sailing boats) across the Indian Ocean to Arabia and Persia.

Mambrui is a small fishing village, just 15 minutes drive from
Malindi Airport situated to the north of Watamu. It faces the long
sandy beach between the Sabaki river and Ngomeni salt mines,
called Che Shale - the kingdom of kite-surfing, where there’s an
intimate, friendly restaurant on the beach.
The beach itself has a breathtaking view. The wild ocean lacks
the protection of the coral reef, common in other parts of
the coast. The high sandy dunes shelter a cluster of tiny
villages from the strong Indian ocean winds which are surrounded by long lines of
tall tropical palms.
The Golden Beach Luxury Villas is approximately 2 hours drive from Tsavo National
Park, Kenya’s largest Wildlife Reserve. A magical location for your exciting safari

Kenya’s Tropical Climate
Generally the weather near the coast is
warmer and tropical. The average annual
temperatures in this region of the Indian
Ocean coastline are around 28°c. This contrasts dramatically with the cold European
winters, since at this time in Mambrui it is sunny with warm coastal waters ideal for
swimming, fishing, scuba diving, sailing, kite surfing and much more!

Documentation
Desiderata Investments Limited is the owner of plot number CR23145 with its Free
Hold Title Deed lasting 999 years. To underline the fact that the land in question is one
of the few in Kenya to have this exemption: the signed document is then signed by the
state’s chairman, that certifies and guarantees exemption from expropriation by the state
itself. This represents an extremely important guarantee for investors and it is an absolute
rarity.
Security
Very high safety levels are provided because the entire complex will be guarded by
private security 24/7, 365 days per year. Each unit will have a remote control service.
Cost of Maintenance and Easy Management
These beautiful villas are designed to satisfy our customers from all points of view.
We have combined design and functionality to reduce maintenance costs and simplified
management.
We use UPVC, terrazzo, and glass materials in order to eliminate perishable materials
such as wood and makuti. Each villa is equipped with a private well, cancelling any costs

Site Plan The plot size is of 27,000 sqm (6.8 acres). It has a rectangular shape and has
approximately 90 m waterfront.
The 12 units will be arranged in six rows of two, so that all of them can enjoy a
stunning view of the Indian Ocean. All of the 12 units will be linked by a 6 metres wide
road. A physical model is available to view at WPS offices in Watamu.
House owners and guests must pass the main entrance where it will be continuously
supervised by the security staff, who will carefully control the names of those who are
entering, so house owners must report the names of any expected guest. All the service
staff (such as cooks, waiters, gardeners) will always be subjected to daily checks when
entering and leaving the complex.

Désirée’s artistic integrity has resulted in a

nothing will ever be the same between
Mombasa and Malindi.
A new design talent has joined an exclusive
group of prestigious interior designers. In the
shadow of makuti roofs, it will not be possible
to ignore the innovative spirit of Désirée
Bellomi, interior designer who has integrated
Mauriac’s philosophy: “You must have the courage to face what you hate” – as a guiding
principle of her creative drive.
Désirée’s unique vision is clearly displayed in her design which integrates this stunning
property with the natural beauty of Watamu Marine Park. The result is a subtle blend
of ‘safari style’ with the decorative trends of nearby Lamu Island and local Islamic and
Eastern culture brought by ships of merchants of the Indies Company.

Her designs, whilst respecting the
traditions of the past, bring a refreshing
and bold innovation to contemporary
African style. In place of coral walls and
entwined palm leaves, guests are amazed
to find themselves in a bright, open and
spacious building. The construction, that
in its shape resembles the stern of a cruise
ship, was designed to enhance and reflect
Watamu’s oceanographic jewel.
Not only architects, but designers were
astonished as well
Initially sceptical about the newcomer, the design
community was curious to see how she would have
managed to decorate without using Lamu’s typical traditions; adorning stucco door posts
and white-washed furniture, elegant symbols of Kenya’s coast.
Désirée has not rejected this style, but added a contemporary touch, and enriched it
with insights offered by nature and everyday life. A piece of metal, a rope corroded by
salt, a log transported to the beach by the waves, bovine horns forgotten in a shed, are
all simple elements, here re-contexualised in stunning simplicity. Everyday objects give
life and glory to the house and offer Désirée Bellomi the opportunity to engage Lamu’s
traditional contemporary spirit.
This is only one of many of Désirée Bellomi’s creations.
Each of her houses has invited international recognition.
For example, Mezzanine, Russia’s most important
architectural magazine was dedicated to one of her
realisations.
Architectural Digest has published many other articles
about Désirée Bellomi’s work in January 2008, November

Mambrui is 2 hours drive from Mombasa Airport, 45 mins from Watamu, 10 mins from Malindi.
Travelling by air
The Jomo Kenyatta Airport (JKIA) in Nairobi is the main air travel centre of East
Africa. Direct daily flights are available with most of the major airlines and from many
airports in the UK. Flight times from Europe are around 8 hours with minimum jet lag,
so a long weekend is possible! You can fly from Nairobi to Malindi with either Fly540,
Kenya Airways or Air Kenya. Malindi Airport is 10 minutes by car to Golden beach Luxury
Villas. International scheduled and charter flights are also available to Mombasa which is
approximately 2 hours, by road to Golden beach Luxury Villas. Kenya Airways run regular
services to some 30 destinations worldwide.

Rental ReturnsWith the increasing demand of villa type holidays from the Kenyan and international
market, Malindi’s easy access to Nairobi and other International destinations makes it a
popular destination for such holidays. The rental season is approximately 9 months long
and it is not uncommon for villas to be full for a period of 100 days a year at the lower
end of the scale and up to 180 days for the more popular villas
