CALENDAR detailsINCLUDESAll trips include transportation, most meals, qualified leaders, activity instruc-tion, all camping and entrance fees, and specialized equipment.

REGISTRATIONRegister for trips and programs in person at the CSUSB Student Recreation and Fitness Center. All our trips are open to CSUSB students and community mem-bers over 18, unless otherwise noted.

FAMILY OUTINGS*A few specified trips (identified with an *) are open to youth, 15 and over, when accompanied by an adult. All participants must be in adequate physical fitness.

CANCELATIONSTo cancel your participation, you must contact (909)537-BFIT. Failure to contact CSUSB Recreational Sports at least 72 hours in advance will result in a 100% loss of fees. 72 hours to 7 days will result in a 25% cancelation fee, minimum $10. Cancelations more than 7 days will result in a full transfer of fees or a refund minus a $10 processing fee. Transferring trips/programs constitutes a cancelation and is subject to the aforementioned policy.

Similar to the reality TV series “Survivor”, The Coyote Survivor Challenge features 16 students that will be isolated for 3 days in the mountains near campus to compete for the title “Ultimate Coyote Survivor” and the grand prize. The two “Tribes” of 8 will compete throughout the weekend in reward and immunity challenges both as Tribes and as individuals. Do you have what it takes to outwit, outplay and outlast the others?

black canyonKAYAKNovember 19-21, 200pm - 1000pm

Kayaking the Black Canyon of the Colorado River below Hoover Dam is awesome! Our kayaks will take us between towering cli�s and looming canyon walls as we navigate the flat moving water of the river. On the way to our riverside camp we will explore side canyons, natural hot springs and the famous sauna cave. We end our trip after a soak in the hot pools and a leisurely paddle down river.

This trip is perfect for beginners who need a bit more instruction and for those of us who think we are ready for the gnarly terrain park. Includes snowboard, boots, lesson, lift ticket and transportation.

This is an excellent chance to visit California’s most popular park in its winter glory, without the crowds. We will set up base camp in our HEATED tent cabins in Curry Village and take side trips to visit waterfalls, snowshoe among the giant sequoias, explore the valley and take in some scenic vistas. Yosemite is a winter wonderland!

CSUSB Outdoors will spend Thanksgiving weekend snorkeling, kayaking, backpacking, camping and exploring beautiful Catalina Island including the newly developed Trans-Catalina Trail. During this island escape we will experience much of what the island has to o�er. We will also spend some time in the town of Avalon discovering its relaxing beaches, shops and restaurants.

Whether you are an experienced climber or want to experience climbing for the first time this trip is designed for you. fly fishing DAY TRIP October 9, 800am - 500pm

After attending the free on campus workshops, (October 5th and 7th from 530pm – 800pm at the SRFC, see website for details) be sure to join us as we put our newly learned skills to the test at a local mountain stream. The experts from Deep Creek Fly Fishers will walk the creek with us before we cast our lines. All equipment, transportation, instruction and lunch are provided. Fishing license not included.

Yosemite National Park is one of the first and most popular wilderness parks in the United States. Yosemite is best known for its waterfalls, but within its nearly 1,200 square miles you can find deep valleys, grand meadows, ancient giant sequoias, a vast wilderness area, and much more. This is a must do in your lifetime.

Santa Barbara is California at its finest- beautiful mountains, beautiful beaches and beautiful weather. In other words, the perfect place for a kayak overnight trip. After setting up our beachside camp, we will head to the water for a sunset paddle and then head into lovely downtown Santa Barbara. We will spend the next day paddling on the water and soaking up the sun.

The beaches of La Jolla will be our destination where you can swim, snorkel or just walk on the beach. After relaxing and playing, we can explore the nearby shops or grab a snack. Swimming experience required. Snorkeling instruction will be provided.

Death Valley National Park is a place filled with great beauty and natural wonderments. November is a great time to journey through the park as daytime temps average 76 degrees. We will camp and explore the dramatic colors of the desert landscape as well as the historical features of the park. We plan to visit Badwater, the lowest point in the western hemisphere at 282 feet below sea level as well as explore the lunar landscape of Zabriskie Point, play on the sand dunes, tour the famous Scotty’s Castle, and much more.

Nature’s seasonal highlights are a great reason to get yourself outdoors. This hike will bring you to a “hot spot” of the fall season, where picture taking opportunities will be at their all time best as we stroll along the trail. Trip includes leaders, transportation and a great picnic lunch.

BIG bear zipline adventureSeptember 26, 900am - 500pm

Zip Line Canopy tours mix adventure with excitement giving a unique perspective of the natural environment. Our tour consists of 5 zip lines, an aerial platform over 90 feet in the air and takes approximately 3 hours. This tour crosses the canyons, includes incredible vista zips and features wonderful views of Big Bear Lake and its surrounding beauty.

Julian camp and hikeOctober 1-2, 200pm - 600pm

Julian is a historic gold mining town located approximately one hour east of San Diego. After a night hike and camping under the stars, we wake the next morning to enjoy another local hike. After our hike we will attend the Apple Days Festival in Julian and check out some of the shops and enjoy their famous apple pie.

SoCal is a prime location for surfing. If you have ever wanted to learn to surf, this is the trip for you! Our enthusiastic leaders will give you a shore lesson and help you catch some waves. Come and enjoy a day of surfing or playing Frisbee on the beach. These trips sell out so register soon.

Deep creekhot springsOctober 17, 800am - 600pm

Mountains, canyons, sand beaches, swimming holes, five natural hot springs, and the occasional nude hippy... what more could you want on a trip? The trail to the springs is challenging, so be sure to bring sturdy shoes. At the springs we spend the afternoon lounging on the beach, exploring swimming holes and soaking in the natural hot springs.

horseback rideand hollywoodOctober 21, 300pm - 900pm

The hills of Gri¤th Park, which is located at the eastern end of the Santa Monica Mountain range in Los Angeles, will be the setting for our 1 hour guided western trail ride. After our ride we will have a quick dinner in Hollywood and visit the Walk of Fame and the historic Grauman’s Chinese Theatre. Horses available for all experience levels, including beginners! Rider weight limit of 200lbs; an extra fee for over 200lbs.

Upon arriving in Newport Beach we will have a picnic lunch before boarding the Western Pride for a 5-hour excursion along the coast. The Captain and crew provide years of fishing experience that is invaluable in helping to make each fishing outing relaxing and successful. You do not need to be an experienced fisherman to successfully catch fish. From novice to experienced, this trip is for you.

The 96-foot tall indoor skydiving wind tunnel in nearby Perris, CA is an ideal way for all ages and skill levels to enjoy the sensation of freefall without the airplane! You’ll become familiar with the art of indoor skydiving in just a few minutes. Price includes training gear, instruction and more flight time than 2 skydives!

CSUSB Outdoors takes you on a relaxing yet adventurous tour of the sandy protected lagoons of Mission Bay. In addition to fun and exercise you can expect to see wildlife, including sea lions and sea birds. We will also visit old town San Diego for dinner. All gear and lessons included.

Mount San Jacinto is the second highest, most prominent mountain in Southern California. It is home to magnificent granite rock faces, alpine forests, and wildflower covered meadows. We willspend two days backpacking through thewilderness and exploring panoramic views of the San Bernardino Mountains. This is abackcountry trip; we sleep in tents, carry all ourgear, cook our own meals, and poop in the woods!

Stand Up Paddle Board (SUP) is quickly becoming a popular pastime for very good reasons. Come see what SUP is all about and join us as we explore Mission Bay and the beach with stand up paddleboards. We will start o¨ with a lesson on the flat water and then make our way down to the beach where we will get a great workout trying to paddle into the surf!

Join CSUSB Outdoors as we travel to some of the area’s best climbing spots. We visit sites with routes appropriate for beginners and the more advanced climber. We will cover the basics of climbing: knot tying, belaying, general equipment use, and basic climbing technique. Prepare for this trip by getting some climbs in at the SRFC climbing wall.
