CASE PACKING EQUIPMENT/SYSTEMS

Massman Automation Designs, LLC has proudly been providing “end of line” packaging equipment solutions to a wide variety of industries for more than 30 years.

Massman Automation Designs, LLC has case packing solutions for every application, from small footprint, low-speed applications to large high speed continuous motion case packers. Our case packers handle wraparound, RSC knock down, harness style, and tray blanks. Below are all the different case packing solutions available to our customers.

WRAP AROUND CASE PACKER

The wraparound case packer places product from the side or top of the wraparound, harness style, or tray blank.

BOTTOM LOAD CASE PACKER

The bottom load case packer while maintaining a vertical orientation of the RSC case, loads product from the bottom.

END/SIDE LOAD CASE PACKER

The Knock Down or KD case packer loads the product through the end or side of an RSC style case blank.

ROBOTIC CASE PACKER

Robotic technology allows integration of all types and sizes of robots into our case packers to provide unique and special product handling.

• Robotic case packing solutions provide a unique ability to handle challenging products and place them into an erected case.

• Flexpickers are capable of high-speed pick and place applications where the use of vision is required to properly orientate the product into an erected case.

• Providing customized robotic palletizing systems with the use of ABB, Fanuc and Motoman robots. Capable of handling multiple SKUs of product in production simultaneously.

The top load case packer loads product through the top of an RSC, wraparound, or harness style case.

PALLETIZING EQUIPMENT/SYSTEMS

Massman Automation Designs, LLC has proudly been providing “end of line” packaging equipment solutions to a wide variety of industries for more than 30 years.

Massman Automation offers a small footprint, low-cost gantry palletizing solution, a high-entry palletizing solution specifically designed for the handling of 40 pound cheese blocks, and robotic palletizing solutions capable of handling multiple packing lines.

GANTRY PALLETIZER

The gantry palletizer is capable of picking multiple cases with vacuum or mechanical end-of-arm tooling (EOAT) and building the desired pallet pattern including the placement of base and layer sheets.

ROBOTICS

Massman Automation Designs, LLC integrates several different types of robots of various sizes to automate the product handling for a wide variety of industries.

Massman Automation uses robots to accomplish complicated articulating motion, high-speed flex-picking applications and continual heavy lifting applications, such as palletizing. A vision system is added where required.

ROBOTIC FLEX PICKERS

The ABB flex picker robot is integrated in a frame-and-conveyor system. When accompanied with a vision system can accurately pick and place prod-uct at rates up to 100ppm.

FLEXIBLE POUCH PACKAGING

FLEXIBLE POUCH FILLING MACHINE

Massman Talon Flexible Pouch Filling Machine

The Flexible Pouch Filling Machine is capable of filling and sealing up to 90 pre-made pouches (4.5-8” W X 6-12” L) per minute on a 1, 2, or 3 pouch index. Standard features include: Allen Bradley PV 700 Touch Screen Operator Interface (multi-lingual) for Ease of Use, Allen Bradley Control Logix PLC, and an Allen Bradley Kinetic 6000 servo motor and drive for the pouch flight chain. Several optional items such as; nitrogen flush, product delivery systems, date coding, reject station, hanger hole punch, pouch fitment installation, and others are available to meet most pouch packaging requirements.

HFFS DUAL CLAMP FLEXIBLE POUCH PACKAGING MACHINE

Massman Talon HFFS Dual Clamp Pouch Packaging Machine

The HFFS Dual Clamp Flexible Pouch Packaging Machine is capable of filling and sealing up to 60 large pouches per minute. Standard features include the ability to form three or four sided Stand-Up pouches from preprinted roll stock film, high integrity pouch package seal areas, feeds and laminates re-closable zipper into the top seal of package, automatically presents pouch to product load station, and transfers finished filled pouch from machine to take-away conveyor.

Massman FlexPack HFS Design

The Massman FlexPack HFS series of packagers is designed to accommodate a wide range of package sizes. For Example, the HFS-IM1200p (pictured) is a 12” pitch machine with a pouch sizerange from 4” width x 5” height to 10” width x 15.5” height with a maximum gusset of 5”. The HFS series packager will have a modular design to allow for maximum design flexibility on a perapplication basis to meet a variety of customer needs. The HFS series of packagers will allow for the addition of a pouch forming section for maximized material cost savings.

HFFS HIGH SPEED FLEXIBLE POUCH PACKAGING MACHINE

The HFFS High Speed Flexible Pouch Packaging Machine is capable of filling and sealing 50-150 pouches per minute. Standard features include the single point plow adjustment, Solid State Electronic componentry, Touch Screen Operator Interface (multi-lingual) for Ease of Use, Auger Filler for filling powder product, funnel product delivery system, top seal stations, and cam and lever mechanical design for reliable multi-shift operation.

The Massman FlexPack HFS series of packagers is designed to accommodate a wide range of package sizes. The HFS-1500 is a 15” pitch machine with a pouch size range from 4” width x 5” height to 12.5” width x15.5” height with a maximum gusset of 5”. The HFS series packager will have a modular design to allow for maximum design flexibility on a per application basis to meet a variety of customer needs. The HFS series of packagers will allow for the addition of a pouch forming section for maximized material cost savings.

The Zipper Unwind Stand is capable of handling 16” – 32” diameter zipper material by a maximum of 22” wide at a rate of up to 100 feet per minute.

The HFFS Single Clamp Flexible Pouch Packaging Machine is capable of filling and sealing 100-200 pouches per minute 2-7.75” wide by 2-9.5” tall with a gusset up to 2” wide. Standard features include the single point plow adjustment, Solid State Electronic componentry, Touch Screen Operator Interface (multi-lingual) for Ease of Use, Multiple fill stations, and cam and lever mechanical design for reliable multi-shift operation.

DUPLEX FLEXPACK

The Massman FlexPack HFS series of packagers is designed to accommodate a wide range of package sizes. For Example, the HFS-IMD 1200 (pictured) is a 24” pitch machine that fills two pouches per index, at max speed of 45 indexes per minute with output up to 90 pouches per minute, pouch size range is 4” width x 5” height to 10” width x 15.5” height with a maximum guesset of 5”. The HFS series packager will have a modular design to allow for maximum designflexibility on a per application basis to meet a variety of customer needs. The HFS series of pack-agers will allow for the addition of a pouch forming section for maximized material cost savings.

CARTONING & PRODUCT PLACER SYSTEMS

CONTINUOUS / INTERMITTENT MOTION CARTONER

The Massman Continuous Motion Cartoner offers a high speed cartoning solution for horizontal loading of intermediate sized cartons.

The cartoner offers many standard features such as an ergonomically and operator friendly design, self-cleaning fall through design, speeds up to 300 cartons per minute, rotary “no backlash” carton set-up, enclosed “chainless” drive, six foot powered carton magazine, point of use overload protection, and solid tubular frame. All these standard features with a quick changeover capability.

Cartoning solutions to meet today’s automation challenges

We offer innovative equipment designs that can boost production speeds up to 300 cartons per minute, intermittent and continuous motion, horizontal and vertical in the perfect combination of designs to meet your needs. We will evaluate your carton and product application to determine what load configuration will work best for you; end load, top load, hand load infeed, or hand load cartons are all possibilities. We also offer solutions for auto-carton setup, where product configuration requires manual handling.

TIMING GATE

The Massman Timing Gate offers an affordable, labor saving solution for product accumulating and machine loading challenges.

The Timing Gate System is available in (3) different arrangements. An air cylinder drive for speeds up to 100 ppm, a clutch/brake system for speeds up to 150 ppm, and a servo driven system for speeds up to 150 ppm with single count and multiple count (speed is contingent on product). Standard features include tubular frame, product speed-up and launching conveyor, easy access design, leveling feet, and easy size adjustment (servo drive system).

ROTARY / RECIPROCATING PLACER

The Massman Rotary Placer offers high speed product placing.

The rotary placer has a 24” inclined magazine is capable of speeds up to 400 ppm. Many optional features are available such as, variable speed control, clutch-brake controlled, powered horizontal powered magazine, “low product” sensor, “missed-pick” sensor, and many others.

MASSMAN TIN TIE APPLICATOR WITH SINGLE FOLD BAG FINISHER

Massman Tin Tie Applicator with Single Fold Bag Finisher

The 4500 Series finishes filled and sealed bags by adding the tin tie reclosures and single folding the bag tops. The 4500 Series applies the tin ties to the bags with hot melt adhesive, single folds the bag tops and automatically bends the tie tabs around to hold the folded flaps. The 4500 Series can be built to place the tin tie inside OR outside the single fold. This machine can also be integrated with a vertical form fill and seal machine to provide reclosable packages from a completely automated system.

AUTOMATED BAG CLOSER

Massman Automated Bag Closer - Glued Double Fold with Tin Tie

The 4100 Series Tin Tie Applicator/Double Fold Bag Closer is a completely automated bag finishing system. The 4100 Series trims the bag tops, double creases for crisp consistent folds, applies tin ties with hot melt adhesive, double folds the bag tops, glues the folds with hot melt adhesive, and bends the tie tabs around the folds. Optional equipment is available to re-gusset the bag tops to align their corner edges, space the bags for consistency through the machine, and/or plow down & tape tape down the bag tops for tamper evidence.

BAG PLOW DOWN MACHINE

Massman Bag Plow Down Machine

The 6100 Series Bag Plow Down System plows down (single folds) gabled package tops and applies a label to hold the top in place. The plowed down package provides a squared off package that reduces headspace requirements in shipping cartons and keeps product shelf space at a minimum. The 6100 Series can be used with Tin Tie Applicators or various other bag closing systems.

DOUBLE FOLD BAG CLOSER

Massman Double Fold Bag Closer

The 6500 is a robust double fold machine. It is designed for production line performance. It’s capacity of up to 90 feet per minute makes it an ideal choice for any automatic process line. The creaser design assures a good fold every time. The adhesive application is adjustable to place any amount, from small spots up to a full length bead in the fold. The 6500 can be teamed with other accessory equipment to plow and tape down the folded bag for a tight finished look.

SEMI AUTOMATIC TIN TIE APPLICATOR

Massman Semi Automatic Tin Tie Applicator

The Semi Automatic Tin Tie Applicator is available in the 2200 Series (pictured) and the 2500 Series. The LX2200 and RX2200 tin tie machines place .315” wide, double wire tin tie, on bag faces of filled bags. Filled bags would normally be pre-sealed. The tin tie is applied using a hot melt adhesive. The 2500 Tin Tie Machine places .315” wide, double wire tin tie on bag faces of filled bags. Filled bags would normally be pre-sealed, and as with the 2200 Series, the tin tie is applied using a hot melt adhesive. The tie ends extending past the edge of the bag are then automatically bent around the bag neck for a finished look.
