Since October of 2017 over 1,915 KOHLER Clarity water lters have been delivered to bring potable water to approximately 11,490 Puerto Rican Citizens in several
municipalities.
Of individuals interviewed, 822 report gastrointestinal diseases, 520 report skin
conditions, 92 report need to care for open wounds and 251 report symptoms
of fever since Hurricane Maria.
PAL focuses on communities with no government delivery service of water (NON-PRASA Communities) because they
are most at risk for water contamination.
After Hurricane Maria passed through Puerto Rico, this
project was born and until now, approximately 1,915 families have benefited.
OUR PARTNERS:Proyecto Agua Limpia (PAL) was created by The Puerto Rico Science, Technology and
Research Trust through its Brain Trust for Tropical Disease Research Prevention program and in collaboration with the Puerto Rico Primary Care Association Network, Corporación de
Servicios Medicos CSM IPA-19, H20 Worldwide, KOHLER, Puerto Ricans In Action and Unidos por Puerto Rico.

OUR APPROACH:Through the use of a public health approach, our team is looking at how water is being
delivered to homes after Hurricane María and the health issues related to water contamination. Using GIS technology, our team is able to show where water lters are
being used.

and check our dashboard to see exactly where lters have been delivered. Each household lters will appear as blue dots.
WANT TO DONATE?Your donation will help us further our mission to provide
access to potable water in communities where it’s needed.

PAL is working with technical and community partners to develop a systematic approach to water quality
testing in NON-PRASA communities where we work. Data on E.coli/Coliform counts for select communities
will be available.
