Demonstration of Peer Mark
Camtasia Video
The accompanying demonstration videos were created using the Camtasia Studio 8, not previously used
by the author .
Clip One – Introduction
This document is intended to give guidance for the implementation of formative assessment through the
use of the Peermark Facility which is part of the TurnItIn System and should bu used in conjuction with the
Demonstration Videos. Both Peer Assessment and Formative Feedback can be achieved by use of
PeerMark. Although there is some debate on the validity and reliability of this strategy there is strong
evidence to suggest that students both enjoy and value the exercise.

Clip Two – Overview
This project has been designed to:
allow for the greater use of formative feedback,
help create an inclusive learning community through greater involvement of the students in their
assessments.
It is also hoped that this activity will allow for improved assessment achievement by the students
through a formal ‘chunking’ of the assignments set and giving marks for the formative activity.
Minimise the impact of additional formative feedback on the tutor.
Create enhanced reflection skills and action planning for the students own learning
Contribute to Lifelong Learning through improved critical thinking, problem solving and
communication skills.

- The left hand side of the screen allows a visual review of the Assignment, along with print
functionality and tools to add highlights and comments to the script, similar to the GradeMark
function. The right hand side of the screen represents the questions created earlier (Clip 4 – Peer
Mark Settings), the student click the radio buttons on the scaled questions and then complete the
