Present Library Pictures

At present the library doorway is very standard. A wheelchair bound individual would not be able to access the library because of the width of the doorway. Any other disabled person would need assistance to enter.

The ideal layout would be wide automatic doors so that someone in a wheelchair would have adequate space to enter.

Body of the Library

Books are stacked very traditionally on metal shelves. The books are packed right up to the uppermost levels of the shelf making it well nigh impossible for anyone with a disability to access them without assistance. The ideal setup would probably include lower or broader shelves so that the disabled would have easier access to the material.

Library computer layout

There is an absence of text reading and text enhancement software on the library’s computers making it difficult for a disabled person to utilize the computers. There is no open book scanner available so that disabled users would be able to hear and see the text read to them.No Braille embosser to convert text into braille for the visually impaired clients.

Conclusion

The Ideal Library would not only be accessible and usable by all patrons, disabled and abled alike, but would also provide the service in such a way that the patrons would be satisfied, happy and want to come back!
