Premessa generale.

Desktop Manager è il tool software il cui caricamento avviene in modo automatico all’avvio delsistema operativo ed è l’unico strumento messo a disposizione del personale del negozio perinteragire con il sistema.

Scopo di questo applicativo è quello di mettere a disposizione del personale negozio (e delpersonale tecnico di service qualora necessario) unicamente strumenti e procedure certificate;inoltre di garantire la blindatura del sistema.Fondamentalmente le attività messe a disposizione sono due:

- Avvio del software gestionale Shoppy

- Attivazione di specifici tool software atti a verificare il corretto funzionamento deidispositivi hardware che compongono il sistema stesso.

All’accensione del computer, ilcaricamento del tool Desktop Ma-nager, sarà pressochè immediatoma per il suo utilizzo è necessarioattendere circa 60”. Questo è iltempo necessario al sistema ope-rativo per assicurare il completocaricamento di tutti i necessariservizi software.

Il messaggio “waiting for startservices” lampeggerà sullo scher-mo per 60 secondi trascorsi i qua-li scomparirà ed al suo posto ap-pariranno due pulsanti; a quelpunto Desktop Manager sarà atutti gli effetti pronto per l’uso.Questo è il menù principale del-l’applicazione.

Overall preamble.

Desktop Manager is the software tool that is automatically loaded on the computer systemstart up. It is the alone program available for the shop assistants to interact with the computersystem.

The aim of this tool is to make available to the shop assistants (and to the service people justin case), only certified software tools and procedure; furthermore to assure the impenetrability(armor) of the system.Basically, from Desktop Manager, there are two available functions:

- Start up of managerial software Shoppy

- To activate the specific software tools for to check the reliability of the variousdevices of the system.

Post’s numbere whereDesktop Manager is in use

The loading of Desktop Managerwill be quite immediate at thesystem start up but for its use 60"are required. This is the timenecessary to the OperatingSystem for to complete theservices loading.

The message “waiting for startservices” blinks for about 60seconds and then it stop; to itsplace will be shown two buttons.When they appear this meansDesktop Manager is ready to work.This is the main menu of the tool.

I layout dei sotto menu della sezione UTILITIES invece possono risultare diversi tra loro a secon-da di:

- Nazione dove il sistema è installato

- Configurazione hardware del sistema

- Configurazione software del sistema

- Modalità di trasmissione dati

- Tipologia di postazione: Master, Client, Server DB

Nelle pagine di questo documento vengono presentati tutti i tool che possono essere presentiall’interno del Desktop Manager; la loro effettiva presenza invece dipende da quanto sopraindicato.

The Desktop Manager’s main menu is always the same for all the posts.

Anyway the layout of the sub menus of section UTILITIES can be different between them infunction of:

- Country where the computer system is installed

- Hardware configuration of the system

- Software configuration of the system

- Data transfer mode

- Kind of post: Master, Client, DB Server

In the pages of this document are explained all the possible tools that can be in the DesktopManager but their real presence instead depends on the above parameters.

Retail ApplicationLa pressione di questo pulsante determina l’avvio del gestionale Shop-py.

Utilities (INI X.X.X)La pressione di questo pulsante consente di accedere ad una serie disotto menù suddivisi in macro categorie ognuna delle quali può conte-nere tools software destinati sia al personale del negozio, che al perso-nale tecnico di service e che consentono di verificare configurazioni delsistema, inviare configurazioni ai dispositivi, controllarne l’affidabilità,ecc.Per questioni di sicurezza alcuni tools possono essere messi a disposi-zione di solo personale autorizzato e risulteranno quindi protetti da unapassword giornaliera.L’informazione riportata tra parentesi (INI X.X.X) la versione del file diconfigurazione del tool Desktop Manager.

The main menu of Desktop Manager it uniquely proposes two options

Retail ApplicationThis button allows to begin Shoppy managerial software.

Utilities (INI X.X.X)Through this button it is possible to access to a series of further menusubdivided in categories. Each of them can contain software tools thatcan be used from the shop assistants or from the technicians.Target of these tools is to verify system’s configurations, to loadconfigurations on the devices, to check the reliability of the devices ofthe system, etc.For safety reasons, some tools can be used only from authorized personaland so, when someone try to use them, a password’s request will beshown.The information among parenthesis (INI X.X.X) it indicates the releaseof the file of configuration of the tool Desktop Manager.

Le opzioni disponibili all’interno di questa sezione sono:

System’s ToolsConsente di accedere ad un ulteriore menù all’interno del quale sonopresenti alcuni basilari ma essenziali tools di sistema.

Help Desk ToolsConsente di accedere ad un ulteriore menù all’interno del quale sonopresenti alcuni tools destinati all’attività di supporto generico del perso-nale di help desk di Calzedonia.

Software ToolsConsente di accedere ad un ulteriore menù all’interno del quale sonopresenti alcuni tools destinati all’attività di supporto software del perso-nale di help desk di Calzedonia o a quello della software house.

Hardware ToolsConsente di accedere ad un ulteriore menù all’interno del quale sonopresenti alcuni tools destinati alla configurazione dei dispositivi hardwa-re componenti il sistema oppure al controllo / verifica del loro correttofunzionamento. Si tratta di tool il cui impiego è normalmente destinatoa personale tecnico di service o al personale di help desk di Calzedonia.

Shows details about shop configurationLa pressione di questo pulsante determina l’avvio di un’applicazione chesi occupa di reperire le principali informazioni relative alla configurazio-ne HW e SW del sistema esponendole poi a video.Quanto riportato a video è diviso in “pagine”; oltre ad una prima paginacontenente le informazioni a carattere generale ne viene proposta unaulteriore per ognuna delle postazioni componenti il sistema ed in questei relativi dettagli specifici.Nella pagina che segue un esempio di risultato relativo ad un sistemanegozio composto di due postazioni (Master + Client #1).

The available options inside this section are:

System’s ToolsIt allows to access to a further menu where are some system tools:they are basic but essential .

Help Desk ToolsIt allows to access to a further menu where are tools devoted to thehelp desk people of Calzedonia.

Software ToolsIt allows to access to a further menu where are tools devoted to thehelp desk people of Calzedonia or to the software specialists of softwarehouse that developed Shoppy.

Hardware ToolsIt allows to access to a further menu where are tools devoted to thehelp desk people of calzedonia or to the technicians for their activitiesduring system installation or service maintenance.Some of these tools are also used to configure (or to re-configure) thesystem’s devices.

Shows details about shop configurationIt allows to show a mask where inside it’s possible to check manyinformation about the system’s configuration (HW and SW).This mask has, at least, two folders. The first one contains genericinformation of the system while the other folders contains the specificdata of each post of system.In the following page you can see an example of this mask: it refers toa system with two posts (Master + Client #1).

Le opzioni disponibili all’interno di questa sezione sono:

Open the Explorer as Administrator HConsente di accedere all’Explorer di sistema in modalità Amministrato-re di Sistema. In questo modo sarà possibile accedere al sistema opera-tivo senza più alcun limite o restrizione.

Log-Off for the Current UserConsente di scollegare l’utente dal sistema.Ovviamente è necessario disporre delle credenziali di log-in di un opera-tore per poter completare questa operazione.In caso contrario, l’unico modo per ripristinare il funzionamento del si-stema è quello di riavviarlo.

� Questa utility non è disponibile sulle postazioni DB.

Shut DownConsente di spegnere il sistema.

RebootConsente di ri-avviare il sistema.A differenza di quanto accade nel caso di Shut Down, in questo caso leperifieriche non vengono re-inizializzate.

Scandisk HLa pressione di questo pulsante determina la schedulazione di unoscandisk (controllo del disco fisso) al primo avvio del sistema successivoa questa operazione.

Task ManagerConsente di richiamare a video l’omonimo tool che consente di control-lare lo stato delle attività e dei processi attivi.

� Questa utility è disponibile unicamente sulle postazioni DB.

The available options inside this section are:

Open the Explorer as Administrator HIt allows to open the system’s Explorer (Windows Explorer) as systemAdministrator. In this way you can access to the operating system withoutany limit.

Log-Off for the Current UserIt allows to perform an user log-off.After the log-off, the system waits for the user log-in; if you don’t havethe relative credentials (username and password) the only way to recoverthis situation is to perform a system’s reboot.

� This utility isn’t available on the posts DB.

Shut DownIt allows to shut down (power off) the system.

RebootIt allows to reboot (restart) the system.While shut down initializes the various peripherals; reboot doesn’t this.

Scandisk HIt allows to plan the scandisk activity for the system’s hard disk.When you press this button, after the password’s request, nothinghappen.The scandisk will be performed automatically at the next systempower on.

Task ManagerIt activates the Task Manager tool of Windows.By this tool is possible to control the processes that are running andthe system’s state.

� This utility is available only on the posts DB.

L’accesso a questa sezione del programma avviene partendo dal menù principale del DesktopManager, premendo i pulsanti:

Una volta entrati in questa sezione, le utility che verranno proposte varieranno in funzione didove il negozio è installato (Italia oppure Estero), della modalità di trasmissione dati (Dial-Up ovia ADSL) ed in funzione del tipo di postazione (Master, Client o DB).Le utility che si possono trovare all’interno di questa sezione (e sotto sezioni) sono:

Remote Assistance via BroadbandConsente di accedere al sotto menu dei tool destinati alla tele assisten-za nel caso di negozio dotato di ADSL per il sistema.

� Questa sezione non sarà mai disponibile nel caso di negozio dotato

unicamente di linea Dial-Up.

� Nel caso di ADSL la tele assistenza può essere attivata, oltre che

sulla postazione Master, anche direttamente sulle postazioni Cliente/o DB. Questo a differenza di quanto invece accade nel caso diDial-Up dove la tele assistenza può essere attivata unicamentesulla postazione Master.

Remote Assistance via ADSL PhionConsente di connetersi in tele assistenza con il negozionel caso in cui questo sia dotato di ADSL ma anche delfirewall hardware Phion Edge.

� Nel caso di ADSL senza firewall hardware, questa

utility non sarà mai disposnibile.

Remote Assistance via ADSL InternetConsente di connetersi in tele assistenza con il negozionel caso in cui questo sia dotato unicamente di ADSL manon del firewall hardware Phion Edge.

� Nel caso di ADSL con anche il firewall hardware,

questa utility non sarà mai disposnibile.

Assistance with FortechConsente alla software house di connetersi in tele assi-stenza con il negozio provvisto di linea ADSL indipenden-temente dalla presenza o meno del firewall hardware.

Alla pressione di uno di questi pulsanti farà seguito la comparsa di un pop-up come quello quidi seguito indicato. Su questo è sufficiente inserire il codice fornito dall’operatore che eseguirala Tele assistenza e confermare con OK.


Help Desk Menu.


Once in this section, the utilities that will be shown, they will change in function of the placewhere (country) the shop is installed but also in function of data transfer mode (Dial-Up orADSL) and in function of post’s type (Master, Client or DB).The available options inside this section (and sub-section) are:

Remote Assistance via BroadbandThis button allows you to access the section for remote assistance incase of shop endowed of ADSL line for the system.

� This section isn’t never available in case of shops endowed only

of analogical telephonic line (shop that can do only Dial-Up call).

� In case of Shops endowed of ADSL line for the system, the remote

assistance can be activated on whichever post of the computersystem. In case of shops endowed of Dial-Up line for the system,the remote assistance can be activated only on the Master post.

Remote Assistance via ADSL PhionIt allows to activate the remote assistance for the postwhen the shop is endowed of ADSL line but also of thehardware firewall Phion Edge.

� In case of shop with ADSL’s line, but without the

hardware firewall, this utility will never be available.

Remote Assistance via ADSL InternetIt allows to activate the remote assistance for the postwhen the shop is endowed of ADSL line but not of thehardware firewall Phion Edge.

� In case of shop with ADSL’s line and with the hard-

ware firewall, this utility will never be available.

Assistance with FortechIt allows to activate the remote assistance straightly withthe software house in case of shop endowed of ADSL Line.

When one of the above buttons will be pressed, you will have a pop-up like that on the followingimage. On this pop-up, shop assistants must insert the special numeric code supplied by theoperator that will perform the remote assistance; then to confirm by OK.


Menù Help Desk

VNC via Dial-UpConsente di accedere al sotto menu dei tool destinati alla tele assisten-za nel caso di negozio dotato di linea Dial-Up per il sistema.

� Questa sezione sarà disponibile anche nel caso in cui il negozio sia

dotato anche di linea ADSL poiché via Dial-Up sono gestite le tra-smissioni di backup nel caso in cui la linea ADSL sia down.

� Nel caso di linea Dial-Up la tele assistenza può essere attivata uni-

camente dalla postazione Master; per accedere alle restanti po-stazioni bisognerà avvalersi del tool “Remote Desktop” più avantidocumentato.

Makes a Dial-Up connectionConsente di richiamare a video la lista delle connessionidisponibili per il singolo nodo e quindi di scieglire qualeutilizzare per la chiamata.

Checks MML Service StatusIt allows you to check the status of the Windows’s servicenamed Milking Machine Lite Service (MML Service).
