DESIGN REVIEW MANAGER

OBJECTIVEDesign Reviewer Manager enables real-time issue resolution on the virtual prototype by enabling formal management of the complete review process within specific product zones or the entire product. Design Reviewer Manager improves quality and time to market, and reduces costs by detecting, tracking and managing interferences on complex and large digital mockups.

OVERVIEWFor many companies, reviewing designs can be a challenging process with many steps to consider, from locating parts to building an assembly for participants to review and record any issues. Parts or assemblies can be out-of-date, review teams can be missing critical roles or individuals and reviews can be conducted haphazardly with no consensus on issues or follow-up actions.

Design Review Manager shares a complete 3D report of how development decisions are made. With Design Review Manager, users access tools that optimize visualization, navigation, analysis, and communication. Users may analyze product consistency, display review presentations, reply to reviews, and make better informed decisions.

Design Review Manager offers a complete set of tools to organize, manage and follow-up the review process for the

design authored with CATIA® 3DEXPERIENCE® or converted from other CAD tools into the 3DEXPERIENCE platform. Design Reviewer Manager also supports collaborative review of multi-CAD designs referenced within a 3DEXPERIENCE product structure. It enables users to:

• Define the people to participate in the review — the community.

• Define the target of the review through a set of objectives or the checks related to requirements.

• Define the data to be reviewed — the context.• Declare the points or highlights to be presented during a

review meeting and their severity and link them to a check. • Create follow-up tasks or engineering changes for each issue

agreed during the meeting.• Follow the status of each check and the number of related

issues and their maturity.

The data-driven architecture of the 3DEXPERIENCE platform enables reviews to be managed as database objects fully associated to the design, allowing teams to catch issues sooner.

In order to execute thorough reviews, Design Review Manager provides product synthesis experts with the capabilities to detect interferences on complex and large digital mockups in real-time. Users can detect potential clearance, contact and clash defects within the entire product or a specific design context by launching interference computations interactively or leverage automated interference validation. The results are stored in the 3DEXPERIENCE platform for pursuing a complete resolution process.

• Build their Design Review environment digitally in real-time. • Analyze the digital mock-up to gain early insight into key

factors that determine quality, performance and cost.These capabilities enable better decision-making by stakeholders, leading to faster time to market, quality improvements and lower costs.

Perform a Review with Comprehensive Analysis Tools Design Review Manager provides users with review tools to access information, create slides and add text and annotations for accurate design analysis and information sharing. Users can:

• Review product structure, interference results and/or the system’s structure (functional and logical data).

• Engage 3D review tools that reveal important details and allow users to add 3D markers to annotate the digital mockup or section geometry to analyze the content and measure items or distances.

• Use a robot to move parts in to provide more clarity in the review.

• Render all 3D markers with colors, transparencies and position.

• Enable instant collaboration for participants to share any review information in real-time.

• Manage the data for the complete review process — community, checks, context, highlights, actions, etc. — associated with the 3D data for quick and informed decision making and follow up until resolved.

Users can perform reviews, add information and feedback to issues, and reply to previous reviews or other participants’ comments. Using Design Review Manager, users create reviews that remain fully associative throughout the product development lifecycle. Reviews contain information to enable knowledgeable decision-making.

Detect Interferences InteractivelyUsers can define the specifications of the interferences computation that they want to perform by selecting different options including clearance, contact and clash. The validation process is optimized because specifications and results can be stored for future reuse. Designers can better understand issues and apply the correct modifications using the post-computation analysis tools.

Global Interference Detection on Digital MockupsProduct synthesis experts can set up a complete environment, including the entire product or a design context built from filters on product configurations, volume, and attributes (including owner name, role and maturity), and with appropriate interference computation specification.

Manage Interference Analysis, Tracking, and ResolutionDesign Review Manager improves design quality by allowing users to prepare digital mockup data for formal design review, perform interference analysis interactively or leverage automated interference validation, analyze the errors found and assign the resolution actions to designers to perform the required modifications.

Handle Large Volumes of Data with Optimized PerformanceWhen dealing with large assemblies, Design Review Manager allows users to launch interference computations in batch mode so the client resources are not utilized. This enables users to continue working on other tasks while interferences are computed asynchronously and results saved in the 3DEXPERIENCE platform for resolution process.
