    Generator Designations & Definition of Ratings

    Generator Model Designations - Midi, John Deere, Deutz and Volvo

    All generator model designations begin with the prefix BC. The following letter(s)are used to indicate the manufacturer of the engine on which the generator is based.

    For example: Lister-Petter BCLJohn Deere BCJD

    Volvo BCV

    The next part of the designation is a number which represents the rating of thegenerator followed by a frequency & phase indicator thus;

    50Hz 3-Phase BCXX [max standby rating in kVA]-50

    50Hz Single Phase BCXX [maximum rating in kWe]-50SP

    60Hz 3-Phase BCXX [max standby rating in kWe]-60

    60Hz Single Phase BCXX [maximum rating in kWe]-60SP

    The final part of the designation indicates the appropriate level of emissionscertification, if applicable.

    For example: 50Hz, compliant with Euro Stage 2 - E2

    60Hz, compliant with EPA Tier 3 - T3

    Generator Model Designations - All other equipment 650kVA

    All generator model designations begin with the prefix BC. The following letter(s)are used to indicate the manufacturer of the engine on which the generator is based.

    For example: Cummins BCCMitsubishi BCM

    Unlike the lower rated sets covered above, the specification of these sets may varybetween Prime and Maximum Standby duty. Hence, the designation incorporates anindicator P or S accordingly. (Also note there are no single phase models in thispart of the range).

    The next part of the designation is therefore a number which represents the rating of

    the generator followed by the P or S indicator, followed by a frequency indicatorthus;

    50Hz 3-Phase Prime BCXX [prime rating in kVA]P-50

    50Hz 3-Phase Standby BCXX [max standby rating in kVA]S-50

    60Hz 3-Phase Prime BCXX [prime rating in kWe]P-60

    60Hz 3-Phase Standby BCXX [max standby rating in kWe]S-60

    The final part of the designation indicates the appropriate level of emissionscertification, if applicable.

    For example: 50Hz, compliant with T.A. Luft (2g or 4g) - L

    50Hz, compliant with Euro Stage 2 - E2

    60Hz, compliant with EPA Tier 2 - T2
