Photography allows you to find the beauty in life. It is said people who love photography are those love life and have a pair of eyes that can find the tiny and touching moments everyday.

I have a passion towards photography. Taking pictures is my way to record any happy time in life. When I look back at these moments, I feel my life fullfilled. I have a DSLR but I always use the au-tomatic mode to take pictures. To me, It’s so annoying sometimes to look at those tutorials and handbooks. I am looking for a method that can teach people to play DSLR in a much easier and understandable way.

Currently, there is some camera simulators online which allow people to learn to play DSLR in a virtual environment. However, these simulators only teach people to understand the concepts of apeture, ISO and shutter speed. Beginners still have problems when they have a real DSLR in hand. Hence, I want to improve the situation and to provide DSLR fans a better way to learn. How to learn DSLR through playing? It’s my goal and design drivers.

Using mind mapping, I came with four different ways people use to learn to play DSLR, through ear, eye, mouth and hand. Then I did divergent thinking in each category. Think of the present method and a new method I can develop. I really like that the idea that let the DSLR speak to you or make it more ergonomic designed of its interfaces. However, my final idea is not to change the camera itself. I want to provide people a better tutorial that allows people to learn to play DSLR using not only one sensor but occupying lots of them.

Selecting DSLR inteface allows users to choose the camera that they want to learn. The left column demonstrates different DSLR brands. Users can choose the type of camera directly or just search for it. The right columns demonstrate DSLR with pictures. When user se-lects one of the DSLRs. It will go into the simula-tor interface.

Simulator interface demonstrate a DSLR user selects in a virtual enviroment. Users can choose scenes in which they want to take a shot. Then they can change the focal distance, mode and any other functions of the camera. When they think they have decided all the settings, they can press the shot button. And a picture will appear on the screen. There will be tips be-sides the camera. Users can look up to it during the process. In this way, they fail and try again and again to get the best shot.
