The Department of Geotechnical and Hydraulic of the Science Center of Design and Construction offer the program of Bachelor of Science degree in Civil Engineering accredited by the EAC Accreditation Commission of ABET. http://abet.org, accredited by Council of Accreditation for Engineering Teaching, CACEI, A.C, http://cacei.org.mx, and Level 1 of CIEES, http://www.ciees.edu.mx. AIM: To create professionals of Civil Engineering to design, develop and evaluate projects in the areas of Infrastructure Design for Transportation, Foundations Design, Structures and Buildings, Design of Hydraulic and Environmental Facilities, Construction and Maintenance of Facilities in order to solve the needs of society with criteria of sustainability with an ethical and humanistic perspective within a framework of pluralism, autonomy, social responsibility and quality. APPLICANT’S OUTCOMES: It is desirable that applicants of Civil Engineering have the following preferences and interests: 1. Team work. 2. Creativity, wit and imagination. 3. Outdoors activities 4. Reading. 5. Physics and Mathematics sciences 6. Drawing, sketching. 7. Computing. 8. Foreign languages 9. Self-learning. GRADUATE’S OUTCOMES: The graduate of this major will have the skills, knowledge, attitudes and values described below: Skills: 1. To identify needs, plan and develop the necessary studies and processes to determine the feasibility of infrastructure facilities of transportation means, construction as well as hydraulic and environmental facilities. 2. To design and implement projects to develop solutions for infrastructure engineering of means of transportation. 3. To design control systems to increase traffic safety. 4. To design structures and buildings with criteria based on safety, economy, sustainability and functionality. 5. To carry out the structural, hydraulic and environmental analysis and design by using specialized software. 6. To assess the risk of damages in existing structures and foundations. 7. To plan and participate in sustainable programs of community participation. 8. To design extraction systems of underground water with criteria based on sustainability. 9. To design and develop sustainable systems of recollection, piping and treatment of waste water. 10. To assess the environmental impact caused by hydraulic works under construction or in their final stage. 11. To innovate the procedures of construction and maintenance of civil works based on the requirements of the project so they are safe and efficient. 12. To manage and improve human, material, and financial resources as well as the use of equipment to carry out constructions and maintenance of works with the corresponding requirements of efficiency, safety, functionality, economy and sustainability. 13. Basic theories of engineering sciences such as Hydraulic Engineering, Environmental Engineering, Construction Engineering, Sanitary Engineering, Engineering of Systems and Roads. Mathematical and mechanical models of structures behavior as well as foundations under static and dynamic loads. Building Codes. Mechanical behavior of soils and rocks. Hydraulic and Hydrologic models as well as design methods of Hydraulic Works. Treatment processes of waste water with environmental and sustainable criteria. Methodologies and criteria to assess the impact of works. Software to apply the design and analysis of settings of Infrastructure Design for Means of Transportation, Design of Foundations and Structures, Design of Hydraulic, Environmental and Construction Works. Accounting aspects for the management of the work. Constructive procedures related to the type of work with criteria of quality and sustainability. The current policies of management, construction and maintenance of works. Basic criteria of the Design of Installations in Buildings.

WORKING FIELDThe working areas of a Civil Engineer are Design of Infrastructure for Means of Transportation, Design of Foundations and Structures, Design of Hydraulic, Environmental and Construction Works. The working field of the graduate can be summed up according to the type of context:

Organizational:In the private sector: Large-scale, medium-size, small and micro service companies of civil engineering aswell as self-employment.In the public sector: At federal, state and county levels.In the mixed sector: At state-owned enterprises such as CFE (Federal Company of Electricity), PEMEX(Mexican Petroleum), CAPUFE (Federal Roads and Bridges), and so on.

Professional working conditions:The conditions that the graduate will face can go from office work to field work in normal settings and/or high risk ones.The graduate will be able to perform subordinate, collaborative, management and top management works.

LocationThe civil engineer will be able to work in urban, suburban, rural and borderland areas at local, regional,national and international level. Des

GRADUATION REQUIREMENTSThe graduate will comply with what is established in chapter XIV related to graduating at technical level,upper technical level and undergraduate level, article 156 of the General Regulations of Education whichestablishes that:

“Once that the all the subjects and requirement have been completed in the curriculum of the majors attechnical, upper technical level and undergraduate level, the graduate will be able to request their titleat the Registrar after fulfilling the following aspects:

I. To have completed the requirements from Community Service, Humanistic Education, Internship andForeign Languages defined in the institutional programs;II. To corroborate that there is not any type of debt with the Autonomous University of Aguascalientes;III. To have paid the cost of the title established in the plan of authorities; andIV. To taken the graduate exam.”
