Supported Learning Management Systems (LMS) at Queensborough

Blackboard –hosted by CUNY, currently at Bb, Inc. in VirginiaPros Mature, robust – many features including Web 2.0 All Courses and Students automatically populated each semester

Cons Version 8, which we are using, is NOT well supported by Bb, Inc. Sometimes viewed as unstable, but most outages are related to CUNY’s Login

system (LDAP) and overloads of CUNY’s Network

Epsilen – hosted by the NY Times in Manhattan Pros Includes four components: ePortfolio; Groups; Courses; Assessment Matrix Includes Web 2.0 tools and Social Networking capability Seems stable, but does not have the user load that Bb has

Cons Courses, Groups, and Students membership must be established by each faculty

member Feature for feature it is not as robust as Bb, but it is getting better with time
