Today is November 1 and Winter is only 50 days away. This Fall has been hard to beat, but we know Winter is on its way and the New Year will be here in 60 days! I was asked by a Noble “why has no one asked me to help?” Let this be your official invite to ask you to help your temple. We have a number of jobs, but we do not know what your talent is. A big one is food. We have a dinner each month and need your help. If you see something you are pas-sionate about, please step forward and volunteer! What an October we have had. October 2-7 was the Potentate’s New England Trip. We had 58 No-bles and Ladies go on the trip to see two Shrine Hospitals, fall colors and of course, Lighthouses. Our very own travel experts, Noble Nils and Lady Linda Nordberg did one outstanding job! “Thank you” from everyone on the trip! We hope you enjoyed our last meeting on October 13 for our Public Relations report to our Nobles and Ladies on our Hospitals and Kids for 2014-2015! Our meal was done by our very Noble Richard and Lady Heidi Talkington, with the assistance of Noble Don and Lady Kathy Weiser. Our servers were our 2014 Aides. Thank you all for making the evening special! Did you miss your Birthday Party on October 18? Well 70 Nobles, Ladies and Friends did not! Our Aides were up to no good. With the cake decorat-ing and a Potentate piñata, everyone had a Happy Birthday for this year! Yes, it was your Potentate’s big 60 and thank you everyone for celebrating your birthday with the Potentate! The Aides did a great job of putting on the dinner and making for another fun evening at El Jebel! Well, that pretty much puts to bed another month! What’s coming up? Our 26th Annual Holiday Craft Show will be Octo-ber 31 to November 2. Do a little Christmas shop-ping early at the Craft Show. November 8 will be the Veteran’s Day Parade and the last parade of the season. November 10 will be our 50-Year Awards, Jewels, Nobel and Ladies Appreciation Party all rolled into one evening. Dinner is $15 with a menu of spiral ham, scalloped potatoes, medley of vegetables, garden salad and assorted desserts. We have some other items to recognize. For members of the Scottish Rite, the fall reunion will be November 13 to the 15. If you can make some time, there is something new at every reun-ion. On November 15, the DeMolay boys will be doing their degree, all Master Masons and Seniors DeMolays are welcome! November 16 will be the 74th Circus Kick-Off Par-

ty! It’s FREE, but you do need to sign up! November 22, is Operation Free Bird…you have never been? Put it on the calendar, it is a fun Fall afternoon with Rocky’s at 64th and Federal (Noon-4:00 p.m.) see our webpage for more information. December 8 will be our final Stated Meeting for 2014 with Elections! Come out and vote for the good of the order. December 13 will be the Kids’ Christmas Party, open to kids of all ages. Yes, that means you! SOMETHING NEW! We have a new way for you to sign up for din-ner. Right under the Red Fez on our home page, you will see Event Registration. This will take you out to our new market place. We were asked if something comes up, can they cancel? YES, but you must do it 7 days before the event. As you know, we are having our meals brought in and we only order for those we have reservations for. So don’t be the one that just shows up without a res-ervation, we may not have enough food for you. Anna’s Walk - Do you remember Anna? Anna is now in Kentucky! We will try and keep you up on Anna’s Walk. We have her Facebook link on our webpage or you can check out her webpage at www.annaswalk.com. I hope we have kept you informed of the goings ons at El Jebel. If not, are you getting our e-mails to you from El Jebel? If you are not on El Jebel’s e-maillist, go to El Jebel’s website (www.EljebelShrine.Org) and sign-up. While you are on the website, snoop around, you might just find out what is going on in your Temple! Until next month, keep looking for the Brother Mason that has not found the FUN yet and ask him to come join us! Can we get enough new mem-bers to have a Ceremonial before the end of the year? Remember Just One More… Having fun this year? It is not too late to join in on the FUN! Fraternally, Just One More…Phil

Leaping Lena is Back! (By Bobby Marner)

Thank you for your patience while we were looking for parts for Leaping Lena. She is now back in the lineup and will be ready for the Veteran’s Day parade.

A big thank you to Bruce Evans for hav-ing foresight to heal a unit that has been a backbone to El Jebel for a long time (since 1951).

We have new members, but are always looking for more! We will have Lena, Double-header and the 1926 Fire truck; all looking for fun and fellowship. If you want to join us, show up and jump on!

The October Awards Night began at 6:00 p.m. with an excellent fried chicken dinner pre-pared and served by Rich and Heidi Talkington assisted by Don and Cathy Weiser. The meal was enjoyed with plenty of food for all. Of course, the dessert was a high point, pie topped with ice cream! Following dinner at 7:00 p.m., our Potentate, Illustrious Sir Phil Hause, began the night with the presentation of the Colors by the Legion of Honor and the Pledge of Allegiance to the Flag of our Nation followed by the singing of our National Anthem, led by the Chanters. The Flag detail was dismissed and our Chaplain, Noble Jim Oliver gave an invocation. Our Poten-tate made introductions of Past Potentates; Don Sichterman-1986, Bob Van Male-1988, Jack Pat-ton-1990, and Ron Cosens-2003. Noted Mason-ic persona were recognized and asked to speak: Bill Klatil, Secretary, Denver Consistory; Joe Summers, Right Eminent Grand Commander; and John Zeaphey, Eminent Grand Junior War-den. Visiting Nobles Nick Nicholson and Richard Hunter were introduced by the Potentate and then Illustrious Noble Phil introduced Mike Tre-vathan, Assistant Rabban to make a presenta-tion about our Shriners Research Hospitals for Children.

This was a very informative and interest-

ing summary of the Shriner Hospital activities and unique successes illustrated by a Shriners International film showing two former patients and their individual success stories. The film truly showed the continuing benefits given to children in need regardless of backgrounds. It demonstrated the value of supporting the

Hospitals in all that we, as Shriner, do. The work of the Shriners Research Hospitals for Chil-dren is legendary.

Our Potentate followed the excellent brief-

ing by accepting a check to the Hospitals for $253.00 by the Noble Cycles raised during their Poker Run activities. He then presented the Jewel of Honor to Alan Simmons and the Silver Ribbon to Jim Taylor. Congratulations were ex-tended by all present.

Illustrious Sir Phil outlined his announce-

ments listed below with and an emphasis on the Circus Kickoff Party:

18 October, Temple Birthday Party 31 October – 2 November, Craft Show 8 November, Veterans’ Day Parade 10 November, Awards Night/Noble Appre-

ciation Party 16 November, Circus Kickoff Party 22 November, Operation Free Bird at

Rocky’s Auto Upon finishing his comments, Illustrious Sir Phil Hause closed the evening’s activities at 8:00 pm, peace and harmony prevailing. Signed James C. Bobick, Recorder El Jebel Temple

El Jebel Shrine Band History By Charlie Shaffer One hundred years……that’s a very long time, and where does one begin. The El Jebel Shrine Band celebrates its 100th anniversary in 2014 and has seen a multitude of directors, lots of changes, and has gone from a small en-semble to large one and back again. In 1908 after the first El Jebel Temple was erected at 18th and Sherman streets, Nobles Verner Campbell and Harry Edwards enter-tained thoughts of forming a Band for the new building. There were few musicians and little interest for many years, but with determina-tion and perseverance the dream became a reality. In 1914 Potentate George J Charpiot appointed Bert Henry as the first director of the newly formed Shrine Band, and the first concert was presented November 9, 1914. The Band has continued as a unit for one hundred years, striving to provide music for the Temple and the general public. In 1918 Potentate Rodney J Bardwell ob-tained the services of Frederic Neal Innes as Band Director. Noble Innes was a trombone virtuoso of National repute, who began his solo career in Paris at the Follies Bergere in 1879. He moved back to the U. S. in the 1880’s and performed as a trombone soloist with the Gil-more and Baldwin bands until he took over as director of the 13th Regiment Band. Mr. Innes then formed his own band, which performed at the 1893 Chicago World’s Fair. Innes moved to Denver in 1914 to direct the Denver Municipal Band, and he continued that association until 1916, when he opened his own music school. Innes also composed marches, one of which, “Love Is King March” is in the El Jebel Library. He remained in Denver until shortly after his wife died in 1923. He then moved to Chicago where he died on December 31, 1926. Potentate Charles E. Wells appointed Lewis B. Skinner as band director in 1921, and the El Jebel Shrine Band played a concert once a month for many years in the old City Auditori-um. Skinner’s march “Jim Burger” which was published by the Charles E. Wells Music Com-pany is also in our library. The Band appeared at Imperial Sessions in the following years: San Francisco, 1922; Washington, D.C., 1923; Kansas City, MO, 1924; Los Angeles, 1925; and Philadelphia, 1926. The Imperial Session of 1923 was one of the largest, and President Warren G. Harding, a member of Aladdin Tem-ple, reviewed the Shrine Parade. For the massed bands performance John Phillip Sousa, a member of Almas Temple, conducted his new march “Nobles of the Mystic Shrine.” No-ble Skinner resigned in October of 1925, and was replaced by Noble John Leick who had

played in the Sousa Band. The new Shrine Temple was opened in 1929, and by 1931 the Potentate wanted to dispense with the Band because of the depres-sion. Once again Noble Verner Campbell worked hard to convince the Potentate to allow the Band to continue as a unit. In 1927 com-poser J. DeForest Kline, faculty member of Colorado State College of Education (now the University of Northern Colorado), composed a march titled “El Jebel Temple” which he dedi-cated to the Band and its conductor, John Leick. Leick continued as director until 1942. Then in 1942 Potentate W.W. Cline ap-pointed George V. Roy as director. Roy was a noted Trumpet teacher in Denver whose pupils came from as far away as Wyoming to study. Roy continued to direct the band until 1953. In 1953, Potentate W. Dale Houston ap-pointed Paul C. Dawson director of the band. Dawson continued in that capacity until 1964, and during his tenure the Imperial Session of 1960 was held in Denver. The El Jebel Shrine Band hosted several bands from across the U.S., marching at the beginning and the end of the Imperial Session Parade. Noble Dawson was appointed to the line of the Shrine Band-masters Association at that convention. Potentate Richard Martin appointed Charles Fields director in 1964. The band membership grew to 80 members, and Noble Fields re-signed in December 1964 because of poor health. Potentate Charles T. Gore appointed Byron T Jolivette to the director’s post in 1965. Jo-livette directed youth bands in the Denver area for many years and remained at the post until September 1970. Then R. K. Ekander con-ducted the rehearsals, and as he wasn’t a Shriner, Harold Johnson directed during the meetings. In 1971 Potentate Roy T. Littlejohn ap-pointed John T. Roberts as director of the Band. Roberts was a band teacher with Denver Public Schools directing youth bands. Roberts later became the supervisor of music for Den-ver Public Schools, and was with the Temple until 1973. Potentate Ben F. Knudsen appointed Gene Burns to be band director in 1973. Burns re-mained until 1977. Then Potentate Ralph D. Hill appointed Lloyd Bowen as director in 1978. He resigned later in the year and Marvin Feld-man, who played trumpet in the Band, took over as Director. Noble Feldman taught instru-mental music at Goddard Junior High School and remained director until 1994. Noble Dick Hays, who played clarinet with the band, di-rected during 1995; Dick had retired as band director in Broomfield schools after many

years. In 1996, Dr. James Fuller was appointed director, and in the early 1970’s, he inter-viewed the Shrine Band as a part of his doc-toral dissertation, the title being “Colorado Adult Amateur Bands and the Implications for Music Educators.” The dissertation was pub-lished in 1973, and he received his Ed.D. from the University of Northern Colorado. Fuller remained as director until 2000. In 2000 C.U. student and composer, Todd Goodman, assumed the mantle of director. He remained until 2001 when Steve Asheim took over. Asheim was also the director of the Arapaho High School Band. He continued with the Shrine Band until 2003. After his depar-ture, Dick Hays again filled in until another di-rector was appointed. Ted Worth assumed the role of conductor in 2004. Ted had retired as band director of the Brighton High School Bands after many years. He has continued to work with the Shrine Band through some lean years during which time, the membership has been opened to non-Shriners. The Band continues to play prior to the meetings and for public perfor-mances. At the Imperial Session in St. Louis in 2008 Noble Charles F. Shaeffer was elected to the line of the Shrine Band Association of North America. In 2010, he was elected Pres-ident of the SBANA, making preparations for the 2011 Imperial Association, which was hosted by El Jebel. There were only seven bands, which participated that year, as the number of Bands throughout Shrinedom has dwindled due to the loss of membership with-in the Nobility. As the El Jebel Shrine band enters its sec-ond century, we continue to provide entertain-ment for the Temple and the public. Our commitment to children in need of medical care is our primary and foremost goal and motivation. We look forward to our years to come in our new Shrine Center. BOULDER SHRINE CLUB By Dale Pierce

The Oct 13 meeting was started with lunch at Willis Case Golf Course. Following lunch, the group convened at El Jebel in the Arab Patrol Room for the business meet-ing and program with 10 members and guests pre-sent. Since the Club’s Divan

rep wasn’t present, John gave brief report on the sale of the building. He indicated that there is a Denver zoning meeting this month and if it passes, there will be a vote by the members to sell the building. He also indicat-

ed that was a special Web page on the El Jeb-el Web site about this issue. A discussion was also held by the Club’s photo shoot at the Dec 13 Children’s Party and the New Year’s Eve Party.

After the business meeting, Jim Taylor presented a program on “Skype,” a computer for calling, seeing, messaging, and sharing with others wherever they are free. He had handouts on “Skype”.

At the Club’s Nov 11 meeting, we will have a show and tell program; each member will have an opportunity to share one of their favorite software or hardware.

Our meeting start with lunch at 11:30 am at the Willis Case Golf course restaurant followed by our regular meeting at 1:00 pm in the Arab Patrol Room. Wives, guests, and cu-rious people are always welcome. All Shriners are invited to join our Club; dues are just $12.00 per year. The Christmas party plans are being fi-nalized and a decision will be made by No-vember 1st. Our usual plan is to have a luncheon and a gift raffle. Everyone who can

is asked to bring a wrapped gift (or two) with a value in the range of $5-$10. A reservation letter will be mailed by the middle of Novem-ber.

Our Divan Rep. attended the Septem-ber 17 luncheon. He reported on Shrine ac-tivities and mentioned that the 6-month time allotted to move from the Mosque will not begin until funds are actually received. He also reported on the Sportsman’s Raffle and said that the income will be greater than last year. It was of interest to learn that the Arc-tic Cat all-terrain vehicle was won by Mark Moline, an employee of Bass Sports. He had bought only one ticket.

At the October 1 luncheon, Lewis Maxson brought Dr. Jim Lindley as his guest. Dr. Jim suffered a severe heart attack in Au-gust that required a ride in a helicopter to the hospital emergency room. Fortunately, the stent procedure was all it took and he is now in very good health. He mentioned his recent work with the Fredericksburg Pioneer Muse-um. The city of Fredericksburg was founded in 1846 by mostly German immigrants. In the year 1849, a severe cholera epidemic took ap-proximately one-third of the residents. The city thereafter thrived and is now a city of outstanding museums and the number one ranked hospital in the country.

The Club is now holding another sports contest to predict the final win/loss record for the Broncos for the year 2014. Those partici-pating and their picks are as follows: Smoky Yoritomo – 16 wins; Lewis Maxson – 16; Don Kamunen – 15; Lance Barron – 14; Chapin Blake – 13; Jack Russell – 13; Gary Jewell – 12; Herb Schillereff – 11; and Jim Cram – 10 wins. Keystone Kops By Larry Clark

The Kop’s parade season is winding down. We’ve had a very busy, fun filled time this year. There have been Kops in parades, picnics, social functions, Ceremonials, and of course Keystone Kops meetings.

See you at the meeting November 4th. This is different meeting date, we changed to the first Tuesday for the remainder of 2014. Loveland Shrine Club by Robby Rover

It is sad beyond words to report the passing of a young and vibrant mother and wife, but Cyndy Kukus is now in a pain-free residence. Our most sincere condolences go out to Josh and their children.

On a chance encounter in Ft Collins, I spoke with Merilyn Tappan; she related that she doesn't get out much due to an advancing growth in her brain; please send her your prayers.

On a lighter side, Earle and Margaret Zander will celebrate their 67th anniversary this month, and Bob and Edith Chenoweth will celebrate 69 years! Anyone who has a life ma-te is lucky indeed.

The end of the year is rapidly approach-ing and our happy little band needs commit-ments to fill the officers' chairs for 2015. Your club is in your hands and does not require a large pledge of time or money.

One more time: we have reverted back to going dark during the summer months; see you in January. "Doing what you like is freedom, Liking what you do is happiness" NORTHEAST Colorado Shrine Club by Charlie Johnson In the early days of black and white televi-sion, western movies were very popular. It was easy to find a good gun slingin’, cow chas-in’, stagecoach robbin’ feature to watch. One of the shows was called ‘Maverick’ with James Garner as the star. He was not the normal cowboy nor did he conform to the normal way of western life. He truly was a ‘Maverick’. Now most of us out here on the Prairie know that a ‘maverick’ refers to an unbranded calf or colt and belongs to whomever finds it and puts their brand on it. It also refers to an individual who does not always ‘run with the crowd’. Our little band of Nobles kinda reflect that charac-teristic. We tend to be individuals, men of character who believe in certain principles and who expect others to be true to their word. In the general population, we would fit the ‘maverick’ designation but in our Masonic peer group, we fit right in with the men of the Craft. We are proud of that fact and intend to contin-ue to promote our Masonic roots…it doesn’t put money in our bank accounts but we sure sleep a lot better at night knowing that we are doing the right things.

Our last monthly meeting included posi-tive reports on state-wide Masonic activities, the up-coming Grand Lodge events, and a re-

view of the local Lodges fall events. We ap-proved a committee to audit our books and a nominating committee to suggest potential leaders. Cards were directed to be sent to sick and distressed members. As most of you know, our club meets for breakfast each month and we often bring our Masonic friends to join us. So, our standing invitation is offered to all Masons to meet with us on the second Monday of the month at 6:00 a.m. at the Sinclair Overland Trail Café at the Atwood Exit #115 off I-76. We guarantee a hearty breakfast with lots of friendly Shriners. Northern Seven Shrine Club By George Van Trump

The Sept 12 meeting was held at the McCoy’s Restaurant, Denver, CO, with 12 members and guests present. The meeting started the treasurer’s report. A discussion was held about the future of the El Jebel building and possible places for El Jebel to meet after the building is sold.

The next meeting will be at 6:00 pm on Friday, Oct 10 at McCoy’s Restaurant, 4855 Federal Blvd, Denver. Reservations are re-quired by calling at Wes 303-423-7264 or Don at 303-452-2137. All are invited to attend this meeting including wives and guests. Shriners are encouraged to join. Dues are $15.00 per year; the 1st year’s dues are free for new members.

If you have any questions, please con-tact George Van Trump at 303-232-3542 or at [email protected]. OPTARS By J & J Taylor

The October 14th dinner meeting fea-tured Ed Hamm, showing his Scotland pic-tures at the White Fence Farm. We started

with the wonderful appetiz-ers and continued with the yummy chicken and shrimp. There was a good turnout (20 members and guests) who enjoyed the pictures. Ed & Cathy took thou-sands, and had to pick about 500 to show---all pre-

pared for showing since they just got back from Scotland! It was good to see Joe Kent; he’s still in a neck brace from surgery on his stenosis, but all is going well, and he should be out of it in a few weeks. Marv Sellinghausen was there, but Joan was home with her fractured vertebrae---sorry to hear that, Joan; get well soon! Patty Dun-smore will be going in soon to have her spine rotorooted---good luck to you, Patty! Swen

and Andrea Hoffman brought their darling daughter, Maiya, who is soon to have a new sister! Now, everybody take your vitamins, and we’ll see you next month. The drawing was held, and who should win? Appropriate-ly, Ed Hamm! He deserves it, with all the work we make

him do… We also had a few guests join us

(Scotland is a very interesting place), besides our Divan Rep, Paul Altimier, who didn’t even know White Fence Farm existed!

The next dinner meeting (November 4) is likely to have our pizza, unless we find a flexible caterer. Ron Dunsmore will be show-ing the pictures taken at Hudson Gardens in August. He will also give us some of his many tips about photography, perhaps critiquing a few on composition, lighting, better use of the lens, etc. Ed Hamm might help.

Don’t forget the December 2nd Christ-mas dinner-party, with entertainment of The Harplanders. This will be at Homestead Grill in Lakewood. The Meeters and Jeffco Shrine Club are planning on joining us, along with any oth-ers who would like to (call George Moreno, our Secretary--- 303-455-4174,). Keep focused! Pictures: 1435, 1449, 1460 Pipe Band By Kent Burns

The old saw “You can never go home again” is so very true The Band has many fond memories of great shows with the cadets of the Air Force Academy. But now that their pipe-band-friendly director, Bill Smith, has re-tired we can no longer perform with them. So we looked around for another brass band and, with Bill’s help, found the Rocky Mountain Brassworks. Our first concert with them is ac-tually a pair of concerts, the first one to be on Saturday, 8 November at the Broomfield Audi-torium (3 Community Park Road, Broomfield, CO 80020) at 1400 (2:00 pm), and the sec-ond on Tuesday, Veterans’ Day, 11 November in the Lakewood Cultural Center (470 South Allison Parkway, Lakewood, CO 80228) at 1730 (7:30 pm). Both performances will have the same program, one which mainly features the Brassworks and at which we are basically a token presence. This will be our “audition” for this group, and for which we have practiced diligently. And improved greatly.

The public hearings to change the zon-ing upon which the sale of the building is con-tingent are rumored to extend into the New Year. If so, the same rumor has it that we may still be in the building in the spring. That means that the Band may host another Medie-val Feast in April. We are in contact with an-

other brass band in the hopes that it can be coerced into helping us “retire” from our beau-tiful building in style. If we can pull this off, everyone is encouraged to come partake in an evening of fun and food, and for Shriners, it will be preceded by the Highlander Degree in the afternoon.

Although the Band is winding down the performance schedule for 2014, we are already booking some of our “regular” performances such as the Burns Dinner for the Sterling Blue Lodge, Fat Tuesday in Snowmass, DAV Auxilia-ry in February, a third degree for one of our prospective members, and possibly Winterskól in Aspen, and other similar “play dates” for 2015. We will always welcome anyone inter-ested in pipes, drums, or dancing (Highland or Irish, not ballroom) and encourage them to visit us on Thursday evenings at the Shrine.

Since it is approaching the start of the holiday season, here’s wishing everyone a great Thanksgiving, filled with family, friends, football, turkey, and most especially thanks for all our blessings. Provost Guard By Casey Campbell Provost Marshal

Thanks to all who turned out for the Broomfield parade. It was a great success with lots of entries and a ton of viewers along the parade route. It really makes a Shriner feel good when somebody walks up and says thank you, if it wasn’t for the Shriners, their child would not be walking. This is what it is all about, the children.

I want to again encourage all Provost Guard members to support our shrine. We need volunteers to help cover the booked events. The same three four or five people that continue to cover the booked events are in need of a rest. With twenty plus provost mem-bers, we should be able to rotate and have some more people step up and help cover these events.

Good news is we have potentially three or four new and younger people who have been first lined to the blue lodge and are inter-ested in becoming provost members as soon as they complete their path to the shrine. Wow, what an encouragement.

The practice continues to be every week at the shooting range as long as the weather permits. I personally am looking forward to the warm Sundays that we can shoot this winter. We shoot clay at 0800 and pistol at 0900, weather permitting. The Christmas Party has been scheduled and I will have the provost secretary send out the particulars as to the location etc.

With the year winding down, be sure to

read all of the Red Fez articles so you can stay up with the events and changes as they occur. God Bless and please say a prayer for those in need. RADOPS By Sid Wright

It seems there hasn’t been much news to come this way in the last month. However, there are a few items which I’m sure are of in-terest to the membership. Stu Asay, having recently upgraded to “Extra” class, now has a new vanity call sign. At least I think it’s a van-ity call sign. The suffix looks suspiciously like his initials. You’ll now hear him on the air signing K0SFA.

Chuck Noah dropped by the ten meter net the other night. He and Jane had just re-turned from a trip to South Carolina to attend the wedding of Chuck’s daughter and also to see his grandchildren and great grandchil-dren. He told me how many of each there were, but I forgot to write it down. You’ll have to ask him. The following day, they were off again to New England to see the fall colors. I think he’s our new “Rambling RADOP”.

Emit Hurdelbrink has been up to see the possible site for our UHF repeater when it be-comes necessary to move it. As reported last month, it’s at the site of the Pillar of Fire Church's AM radio station. From Emit’s de-scription of the suitability, it seems a little “iffy”. It appears our antenna would have to be in a place not secure from public ac-cess. This problem will need a lot more inves-tigation.

And finally, if you’re thinking about up-grading to a new and better rig, you might want to consider the new Hilberling PT8000A 200 watt transceiver made in Germany. It’s all band (160 thru 2 meters), all mode, all eve-rything, and has one of the best receivers on the planet. List price is a reasonable $17,500 USD not including shipping. 73, Sid RV ROAMERS By J & J Taylor

This is a continuation of last month’s ar-ticle, since the Red Fez deadline had come up and we were not even home yet; so the story wasn’t over about the Roamers’ Branson Cara-

van trip…continued from October: There was enough time for several extra side trips in Branson, and many of us chose to

go to some of the numerous shows and do more shopping. Many of our group had extra vehicles, so we (J & J) got to bum rides with different mem-bers to different paces. We

went on an hour-long “Duck Tour”, to Stone Hill Winery for a great tour and 15 tastings, and visited the very interesting fish hatchery. On one evening Jerry Kent acted as the Card Bingo caller (this is becoming a tradition!), and on another, we watched the Bronco game in the clubhouse (they won). Forgot to mention that Marolyn Kent was with us, and looked great! We’re so happy she’s getting her energy back; she made a ter-rific “Vanna” as she collected all the losers’ money in Card Bingo! We had to coax her a little, however, to give it to the winners.

When most everybody split up on Sun-day (some members stayed on, for various reasons) there were Roamers roaming every-where---some went north, some went east, a few full-timers like Kipers and Korenics went south; J & J went west around the lake, then hit all the back roads we could. It was beauti-ful, and we took another 142 pictures! Can’t wait for the next one… The October event will be our last “Outing” for the year. Parrish Ranch near Berthoud is the place we will meet, on the 17th, 18th & 19th. We’d love to have you join us on an upcoming “Inning”! Sandblasters by Steve Tucker PP Monthly Sandblaster's Lunch - Eighteen were in attendances, items dis-cussed: …..Report on Estes Park, where the Sand-blaster's sponsored one hole of the Masonic Tournament. With all the problems the course provided in supporting this function, the outing went well and those participating enjoyed the event. This was the first year for this event and a second is planned. …..The remaining golf outings were discussed, at months end, the 2014 golf season in Colora-do will close for the Sandblaster's, with the planning stage for 2015 to begin. There will be a few days left to go out and play if you don't mind wearing winter attire. Saying all that, it’s time to watch for your invitation to join the Sandblasters in Arizona. February 25th will be the start date, a full report will be presented next month during our monthly lunch in Octo-ber. Plus, you should have received a first let-ter about the trip. …..The Sandblaster's need individuals to step up and volunteer to be a future officer in the Inner-body, please let a present officer know of your interest. …..The topic of how many golf outing should the Sandblaster's have each year, more or less then was enjoyed this year. Should they be every other week on Thursday for example, with maybe six tee times booked, moving around the Metro area. This will be a topic of

discussion during the October Monthly lunch. Please be there to provide input. …..Illustrious Sir Phil, reviewed upcoming date at El Jebel, pointed out that if Nobles wanted information on the Temple's sale, they should go the El Jebel Web Page for details. September 25, 2014 - Golf at Pinehurst CC, hosted by Amer Plaisted, enjoy by twenty-five Sandblaster golfer's, which started with lunch, followed with individ-ual stroke play. Those off the first tee, found green, trees and eventually the green.

ber 1st or Thorncreek Golf Club on October 14th. Both should be discussed during the Oc-tober 29th Monthly Lunch meeting at Golden Corral. Future dates: Annual Meeting on November 12th at Golden Corral Christmas Party at Pinehurst Country Club on December 5th If your are interested in joining us, talk to a Sandblaster or come to our Monthly Luncheon which takes place at Golden Corral, off of South Santa Fe and Hampden, the last Wednesday of each month at noon. SPORTS By John Kesig

The Sports had only one event since our Brush outing on September 6th when we pa-raded in Arvada Colorado. That event was a call-out parade at Broomfield, Colorado with excellent weather prevailing. The Sports par-ticipating in the parade were Clark, Paustian, Williams, Croft, Varner, Kesig and Roche. Af-ter the parade, the shrine provided a picnic at a Broomfield park that had very good accom-modations with tables, shelter, restrooms, etc. The food was plentiful and well prepared and served by a group of lovely ladies under the direction of Richard and Heidi Talkington. The Divan walked this parade, however, the Sports were ready if a ride was needed.

Our next and final parade for the year is the Veterans Day Parade in Denver on Novem-ber 8th. If you would like to experience a pa-rade, bring your fez and a smile and ride with a Sport.

If you have a convertible and would like to join and parade with an active group, we meet on the Wednesday of the second full week of the month. Our next meeting will be November12th at Willis Case Golf Course start-ing at 5:30 PM and meeting at the Shrine at 7:00 PM. See or call any officer for a petition. Tanzers Dance Club By Bob Stretch

Octobers Tanzers dance was nothing short of amazing. The band, Bringers of Swing, rocked the house with a wide selection of music that pleased everyone young and “more senior”. We had a big crowd that stayed until the band played “The Party’s Over” and still many of our couples remained taking the time to socialize with each other while the band packed up. We continue to see many new faces as well as our “regular” dancers. Per-haps the word is getting out about how fantas-tic El Jebel Shrine dances are so if you are reading this article spread the word and let’s fill the dance floor for our next Tanzers dance on November 21st. As I mentioned in the Octo-ber article we have started offering a sit down plated dinner again prior to the dance so when

the e-mail comes out for you to sign up please do so as soon as possible as we must have a count for the caterer several days prior to the dance. The cost remains at $18.00 and in-cludes gratuities.

Dances for both the Tanzers and Direc-tors dance clubs are scheduled through 2015, you may pick up a schedule at the Shrine. If you would like to save some money, join the Tanzers dance club, we will be offering a spe-cial reduced price for the 2015 dances with the membership.

It is not too early to plan for the New Year’s party at El Jebel. The celebration is on so don’t miss out. The cost is $135.00 per couple and will be limited to 150 couples. The New Year’s celebration includes a Cash Bar opening at 6:00pm, followed by Dinner at 7:00pm, and dancing from 8:30 to 12:30 pm. A full breakfast will be served at 12:10. The price also includes a free 4X6 picture and Par-ty favors. The real treat for the evening will be the Music by: The El Jebel 16 piece band. They have been a big hit with our dancers. The deadline for reservations is Decem-ber 21st. For more information call John Zeaphey VIP By Wayne Covert Summer has gone, and the parade season is almost over. I would like to thank each mem-ber that took part in the parades, you’re the ones that make the difference. This past sum-mer has been a challenge for a lot of our members. Ken Viburg as most of you already know had a hip replacement done that went South due to a staph infection. They have re-moved the replacement until the infection is gone, then they have to start over. They are planning to do the replacement at the end of November, Keep Kenny and Jennie in your thoughts and prayers, this is going to be a very long haul for recovery. Ralph Loberg is home the last I talk to him, and doing better.

We have had good turn outs for our so-cials considering summer plans and trips ECT. If some are wondering about our Shrine and progress, in October’s Fez there is a write up and newspaper clipping in what’s going on, click on that link. Our monthly meeting is at Mickey’s Top Sirloin, Broadway and 72nd. Sec-ond Thursday at 7:00 pm, dinner at 5:30 if you care to join us. PLEASE R.S.V.P. Phil at 303-523-9998. November social will be hosted by Matt and Debbie Raia on November 16th. They will be contacting each of us with a time and place, please R.S.V.P. at that time. The Christmas Social- Party, yes I said CHRISTMAS not holi-day, will be hosted by BAD Bobby and LOVELY Lisa Marner. Watch for announcements via E-mail or phone.

KEEP IT ON THE SQUARE AND ON THE LEVEL we are Masons first! WESTERN COLORADO SHRINE CLUB (WCSC) by Steve Thomas

Our WCSC board meeting was called to order by our fearless leader Michael Thayer at 11:45 am at The Grand Vista Hotel in beautiful out skirts of Grand Junction Colorado. The Blessing was made by Bro. Bob Magos and John Green led us in the pledge. Minutes were approved as mailed.

Pres. Michael Thayer thanked all those who attended the Oktoberfest at the Blue Moon in Grand Junction on Oct. 11. It was good to get together with fellow Shriners just to have a little fun. A good time was had by all. Bro. Joe Kendrick received his 60 year Masonic pin as a highlight of the day.

Bob Emrich stated we sent seven kids to Salt Lake and one to Chicago.

Walt Wright had called the contact per-son for Veterans Day parade in Grand Junction and is still waiting for him to call back. We're thinking the parade is Nov. 8 and line up at 1 PM. He said he'd get word out when he knows for sure. That's the same day as the Election of WCSC Board officers.

Christmas Party Chairman, Ted Herrman said all is going well with the Taste of Heaven Restaurant. That's at the old Furr's building on North Ave. That will be Friday Dec. 5th.

Sickness and Distress: Sam Haupt’s wife Nicky was visited by the Black Camel. Our prayers to the family. Bro. Don Stout is have some health problems and we are all pulling for him. Get well soon Don! Past Sec, Clint Maxfield was have some trouble with his oxy-gen level and we hope he is on the mend. His lady Reta is also in the hospital and we hope she is getting better.

Clowns: We had five clowns follow four Scooters at Green River parade and some of the time we actually gave them enough room to maneuver. Then at Fruita the Scooters de-cided, "What the heck, if we can't beat 'em------ join 'em!" So we had two Scooters mix it up with us. That was fun guys. Next, the clowns will entertain Scottish Rite kids on Dec. 6 in Grand Junction and Montrose for their Christ-mas parties.

Tee Offs: Got rained out on their golf tournament on the 27th but went ahead with the dinner catered by Cowboy and the Rose. A good time by all.

have the election of officers at our Nov. 22nd. Meeting at Davetos Italian Restaurant in Delta at 1pm. Might want to be there for you own protection.

Director’s Staff

Greetings to all Nobles and Ladies, A quote from our President Ron Dunsmore: Quote: A snowflake is one of God’s most frag-ile creations, but look what they can do when they stick together. Therefore, if anyone has anything shrine related that they would like to see in my article, please email me the infor-mation, (a hard copy is preferred for my rec-ords), and I will try to include the information. However, there are two things you must be aware of. I must submit my article by the 15th of month before the information is seen in the Red Fez, and that if anyone has selected to receive a hard copy of the Red Fez, they may not get their copy until around the tenth of the month containing the information you requested me to include. My email address is [email protected]. If anyone has any information concerning any member of the Director’s Staff, or widow, who we have not heard from for some time, (you can get these names by looking in your Director’s Staff roster), please contact them and report on them at our next business meeting or have them send a card or contact our secretary.
