Last December we invitedarea students to take part in theCommercial Dispatch Design anAd contest. Our participants hadThe Dispatch delivered to theirclassrooms, and combined with

a curriculum provided to theteachers, were given the oppor-tunity to learn about marketingand ad design.

To say we have some verytalented artists in our area isan understatement and it was adelight seeing what the studentsproduced for the businesses that were assigned to them.

Each student had the option of producing either a

computer generated or hand drawn ad entry. Thoseentries were then presented to our area advertisers andthey chose which ad they would like to be published inthis section.

We also did some judging of our own and selectedone first place winner from each grade level in the hand

drawn and computer generated category to receive a $50cash prize.

How an ad is constructed, the wording used, thefont chosen, the art displayed and the color choice arethings we think about every day here at The Dispatch,as we want the ads that publish in the paper to catch ourreaders attention and to benefit our advertisers and theirbusinesses.

Area students were also asked to provide content forour section by submitting writing entries. Thank you to

The brightness and creativity of these area studentsshould certainly be showcased more often.

The reason I want this is because its a dog. I love dogs! Its ayoung Female which means you can still train her, and she is my Fa-vorite type of Dog a hound. So that you can train them to hunt. Shehas a very unique name that I love so much which is Bella. She hasalso been spayed and got her shots. I love the white and brown colorof her fur. She looks like she likes to play. I really want a playful dog.

Well at least more playfull dogs. I an also good at drawing thesecertain type of hound dogs.

Suburban? For a twelve year old? Well, its actually a good idea.hink about this, parents have to buy cars and pay for everything

else right? Well they would still have to pay for this because you

know, I dont exactly have a job. Unless thats watching your neigh-bors kids after school Anyway, but buying this for me now wouldsave money later. I mean its nice. Leather seats, A/C, nice and cool,and it will also keep my peeps cool too. New tires, a movie playertoo? How much better could it get? Ruff, Ruff! Awww, you make me sooo happy. Thats what I wantto hear everyday after I get these puppies. I want to see people thatare lonely have a best friend and a smile on their faces. When I firstsaw this ad, the idea just hit me, I wanted to make these preciouslittle puppies into therapy dogs. I would bake some cookies and givethem to the person as I walked in the door, for a little extra treat.

They would stay there for about an hour, giving the sick child or thelonely adult a huge smile on their face, I would treasure that! Iveloved the idea of therapy dogs ever since I was little, I just didnt ex-actly know how to make one so loving. When I was little, I thoughtthat when you bought a puppy, it was just naturally sweet. Now Iknow what a therapy dog truely is, and I would try my hardest tomake a sweet, precious, loving dog. Wouldnt you like that?

Being in the 6th grade, I know I cant drive yet. But if I could,Id drive a Dodge Ram. Why, you ask? Because its big, tough, andstrong. What country girl wouldnt want a big, strong, tough truck?Plus, it has a sunroof, which makes it 1,000 times better in the sum-mer! Now enough about the truck. Im sure you want to know WHYId cherish it. Sohere it is Most girls, for a first car would want alittle beetle-bug, or some other small car, but I would want a DodgeRam because Im 59 and Im only in the 6th grade! Being tall, I

would need a car (or a truck) with lots of leg room. And the DodgeRam has just that! AND if you start off with a l ittle car, it might bemore difficult to learn how to drive a big car, but if you start off withbig car, driving a little car will be a breeze! So now you know whyId want a Dodge Ram! And now all I need is $6,000 and a permit!(and a lot of prayer)

Someone might think a piece of furniture, like a dresser, is worth-less, but it could be a treasure to someone else. For instance, mymom bought an old, dirty, worn down dresser and sanded it with asander. She painted it a beautiful light blue with a brown glaze forthe top layer. I now consider it my treasure.

It doesnt even have to be a dresser. It could be something reallybig like a couch. To someone, a dusty, leather couch could be themost wonderful thing in the world, or their treasure. Some neverthink that one mans trash is another mans treasure.

I would treasure this job because my friends and I can get mani/pedis and a facial. If I worked here, I would decorate it howeverI wanted to. It would be turqoise and hot pink with polka dots. Itwould be located in Caledonia, MS 39740.

We would have manicures, pedicures, facials, and more. Wewould probably even have tanning beds. We would also have tan-ning lotion for tanning, and nail polish for manicures and pedicures.

I would love a job at the upscale spa because I love having mani/pedis with my buds.

I would treasure this because I would be able to start a businessand make money with it. I could sell books, candy, and sports equip-ment. If my business got bigger, I could sponsor high school or col-lege football games. With the sponsors, I could expand my business

which would make my company larger. We would have more moneyand create more Jobs. Then I would spread it across the nation andthen the world. When I want to retire, I can pass the business to mykids and they take the business and keep the business going. Thatis what I would do with it.
