Amuda Goueli was born in no mans land, in
Nubia (Egypt). He was raised in the desert until he
was 8 years old, when he moved to El Cairo to
study. It is there where he first experienced
electricity and light from a lightbulb.
Amuda earned his MBA from IE Business School
and is an Expert Analyst in Tourism by the World
Tourism Organization (UNWTO).
An avid traveller, as a young man Amuda
hitchhiked throughout Europe. While traveling, he
met Ian Webber, an Australian musician.
United by their passions of music, travel and an
entrepreneurial spirit, they embarked on a
business adventure. In the nineties, when the
Internet was still emerging, they created the first
web dedicated to classical music in the attic of a
small flat in Lavapies, an eclectic neighbourhood
of Madrid. The venture led to a series of other
websites and a hotel guide.
Then the .com crisis led them to reinvent
themselves and in 2001 Destinia.com was born,
created to make hotel reservations online.

in Arabic.

office in Dubai, reinforcing the delegation
in Egypt.

cash-on-delivery, so Destinia has
developed a pay@home system: users
make reservations online and a courier
will go to their home to record their
payment using an app. Then the clients
receive the reservation voucher via email.
› In July 2015, Destinia is the first Western
